Wynyard station is where the CBD madness starts* in the morning when you're coming from the north shore. As the train closes in to the Wynyard tunnel hordes of commuters stride and inch to the train's doors. You'll see faces that tell you life stories, from people who can't bear the thought to trudge along to their place of work, to the super-busy looking up-themselves business women, to walking suits, to young rebel - you name it, it's here. One day CityRail decided to paint the trusses and girders in aqua (or whatever that turquoise colour is called) and that was probably meant to give Wynyard station its distinguishing edge over the tan (that's some sort of brownish colour) tiles. Well, it didn't. It's clear that Wynyard station's best days are long gone and that it would be time for an upgrade. And who knows, with the construction of Barangaroo and the upgrade of the tunnel to Kent St that might be just underway. Will the actual station see an upgrade too? And what's with the floor tiles. While they've proven hard enough to withstand the millions of footsteps from the high to the low heeled, they're just sh...ugly - or a remainder of bygone beauty. One item of curiosity to me is still this ginormous clock in the area between the gates. Surprisingly it's actually working and not a twice-a-day-correct clock (in other words one that stopped working). Can someone tell me if that clock has historical value? So what makes this an "A-Ok" place? It's its central location, its shops and the fact that you as a foot soldier in a car-stuffed city have an option to exchange motorised madness for shoot-through madness. From Wynyard park to Hunter St, it's just an underground walk. Some nice food down in the bowls of Wynyard towards Hunter St. *not quite correct, because the madness sometimes starts at North Sydney or even Chatswood station

Time to go home !! Too much sea spray & sun ....

The old Sydney General Post Office has been transformed into the Sydney Fullerton Hotel. This was a perfect place to stay. So convenient and so beautiful. Tours are available. 25 Martin Place was once the tallest reinforced concrete office building in the world. It was controversial as several historic buildings were torn down for its construction. It houses the US Consulate. Several war memorials are in the mall. The Sydney Cenotaph is outside the old General Post Office. It honors the ANZAC forces that who fought in World War I. The Commando Memorial honors Australian commandos who fought in World War II and later wars. It is a small seat near the entrance to the Martin Place Station. The Sydney Hospital marks the end of the pedestrian mall. Read the information on the large displays along the mall to learn more.

The station itself is okay, expect for the lack of restrooms, at least as far as I could see. Trains aren't all that frequent either. Then again, it really isn't one of those stations that I'd make a habit of disembarking the train from.

The Star Light Rail Stop is a station on the Dulwich Hill Line of the Sydney Light Rail. If you are not familiar with The Star, it is a casino located in Pyrmont which is a suburb of Sydney. The light rail station is located underneath the casino and provides easy public transportation access to this entertainment complex. If you are trying to access this station, you need to go inside The Star. There are signs that direct you to the station which is downstairs. Sydney Light Rail runs 24 hours. But from midnight to 6 am, trains run only between Central Station and The Star. It does not continue onto Dulwich Hill. As for the station itself, it is darkly lit. It feels like you are sort of waiting in an underground parking lot. To pay for your fare using your Opal card, there are card readers at this station. Once you get onboard, there is a person that polices the train car to ensure that you have paid your fare by checking your Opal card. This station is pretty close to Sydney Fish Market which is a couple stops away. Though I would recommend getting off at the Wentworth Park stop which is actually closer than the Fish Market stop. If you like to gamble or enjoy the nightlife at The Star, this stop is very convenient as you can use it to reach Central Station and get to walking distance of the Sydney CBD at all hours of the day.

Each train car was packed once we arrived at this station so the train had to park there until everyone was able to get off. The bottleneck for getting out of the station were the stairs. It's got the lot, incredible value, never to be repeated again: views (including water views and Harbour Bridge views), close to transport (yeah, literally, but ferries, f(r)eeway and buses are also not far away), close to shops (a couple of restaurants and cafes down there), heritage building, lifts built-in, gardens at your (non-existent) door-step. The list goes on. It also has got two bathrooms, an unknown number of rooms (probably more than your average home), but no parking spaces and no swimming pool:( Ok, in terms of real estate value I've lied a bit here. Circular Quay station is equally good (just see my review of it). The best part of this is you get to enjoy this value every time you check in here, and it only(!) costs you the price of a CityRail ticket. The interesting thing with the transport hub 'Milsons Point station' is that you won't even really notice it's there. Once you step out of the station building, which on its ground level really is just an arch-way under the extension of our Harbour Bridge, you're either in Kiribilli village, or Bradfield Park. From either side, it's just a stone's throw to the harbour. One last breath of harbour air. Breath-in...aaaahh fresh air: "Please stand clear. Doors closing." Oi, bummer.
