Okay, while Town Hall station has its charm - well, charm is probably not the best word to describe…read morethe place, but still, as an underground station, I liked it. However, I have found that Wynard is much better organised, but then again it has been completely upgraded to make it much much better. Then again, I have found that the elevators can be pretty slow at times, especially when you are attempting to navigate it with a heavy bag of luggage. Still, I have actually found it pretty easy to get around, and the corridors that sprawl out from it make it quite easy to avoid the annoying streets. Oh, and the section under the park is still pretty cool.

But this station's got the lot too: views of Harbour Bridge, Opera House (take that Milsons Point station!) and harbour water. It could be passed in as waterfront property almost, which in Sydney terms slaps another few hundred grands on its value. Circular Quay station is also close to transport: many bus lines end and start here, there's a taxi rank nearby and six wharfs to choose from (Circular Quay 2 - Milsons Point 1). Close to overpriced shops, heritage building (sort of 50s building, but that heritage here), lifts, 2 bathrooms, floor art on the platform, First Fleet garden, The Rocks. Alas, no parking spaces and no swimming pool here either. And so many train lines to choose from. Get a ticket! In terms of village feel, Milsons Point station wins, so it's a draw: Circular Quay 2 - Milsons Point 2. One last advice to impress visitors from overseas: Take the train from Wynyard to Circular Quay. Not only are you on the water front side, but when you step out you'll immediately see the duo Harbour Bridge and Opera House. A real winner!

From here, it was just a short walk over to the Sydney Opera House. Since it's a very touristy location, it will be very crowded all the time. There were plenty of food options of all costs and variety nearby. If you're headed elsewhere, you can catch a ferry ride from the wharf. You can also hop on the L2 and L3 light rail. The T2, T3, T4, T7, and T8 train lines ran through this station.

The old Sydney General Post Office has been transformed into the Sydney Fullerton Hotel. This was a perfect place to stay. So convenient and so beautiful. Tours are available. 25 Martin Place was once the tallest reinforced concrete office building in the world. It was controversial as several historic buildings were torn down for its construction. It houses the US Consulate. Several war memorials are in the mall. The Sydney Cenotaph is outside the old General Post Office. It honors the ANZAC forces that who fought in World War I. The Commando Memorial honors Australian commandos who fought in World War II and later wars. It is a small seat near the entrance to the Martin Place Station. The Sydney Hospital marks the end of the pedestrian mall. Read the information on the large displays along the mall to learn more.

The station itself is okay, expect for the lack of restrooms, at least as far as I could see. Trains aren't all that frequent either. Then again, it really isn't one of those stations that I'd make a habit of disembarking the train from.

The Star Light Rail Stop is a station on the Dulwich Hill Line of the Sydney Light Rail. If you are not familiar with The Star, it is a casino located in Pyrmont which is a suburb of Sydney. The light rail station is located underneath the casino and provides easy public transportation access to this entertainment complex. If you are trying to access this station, you need to go inside The Star. There are signs that direct you to the station which is downstairs. Sydney Light Rail runs 24 hours. But from midnight to 6 am, trains run only between Central Station and The Star. It does not continue onto Dulwich Hill. As for the station itself, it is darkly lit. It feels like you are sort of waiting in an underground parking lot. To pay for your fare using your Opal card, there are card readers at this station. Once you get onboard, there is a person that polices the train car to ensure that you have paid your fare by checking your Opal card. This station is pretty close to Sydney Fish Market which is a couple stops away. Though I would recommend getting off at the Wentworth Park stop which is actually closer than the Fish Market stop. If you like to gamble or enjoy the nightlife at The Star, this stop is very convenient as you can use it to reach Central Station and get to walking distance of the Sydney CBD at all hours of the day.

The staff were helpful. The only problem is how platform 5 which I catch the most only has one elevator in the morning that goes down. If you catch the lift 70% chance there will be someone who stops at platform 3 and if your train was saying it was about 1 or 2 minutes until it arrives, boom! you've missed your train!

Well, this station certainly dumps you in the thick of things, namely out into the middle of…read moreDarlinghurst Road, though I have to admit that this particular strip has changed incredibly over the years and is these days literally a shadow of its former sleaziness. Mind you, I do pretty much hate this station, even if it is simply because of the complete and utter lack of toilets in the place. Then again, when one has visited its namesake in England, I guess you simply cannot compare.

Dodgy subway station in Kings Cross. I'd heard from people that all the action (used to be) in…read moreKings Cross, but now it's all touristy and gentrified. I had some time to check it out, and rode outta here by way of this station. It's located down a long escalator down under street level, beneath a Woolworth's. The trash cans were overflowing with garbage and there was a dearth of seating options. The place was overall dirty, and seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I didn't see any kind of police presence or patrols. But the trains ran on time, and it's easy to get in and outta here.

I the newer areas the platforms are underground and cater for the people travelling to the eastern and southern suburbs and the airports. The train station opens early and there are only a few cafes . One cafe has egg and bacon burgers with hot coffee that is to die for!

(Note: The way to travel for rail, light rail and ferry is to have an opal card). If you need help with the ticket readers, let one of the train folks know so they can help you. Transfers to light rail are clearly marked and easy to follow. The rest room could have been cleaner, but it was free. The exterior looks retro with red brick and has modern touches with the white exterior roof. Finally, there are elevators and escalators here. I know the last time I tried to go thru the subway at Waterloo in London I had to ask a nice young man for help with my suitcase to get it down the escalator, since they didn't have an elevator to use.

Each train car was packed once we arrived at this station so the train had to park there until everyone was able to get off. The bottleneck for getting out of the station were the stairs. It's got the lot, incredible value, never to be repeated again: views (including water views and Harbour Bridge views), close to transport (yeah, literally, but ferries, f(r)eeway and buses are also not far away), close to shops (a couple of restaurants and cafes down there), heritage building, lifts built-in, gardens at your (non-existent) door-step. The list goes on. It also has got two bathrooms, an unknown number of rooms (probably more than your average home), but no parking spaces and no swimming pool:( Ok, in terms of real estate value I've lied a bit here. Circular Quay station is equally good (just see my review of it). The best part of this is you get to enjoy this value every time you check in here, and it only(!) costs you the price of a CityRail ticket. The interesting thing with the transport hub 'Milsons Point station' is that you won't even really notice it's there. Once you step out of the station building, which on its ground level really is just an arch-way under the extension of our Harbour Bridge, you're either in Kiribilli village, or Bradfield Park. From either side, it's just a stone's throw to the harbour. One last breath of harbour air. Breath-in...aaaahh fresh air: "Please stand clear. Doors closing." Oi, bummer.
