I found Wyman through their great Google reviews. We had a leak at the main water meter in our yard. Setting up the appointment was easy and communications were good with confirmation of service and text/email notices that the technician was on his way. Anthony arrived on time and was very friendly and professional. He handed us a brochure on their membership as soon as he got out of his truck in salesman mode. He identified the issue and gave us a quote to replace two valves for $941. Not knowing what something like this should cost, we agreed to it. The job took 45 minutes. He went on to identify other plumbing needs with quotes of what he could do the job for, some of which we were aware of, but nothing that was urgent. Felt like he was more of a salesman than a plumber. We said we appreciated his imput but we were going to hold off. I was feeling uncomfortable with the nearly $1000 for work that took less than an hour. I contacted two plumbing companies to get a quote on the work we had done. One gave me a quote of $400 and the other $450. I also looked for the retail cost of the 2 valves which totaled about $130. Even with expected markup for the parts, that's a huge service fee. It's unfortunate, because we do have lots of plumbing work that needs to be done, but we won't use Wyman's, nor recommend them. I did call their office and share my frustration. Since I put my first review, I've had service from Wyman again. I had a small electric 2 gallon water heater installed under my kitchen sink as well as a new kitchen faucet. I had already purchased the items so the only charge would be the labor charge. I was charged $702 to install those two items in a matter of approximately two hours. Replacing refrigerator the water shut off valve broke on Friday afternoon. We have never before had dealt with Wyman Plumbing. Called for service on my LG ice maker. They were able to come out next day. Robert the technician was on time, courteous, professional and respectful of property. Ice maker was bad. They had one on the truck was able to fix same day . Very pleased. 4 days later I call back now frig and freezer not staying cold. Robert comes out again next day. Robert goes out of his way to read the paperwork I received earlier from LG about a bad compressor . He makes the extra effort to check to see if it's working.. it's not. Eric and Henry arrived exactly as scheduled. I had requested an estimate to r/r 10 water supply shut offs to two vanities, a kitchen sink and 2 toilets. I also requested the repair of a bathroom shower faucet and the repair of an exterior spigot. Eric provided an estimate, I provided my approval and the work immediately began. But, before the work began, Eric explained everything that he was going to do. When Eric and Henry were working, each time they walked into our house, they put on shoe covers to keep our home clean. When the work was completed, they cleaned up every area where they had been working. Upon completion of the project, Eric took me to each room/work area and explained what had been done. Eric and Henry were very professional and polite. They made sure every repair and replacement was in working order and not leaking. Eric also provided before and after pictures of each work area ( under sinks, faucet repair of tub/shower and exterior spigot) sent via email along with the invoice. Nikki on the phone walked me through what to expect and to have parts ready just in case it wasn't a common part they usually carry. I contacted Wyman Plumbing to get an estimate on replacing gas lines that had corroded and were leaking gas. Felicia, the Wyman representative, informed me there would be a 65.00 charge to provide an estimate...what??? I contacted a number of other plumbing companies that provided a free estimate. Considering Wyman's high customer satisfaction rating, I am guessing charging for estimates is a way of keeping their workload at a more comfortable level. If you read the "From this business" section here on Yelp, Wyman Plumbing states they provide a FREE estimate, I guess that applies to estimates that do not require Wyman Plumbing to drive to the prospective customer's location or invest time to make the estimate. read more
