My actual rating would be 4.5. I have a girlfriend who lives in South Bend (I live in Washington State). She has always loved Wygant Floral, so I have utilized their services for special occasions since the late 90s. Admittedly, I have not order from them in several years. I needed a funeral spray for my girlfriend's mother. I checked Wygant's on-line reviews before ordering and found some disappointing reviews on Yelp (less so on Google). The common theme for those expressing dissatisfaction was that the end-product was not as full as the image on the website and some of the images posted looked quite sparse. I noticed that these reviews were from earlier in the pandemic and wondered if supply chain issues had impaired Wygant's ability to deliver to expectation. I will say that Wygant's strong suit has always been (and still is) is excellent customer service. I called and spoke with Therese (I hope I am recalling her name correctly). I shared my concern over the reviews I had read. She said the company was well established and had been providing services in South Bend for decades. She also noted that they "were open" during the pandemic and she couldn't understand where the negative reviews were coming from. I was wise enough to ASK if the flowers were available to make the 3 sprays under consideration. They did not have lavender flowers, so that spray was eliminated. The attached image shows the spray I selected as it appears on Wygant's website. I was advised that the gladiolas were not in season, but they would substitute other white flowers and preserve the contemporary look, with the flowers sweeping at a diagonal. I was also advised that the broad green leaves were not available. I asked that they not substitute the spiky palm leaves, as those have a more traditional appearance. She assured me that the spray would look "full and beautiful" and they would preserve the contemporary feel. The day before the funeral, I requested and received via email an image of the spray they created. It seems they found a few broad, green leaves, which was a nice surprise. The spray did not replicate the fullness of the image on the website. In particular, my eye was drawn to the 'empty' areas in the middle of the spray (blue circles). I realize that exact reproductions are not possible (and I did not expect this), but my spray appeared sparser than I anticipated based on the internet image. I called and shared my disappointment/concern with Adrienne, who was very polite. I asked if she could insert 2 more white flowers of her choice in the 'empty' areas marked with the blue circles and she agreed to do so. She said that the sprays are "filled to value". I offered to compensate Wygant for the 2 additional flowers and she said this would not be necessary. She sent me an image of the final spray and I was quite pleased with the end result, as was my girlfriend. Adrienne had placed a small cluster of small white flowers in each area. (I apologize to those more knowledgeable than I . . . I have no idea what type of flowers she used.) Adrienne had even inserted a third cluster of small white flowers toward the outer border of the spray (white circle), which was above and beyond what we had agreed to. Since the flower arrangements are "filled to value", I wonder if the images depicted on their website set unrealistic expectations. Perhaps Wygant should post images of the sprays and the bouquets that they have recently created (and the price). If you are a persnickety perfectionist like I am . . . ask the florist at any shop if they have the flowers they need to make the bouquet you are considering, the substitutions they propose, and if the images on the website provide an accurate depiction of the end product in terms of size and fullness. read more

PROOF IS IN THE PICTURES "We ran out of the smaller roses" was what I was told when I called asking why the arrangement that was shown in the picture looked like the arrangement that is $40 less. They put a couple extra of the bigger roses in the arrangement that would "compensate" for the lack of the smaller roses. Just look at the pictures! It's not even close to what I ordered!! I called and they said they added six extra roses (totaling 18), I asked my s/o how many there were and she said 16. My s/o isn't in preschool, so she can count further than 16, and there would be no secondary gains from lying since she didn't even know they were coming. I called a second time and got a guy who said, "well they were filled to value and the owner said we put 18 in". You mean the owner that is fine with just not informing people their order will be altered and look nothing like what was ordered? Yeah I'm sure they put 100 in and I'm just a stupid customer. "Do you want me to refund you $20 will that make you happy?" Receiving what was ordered would make me happy, what an awful experience. So if you want to pay $138.08, to not get what was ordered and then get rudely asked if you want a 15% discount when you realize it's so clearly not what you ordered, then sure go here!! read more

I have been doing business with Wygants for years! They did my wedding 55 years ago. My children send me flowers several times a year. The last two deliveries have been so pathetic! For $100 I received 3 tulips, 1 spray of white lilies, a hydrangea and the rest very inexpensive filler flowers. I could have duplicated this arrangement for $10.00!!! So disappointed! I ordered a beautiful Valentines bouquet from FTD for my mom. the delivery date was to be Valentines day. when I completed my order the date had been changed to the 16th. NOT OK. but whatever. fine. then I call because the order never arrived to my mom and was told the driver already was out for delivery that mine would be deliver the next day. I call FTD to complain. they offer an upgrade and call the mentioned florist to correct the mistakes. the flowers that arrived looked like a kid put them together. they were nothing the the ones I ordered and were definitely NOT upgraded. I called to complain about the arrangement and was simply told "that is what was paid for". um NO i order the Valentines special in the cute little heart vase not a painted mason jar with a few sparse roses. They didn't even use baby's breath the fill in the gaps of nothingness. very disappointed and would not recommend this florist. they didn't even offer to do anything about it. sorry Mom. Called 2 hours before I picked up flowers and the person that answered the phone was helpful and polite. It is the day before Valentines so I know they are busy as all get out. My flowers were ready for pick up and they looked great! I don't understand why the bad reviews these guys work their butts off around this time! My brother-in-law recently passed away, and because I live out of town I called Wygant because I was familiar with the business. I gave them a $150 budget, and I will say the flower arrangement was absolutely beautiful. Four weeks after he passed away, my sister also died. So I called once again with the same budget and explained I would like the same sort of arrangement to be sent. When I arrived at the funeral home, I was so disappointed to see the arrangement that was delivered. It was something I could have bought at a local grocery store floral department for $50. Some of the flowers were wilted and basically was a glass vase of mismatched flowers, not the spring spray that I requested. It was an embarrassment. After arriving home, I called Wygant and expressed my displeasure. The best they could do was refund me $46.00 which was nothing more than the delivery and service fee. read more

I ordered a deluxe Get Well flower arrangement and teddy bear for my daughter at ND in isolation. Not only didn't she get them, when I called 2 days after I placed the order to check on it, I was told they didn't send the teddy bear I ordered but replaced it with flowers. When I asked why, they hung up on me. When I called back, they told me they delivered them to an office on campus but they couldn't tell me to whom they were delivered. I understand them not being able to deliver them to the door of the apartment address I provided due to isolation but at least give me the name of the person they gave them to so I could locate them. It was almost $100 and it never arrived. I gave them my number and my daughter's number when I placed the order. They never told me they weren't delivering a teddy bear and they never confirmed delivery to the person who should have received them. By the time this got worked out - which it still hasn't been - (They never told me who they delivered them to so I could not follow up with that person) she was out of isolation and didn't need the Get Well wishes from home any longer. This was a big disappointment and you can find a more reliable and courteous florist for an ND delivery for sure!! read more

I will never order flowers from Wygant's again. I ordered a deluxe bouquet with roses and hydrangea. What was delivered was so skimpy (3 roses instead of 6 in the picture) and there were dead leaves in the arrangement. I called to complain and they said that they had filled the order to specifications. WRONG! They resent the order and it was only slightly better. This is the second time they have botched an order for me this year. I think they are going downhill fast. read more

I live out of town but grew up in South Bend. I've known Wygant to have a reputation for being a step above in their products and in arrangement presentation so I have used them for every birthday, mothers day and special occasion order I have throughout the year for several years now. I'm literally ordering flowers from them on an average of e/o month. However, I am now looking for a new florist. I ordered an arrangement for my sisters birthday and requested a Friday delivery but they never arrived. I called on Sat to try and find out why and to get the arrangement redelivered and was told they would be but, again, they never arrived on Sat. I called today, Monday, and the manager or owner told me the driver attempted delivery both days and claimed my sister either wasn't at work or at home and that the driver called us both to let us know the dilemma. Either the driver or the manager/ower or both are being less than truthful. During my last exchange with the manager, she never once offered to upgrade or discount the order or offer a discount for any future order. She also kept saying they were trying to "track down" the recipient which is just a way for her to put the burden on the recipient of the gift. Totally unacceptable! Although this florist has never disappointed on beautiful floral creations, its simply not worth it when surprises are spoiled and I spend more time chasing down the delivery than they do. read more
