Cannot say enough good things about CRP…read more As a first-time mom you have questions about EVERYTHING. Thankfully for me, CRP offers telephone advice hours every day from 730am-830am. I've asked questions about how many times is normal to poop, various questions about feeding, asked for suggestion on how to alleviate cold symptoms, problems with sleeping etc. Each time a doctor took the time to address my question and was quick to reassure me that many people have this question/issue. I've never had an issue getting an appointment. Just to show you how quickly they can get you in on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, my 13 month old son was on day 2 of a fever of 103 degrees. I called at 3pm that day and they had an appointment booked for me at 330pm. This was before a holiday no less. It was completely amazing. Not only is there no issue with getting an appointment, the staff from reception, to nurses, to doctors is top notch. Everyone is so sweet and kind. Unfortunately we've had to go to the doctor quite a bit this year (thanks, daycare germs) and now they recognize my son when we walk in and always take the time to say hello and give him some extra attention. We've seen every doctor in the practice and each one has been phenomenal. You really can tell that they love what they do and care about the health and well being of every patience they see. I particularly love the way Dr. Berkowitz engages and talks to my son...when he's looking in his eyes/nose/mouth he does this sweet thing where he takes my son's hand and rubs it against his scratchy beard. Immediately my son is so totally distracted from what Dr. B is trying to do that it's not a fight or a struggle to do an examination. You want the best for your children in all aspects and your pediatrician is no exception to that. You can rest assured that your children are in good hands with the folks at Chestnut Ridge Pediatrics.

My biggest regret of parenthood is taking my children to Mandel. Similar to the other negative…read morereviews, they missed a life altering diagnosis for my child. Mandel's arrogant dismissal of my concerns were brushed off since his birth. He now has severe hearing loss, wears hearing aids, and is attending a school program for the deaf. I don't blame him for my son's condition, but for his arrogant dismissal and lack of care which potentially couldn't worsened my son's hearing. He mansplains during every appointment, making it uncomfortable to engage in conversation about my child's health. - [ ] For my first child, missed a diagnosis of soy and cows milk protein allergy, dismissed his acid reflux and Mandel refused to administer medicine to help reflux, and his hearing loss. - [ ] My son failed 2 hearing tests at his 3 year checkup. Mandel recommended us a specialist (not even a pediatric audiologist/ENT) Waited hours for them to complete test where they claimed he passed. "I'm sure he's fine" was the response. - [ ] A year later, brought my son to his 4 year old apt. After waiting over an hour, Mandel comes in nasty, rude, not even saying hi or acknowledging how late he was. Berates me off the bat for not knowing my son would have a vaccine that day, scolded me for my son's weight which was perfectly fine for his height/ BMI, and went on to suggest he was picking up bad eating habits from me (as I was 8 months pregnant). All he ever said about my son's speech was "I can't understand him"...never provided clarity or suggestions on our next steps. I walked out hiding tears. Never suggested it could be hearing related especially since he had a history of failed tests. Any question I had was met with condescending responses and complete arrogance. This was a pattern during every visit with him. - [ ] Immediately took my son for speech therapy where his therapist suggested a hearing test through them. Lo and behold he has severe hearing loss. Did I mention he passed his 4 year old hearing screening with Mandel? How is that possible? Then just weeks later he's failing every test with specialists and we began navigating his lifelong journey with hearing loss. Not once were we consulted or advised on anything from Chestnut Ridge. - [ ] My son had what we assumed to be either a spider bite or staph infection from a bouncy house. While seeking treatment, he questioned if we have a dirty house and that's where he picked it up...how insulting and out of pocket. What's with this guy? - [ ] My second son - his heart murmur went undetected for months, constantly dismissed me when he ran a 103-104 fever for days, and became dehydrated. Had a random office woman give him his vaccines who subsequently didn't log them then tried to administer the covid vaccine again at his next apt. That's concerning. My star is for Demi and the nurses. Demi is absolutely amazing - just wonderful at what she does and so kind and compassionate. Myself and my boys adored her. She went above and beyond to help always. Whenever we could get an appointment with her was the only time I felt listened to and received treatment. I wish i knew of Demi prior to the poor experiences with Mandel. Being disgusted with Mandel and his bedside manner, we transferred over to Tenafly pediatrics. I should've transferred years ago. They have been outstanding, kind, and so amazing with my boys. They truly care for their patients and you see it through their treatment and actions. Do better for your patients and treat them with respect. Listen to them with care and try to get to the bottom of issues instead of blowing them off. Parents are looking for guidance on their children's health but you present like that's an inconvenience for you. Don't operate under "because I said so" explanations.

My cousins have been going to this practice for years. When my son was born in California with a birth condition, they immediately gave our family recommendations for treatment and what specialist to see when we moved back to NJ. That put my mind at ease right away, they knew and understood his condition and followed it every step of the way. We have seen 3 out of the 4 doctors in the practice and have been seen at both locations. We tend to see Dr Rothenberg, the doctor who suggested the specialist, and Dr Hages the most but we have also experience Dr Fishkind when our other 2 doctors were on vacation, we love them all. What I love the most is that they highly recommend vaccines for your child and recommend that you follow the CDC's schedule but they don't shove it down your throat like other practices. That meant a lot to me as I broke up the shot so that they weren't all at one time. I later learned that it was best this way as my son had surgery with a blood transfusion and I learned that you needed to wait to give the MMR a year after that, because they were flexible we were able to wait that extra year. The nurses are always available to answer questions. They are open 7 days a week and can be reached 24 hours a day.

Dr. Ghavami has somehow figured out how to master his difficult calling -- approaching each of his patients with kindness, humor and a gentle but highly skilled hand. He has been our sons' pediatrician for almost 18 years and we never looked elsewhere. His diagnostics are spot on, and he and his wonderful staff (thank you Connie) are like family. In an era where quality medical care is hard to come by if you don't have lots of cash to throw around, and medical practice groups resemble a revolving door, it is refreshing to deal with a solo practitioner like Dr. Ghavami. He takes pride in his work and resists being gobbled up by large practice management conglomerates. This means that in this medical practice, you always see the same doctor and he remembers you and your children by name and takes his time solving your medical issues. Highly recommended!

Dr. Ghavami was so sweet and wanted to make sure we received everything we needed. He was thoughtful and respectful of my decisions as a mom. He was playful and silly with the boys and made our trip much easier. My boys struggled with their fingers being pricked as they have Autism and had a meltdown but the staff were very understanding and helped us through it. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend.
