The front desk staff are professionals, the medical assistants are also very helpful. When calling for completion of forms they are attentive and make you feel at ease. My son has been seeing Dr. Mo even before he was born for years ago. My wife and I met Doc at a parenting prep class at the Hackensack Hospital Woman and Children wing in 2013. He was very friendly, understanding, and taught us how to swaddle and break down some parenting myths. We decided to use Dr Mo as our pediatrician as he was close to our home in Lyndhurst. We could relate to his stories of his own children and he was open to all questions about our precious little boy. His positive attitude and crazy socks always would brighten our(child's) day in times of sickness and checkup shots. The office had been crowded at times but the staff could always accommodate our appointment requests and had Saturday visits as well. We have since moved 45 minutes away to Morris County but we feel Dr Mo's care is worth the trip and his care and association with Hackensack hospital gives our child everything he needs. From my initial phone call requesting an appointment to picking up my prescription that had been called in for me................I'm a fan. 1. Very pleasant, accommodating office staff. NO attitude, no tongue clicking, no rolling the eyes in disgust because you handed them the wrong insurance card. Young girls running the front desk but obviously well trained. 2. Even though I have a older child (12), the office has a separate "sick" child waiting area and a "well" child one. So you don't have to worry that your child who is just there for a physical is going to be coughed on or infected by a little germ carrier. 3. The only star I took off was for office decor. Don't expect a super fancy office......the carpet was a little dated, the exam rooms are a little small and dingy. ******We saw Dr. Alpa Lothikar, a young/smart/friendly Pediatrician. The practice is owned by Dr.Mona Tantawi who is probably in her late 60's. Her son, who goes by the name Dr. "Mo", is the only male in the practice and won "One of New Jersey's Top Docs" which is a super prestigious award: MDs in the state of NJ vote for Who they would take THEIR child too. Dr. Mo is a young, hip, smart guy. (I love that his name is Mohammed Tantawi and he has everyone call him "Dr. Mo" lol) So this practice is a great mix of an older experienced doc and young MDs (some fresh out of residency)........... I think it is great that there is an older experienced MD available to offer her seasoned opinion, but personally, I like a younger Pediatrician for an pre-adoloescent..........it is a lot easier for a 12 year old boy to relate to a doctor when there isn't that huge age gap. Being a medical professional myself, I was very happy with what I saw and very happy I found this practice. The doctors here are very good with children and very skilled. We have seen Dr. Stern, Dr. Reed and most recently, Dr. Azizi. They are all good doctors who take their time to explain things and do not rush. Dr. Stern and Dr. Reed also have small children so it's easy to relate to them and they understand a lot of what us parents with small children are going through. Dr. Azizi is very thorough and competent. She's also very popular though and there's usually a wait to see her. I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Tantawi (the female who is the head of the practice). Again, very professional, very skilled and very experienced. A true lady. I would recommend this practice to anyone. The staff is also friendly, competent and professional. I have never had a negative experience with anyone at the practice. The staff is very accommodating with scheduling sick appointments and will work with you and try to get your child in last minute, which I truly appreciate. I took off one star because the office is not very bright or modern. There are no books or toys for the children to play with or read while they are waiting. There is also no ventilation whatsoever and it tends to feel very stuffy and cramped in there. They need to move to a larger, more modern space. I don't know where to start! My son and I LOVE LOVE Dr Mo and the entire practice. I love that they gave me a tour and meet and greet prior to my son's birth. My only regret is that I didn't give birth in Hackensack, because of this Dr. Mo didn't meet my son until he was about 5 days old and by then he had advanced Jaundice. Dr Mo spotted it immediately and sent us to the hospital. As a first time very inexperienced mom I have come to the practice for way too many visits and Dr Mo and the rest of the staff have always treated me with respect and concern and PATIENCE!. The only thing I wish I could change is that Dr Mo is usually booked for sick visits so I mainly see him for shots only, but that shows what a great doctor he is that everyone wants him. I have seen the other four doctors there and have felt the same level of care and genuine warmth from them all. Dr Aligour is my second favorite. All the front desk girls are super sweet, and the assistants have been patient with me when I'm running late or when my son has peed on the scale lol! I actually moved and now live one hour away and I don't mind traveling to come here. It's a great practice and I'm looking forward to my son growing up under their care. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. My son has been going here since he was born November 2020. I never really had an issue until as of late. NOBODY EVER CALLS ME BACK. My son has been a horrible sleeper since he was born and for months nothing has been done about it. The doctors here pretty much say it's normal. When I tell you his sleep was horrible, I mean NON-EXISTANT. How that's normal I'll never understand. After it got REALLY bad, I tried calling multiple times for at least a month and every time someone told me they would leave a message for the doctor to call me back and nobody ever would. We wound up having to bring him in when he was feeling under the weather and when I told them how often I called with no callback, they just apologized and said they didn't know how that happened. What a joke. How is it normal to not be able to get in touch with my child's doctor? We finally were able to find a new doctor and scheduled his 18-month appointment with them. They're closer to us and family members highly recommend them. Won't be back here. read more

Are 7 week old son was taken to in an ambulance to Jersey city medical center because of bronchitis and low oxygen . We requested Hackensack because of what we heard about them . I was so sad when we had to go to jersey city and the room was shared with everyone with curtains dividing the children. We requested a transfer to Hackensack and when we got their they took my son in right away to a private room and admitted him to upstairs where he got excellent around the hour care. All the doctors , nurses and nurses aide treated my son James Torres like they really cared . They provided me and wife with bedding and treated us so well. My son is doing so much better and I'm happy we were taken care of by this hospital . read more

When you take your kids to the pediatrician, the only thing that's important is the care they will receive from the doctors. Not decor, not friendly receptionists, not parking. Nothing else should factor in. Based on that, Hackensack Pediatrics is excellent. Great doctors who give great care. They're friendly, but forthright and honest. I've never felt anything less than 100% confident taking my two daughters here. read more

First off Dr. Mo and Dr. Reed are fantastic. If this review is strictly on them, it would be 5 stars for sure. Unfortunately, I may have to look for a new practice because I dread coming here. Not because of the doctors or most of the practitioners, but because of this one receptionist. Has to me the most unpleasant person I have ever dealt with. Has a huge attitude and is not helpful at all. She never greets with a professional attitude. For example, when I went there yesterday, I'm waiting at the receptionist desk for 2 minutes waiting for someone. Once I saw her come in, my wonderful Saturday morning just turned grey. So normally, when I go anywhere, even the DMV, they'll ask "hello how are you", but this miserable person just greets "yes?", with clear attitude as if I just disturbed her from whatever she was doing. And this was the more pleasant I have seen her. We've had countless issues with her in the past, from scheduling, to just asking for status on appointments. Another instance, when my son was sick, I had made an appointment for 10:30am. I got there at 10:25, and wound up waiting a good 20 min until I requested for status because my son was getting a bit fussy. So I had asked this lady, when our turn was, and she said "well you have to wait since you came an hour before your appointment". I was quite taken aback from that and said, my appointment was for 10:30. And she said well on the computer it said 11:30. So after a few back and forths she shouted "THAT"S WHAT THE COMPUTER SAYS, I CAN"T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT'. Anyway, I can go on and on but I think people get the picture. Sadly because of this miserable woman, I have to leave this practice. The other receptionists or not bad, get a tad bit of attitude here and there but nothing significant. The doctors did say, they can't really afford to pay anyone professional so they hired this person, so unfortunately, this may cost them some business. Take this review as it is. A lot of people won't leave a good practice because of this but, being a hard working guy, managing clients constantly and raising a family, this type of miserable attitude is something I cannot deal with. I won't encourage anyone to leave but if you do get attitude from that receptionist, feel free to voice your opinion to the doctors. read more

This was my go to pediatrician because I like most of the doctors here. They appear to be understanding and concerned about the patients, not rushing you out like you're some number .... However, they have recently implemented a policy this fall to dismiss patients who refuse vaccinations or want them delayed regardless of any reason. I guess they have enough patients and can afford to do that now. Pros: - Dr. Reed and Dr. Mo are both great, the other doctors are good to great as well. - Late hours - for working parents this is great. The cons: - This practice is starting to dismiss patients who are refusing vaccinations or want to delay regardless of the reason - valid or not. - The wait can be long if you're not the first appointment or go in the afternoon. I have waited anywhere from 30 mins to over an hour on a number of ocassions. Not good with a baby! - There were no toys for kids, just 2 TVs, in the office so little kids get bored real fast. - Dingy and outdated office - The entrance from the parking lot to the office smells like somebody's overripe armpit. Makes you wonder how sanitary this place is. They are starting to renovate but it's going to take awhile... I would not recommend this practice if you're looking to refuse/delay vaccinations or if you don't have a lot of patience to wait... read more

Great, great, great doctors! UNPROFESSIONAL RECEPTIONISTS!!! rude rude rude. For the three years we have been coming to this practice there has only been ONE receptionist that was great. ONLY ONE, and she no longer works there. Very disappointing!! When arriving for an appointment, I often stand at the counter until THEY are finished with their conversations. They always act bothered if you ask a question and never make eye contact. If I call in and request an appointment, they ask what is going on and I get the same response every time " it could be viral, if it's viral their is nothing the doctor can give for that". SO DISMISSIVE ! And so what if it's viral!?! I'm calling for an appointment, not a diagnosis over the phone from the RECEPTIONIST. If I want to make 100 appointments for a viral infection, it's MY business ! I stay because of the doctors, but not sure how much longer that will last. read more

If We were allowed to rate them negative stars we would. On Thursday January 28, 2021 we brought our 1-year old daughter in the office of Hackensack Pediatrics because she had 4 days' worth of high fever, not eating properly, throwing up anything she tried to eat and extreme fussiness. We brought her in basically demanding an appointment because the other 2 times we called during the week regarding the same complaint they stated no need to bring her in and to just give her Tylenol. When we finally got there, The doctor kept mentioning unrelated causes of why she thinks the baby might have a fever, it took my wife to point out that we were there last Friday, less than a week ago for her 12 months shots, the doctors the said "oooh that might be the reason for her fever" my wife immediately thought "wow she didn't even read my daughters chart" she went thru all testing and they proceeded to test her for COVID19 to rule that out. Two days later, Saturday January 30, 2021 at approximately 11:15 am we received a voice message from the office stating to call the office back. We called back 20 minutes later, and no one answered. We then called back on 2 more occasions minutes apart and left 2 messages with no return calls. The office hours are until 1pm so we knew that we didn't call after hours. We then called a 3rd time and still no answer and decided to get connected with the on-call paging service who stated the office is closed and no one is answering. We stated we want the results of our daughters COVID test and she stated she will advise the on call. We still never received a phone call. We made several phone calls on Monday and Tuesday Feb 1 & 2 with no response either. On Wednesday February 3rd at 10:44 am We called and left another message, in this message we stated we are demanding our daughters results and need a call back immediately. At 10:56am (they open at 9:00 am) we got a call back from Odessa who stated, "sorry for the delay your daughter is positive" and began reading off a standard pre rehearsed instruction policy of their practice. We stated to her our displeasure in the handling of this matter and their failure to advise us in a timely fashion of this result which is a serious pandemic. Her response was "sorry it was a snowstorm on Monday" She advised me that she will have "Doctor Mohammed Tantawi "call me right back. Doctor Mo finally decided to call me at 1:00 pm and he acknowledged that this was a communication error on their part. This negligence of theirs is unacceptable and has put many lives at risk. Our daughter since Saturday has been cared for by her elderly grandmother, pregnant Aunt and has gone to daycare as well. My wife was also sent home from her job after she advised her boss of the positive result of our daughter which now will cost her 2 days of non-pay due to their negligence in telling us so late. This practice is a danger to society based on how they operate in pure negligence regarding a severely infectious pandemic disease. As far as Odessa, she needs some serious sensitivity training. Dr. Mo is fantastic to deal with but his staff seriously let him drown on this one. Your only as good as your staff read more

We have known Hackensack Pediatrics since before my eldest child was born. We met Dr. Mo at a Lamaze class at the hospital and were so impressed with his depth of knowledge but also how he listened with compassion and cconcern. We have been a part of Hackensack Pediatrics for 12 + years. We have a 12.5 year old typical boy and a 9 year old boy with autism. We couldn't be more grateful for the level of care we receive, their patience, understanding and gentle approach. Dr. Mo takes time to address our concerns and questions and always provides helpful guidance that has carried us through very challenging times. He is encouraging and kind hearted. Truly we can't imagine a better doctor for our boys.and he celebrates every milestone with us and truly feels like a part of our family. I would also like to mention his extremely competent nurses and office staff. In all this time we have literally had not one billing/insurance issue. Finally, the nurses, such as Stacy, are extremely knowledgeable and have been so supportive and caring. They are truly interested in helping and understanding their patients. read more

The staff is super friendly and helpful and remember us by name. We're not just another person. Everyone is kind and caring. Some doctors are ok but overall felt very rushed the doctor did the checkup in less than 10 mins and was ready to go out the door without addressing any concerns. Some others incidents occurred which I would rather not go into detail but I needed up transferring my son elsewhere. Also agree office is not very clean and outdated. read more

We came here after being at a practice we hated for 3 years and due to our crappy insurance had to stay put at. I was very pleased to meet Dr. Reed, and realized right away that she was a knowledagble and detail oriented person. My daughter was very fussy because she is quite shy and the Dr. Was very nice to her and understanding. She also seemed to know alot and listened to all my concerns, which there were a few. Our other pediatrician used to literally roll his eyes at me when I asked him questions. Honey I don't have time for that sorry! So glad we switched and am pleased with the new practice. The dr even made a follow up call to me that day to further help us out. I shall be returning! Both my boys have been under the care of Hackensack Pediatrics since birth, and I must say my motherly instinct of the perfect pediatric practice ignited right away! My oldest son is 8 and my youngest is 3 and Hackensack Pediatrics has been a living parenting manual. The office staff is loving, nurturing, and empathetic toward every and any situation and the doctors are beyond professional and treat their patients as their very own children. I've had most of my experience with Dr Mo and Dr Tantawi and couldn't of asked for a better duo to treat my boys. I've had experience with other pediatricians in the practice and can not think of one complaint in the past eight years! They make personal follow up calls and truly reflect on the proper medications and dosages and if medication is even necessary following the assessment. My boys are more than comfortable when we walk into the office and TRUST is an understatement! I've NEVER doubted their advice and guidance and will remain loyal to this practice as long as they continue to see my boys! I couldn't be more thankful for Dr Mo and his staff!!!! read more

Do not go here! They are impossible to reach by phone and I never get a call back. Been waiting weeks for them to fax my files to my new doctor but instead they release them to my mother. I'm 20 and that's illegal but according to them they have a release form signed by me to hand them over to her. They have one for my current Doctor not my mother. They also gave her my sisters chart instead of mine which they definitely don't have a release form for and she's 22. Also three years ago I was called overweight which caused me to be anorexic. My heart rate was low my next visit and I was barely 100lbs at 5'3. They didn't notice that. Lastly I feel years ago and injured my hip but instead of X-rays I got blood work of tendinitis. When that came back negative nothing else was done. Absolutely horrible staff that do not care about the patient just the money nowadays. Would switch doctors immediately unless you want your child to suffer. read more
