So, while researching best computer shops, I came across Onsite and discussed it with my husband. He recommended that we see what they can do, plus we live in Essex. We went there and discussed what problems I was having and he fixed it and brought it to my home personally; I thought that was very kind of him. The professionals were so warm and honest that I now only take my laptop to Onsite. I recommend everyone that have any computer problems take it there.

It wasn't a cheap machine but like so many things in life, it was past its warranty period. Finding good tech help, like finding a good mechanic, electrician, or plumber, can be difficult. I turned to Yelp for help (yes, I am a poet!) and found that DNS, a small storefront shop on Greenmount Ave, just a few blocks from where I live, had great reviews. After showing up a few times when they weren't open (yes, check their open hours, only a few days a week, and then only for a few hours each day) I went by today and met the head tech Jack. He was with another customer who clearly had been coming to him for a while, and I listened as he carefully and thoughtfully ran through her issues, made sure she was clear on what was happening, and then offered to stay open a few minutes late if she needed when her repair was ready. He quickly diagnosed the issue (a charger that may or may not be working correctly) and since the charger I brought with me seemed ok offered to send me on my way. I decided to purchase a replacement charger from him just in case and his price was better than I could have gotten online. A few other notes - he has many services and their prices posted on the wall - this is super helpful. Second, he offers a discount to teachers - something I am always in favor of. Honest, good-natured, reasonably priced? Yeah DNS has all of that. The storefront is easy to miss, but if you need quality repairs for your machine, this should be your first stop. Support the locals.

I wonder who monitors that?! ) Today she took it to DNS Technology Group, a few blocks from campus. Fixed it in a few minutes, 25 bucks! And super-nice people, according to my daughter. So props and a 5 star rec for these guys (but be aware they have somewhat limited hours)

Communication throughout the process was poor, and I was rarely informed about the status of my laptop. In the end, I was simply told that the motherboard was damaged and the laptop could not be repaired. If I just wanted a second opinion that my laptop was broken, I could have gotten one much much faster and at no cost. The experience cost me both time and money, and I was left frustrated by the lack of timely updates and clear communication. I can't comment on the quality of their repair work since no repair was performed, but based on my experience, their communication and turnaround time need significant improvement.

The guy was extremely kind and listened to what I said about the laptop. He said it would take roughly a week to fix and it was done in a week and a day. No complaints.
