I have been a loyal Stater Bros. shopper for over 20 years. The store has always been known for its…read moreexcellent customer service and quality products, and in all that time, I have never had a terrible experience--until today. Robert, a cashier, made it very clear that he is not there to provide customer service. When a guest needed assistance finding snowflake pasta, I kindly asked if a courtesy clerk could help her. He responded that the position no longer exists and emphasized that employees are not "slaves." I was shocked to hear someone speak that way, especially in a customer-facing role. The customer had already looked for the product on her own and clearly needed help, yet no one made an effort to assist her. I ended up giving her the pasta from my cart and decided I would shop for it at another location instead. I have tremendous respect for employees in all positions, but the lack of courtesy and willingness to help was unacceptable. I'm leaving this review because this level of customer service is not what Stater Bros. stands for, and it's disappointing to see it decline. On a positive note, you need more employees like Stephanie Z., who is one of the best cashiers at this location and represents the brand well. People used to complain about a district manager named Alfred--but honestly, Alfred needs to come back. It seems some employees have lost sight of what customer service truly means, and it's time for leadership to step in.

I was shocked at the actual square footage of this store as it looks much smaller from the street. Additionally, I never noticed they have a Starbucks within. Initially I only intended to stop in for a meager bag of tortilla chips, but I soon found myself walking other aisles just to peruse the variety of goods available. There's a full-service bakery with an impressive display case near the entrance (adjacent to the Starbucks), and the steaks at the meat counter were equally attractive. The deli section was doing a good business with several people in line for sandwiches, and I noticed a hot soup station, as well. I hate shopping at Lake Arrowhead village on weekends due to the traffic and, though this Jensens was doing a very brisk business, the ease of parking is so much better. I have been relying on the little market in Cedar Glen (a former Jensens, ironically) for emergency "basics, " but it's nice to know there is a larger, better-stocked, option available a short five miles distant.

Prices are a hit and miss. You will find some things pricey and others reasonable. For sure you'll be looking for convenience. There were employees focused on stocking the shelves. The employee at the register was friendly and didn't hesitate to engage with a customer. There's outdoor seating at the front of the market. A nice place to enjoy a bite if not too hot. The store layout is spacious and easy to navigate, the produce is fresh, and there's a great selection of everything from everyday essentials to vacation snacks and drinks. Prices are reasonable considering the location, and the staff is consistently friendly and helpful, exactly what you want when you're on island time. Only downfall: the restroom felt like a sauna. It was so hot in there that it was genuinely uncomfortable, and I came out sweating. Please turn the AC on in the restroom, it would make a big difference! I decided to buy a bag of chips. Then I saw beautifully packaged baklava at the cash register counter. I bought the big gold box full of baklava. Oh wow...just like another reviewer said, these are the BEST baklava I've ever had! These are packaged so nicely, they would make a nice gift too. (Note: The attached picture doesn't include all the baklava that was in the box, because I had already eaten two before I took this picture.)

The couple who ran it offered homemade baklava (which was literally the best I've ever had) and even helped me take my bags to my car IN THE RAIN! Talk about going above and beyond! Also even though the prices were high and the food selection was small it was the best option in the area and the $180 spent on groceries paid for 4 meals plus snacks for 5 people which was a much better alternative than going out for every meal.

My orders were identical but I received two completely different sets of cupcakes. The colors were different and only one set had sprinkles. At that moment, Evette came to me and told me I had to "stand behind" because she said I had cut in line. I calmly explained that I had not cut in line, but she ignored my explanation and continued treating me as if I had done something wrong. I felt harassed, disrespected, and singled out by Evette's attitude and actions. Her conduct made my shopping experience very uncomfortable and unacceptable for a store of Walmart's size and reputation.
