Last Saturday I visited the Wright's Barbershop. My long term barber had retired, and I found this barbershop online. Tommie welcomed me as I entered the door. I sat down, and he asked me how I would like my hair cut. I told him, and we had a great visit. And I got a good looking haircut. Today was my first visit. I wasn't too impressed with any of it. Waited about 30 minutes and got cold feet watching them work.

Make sure you read the reviews or know ahead of time that they don't take cash! We were waiting for 20 minutes and i found out by reading a Yelp review. Also it was weird walking in as my son and I felt a little out of place as there was no sign in sheet or even someone to acknowledge and welcome you in. All 4 barbers glanced up and continued cutting thier customer's hair without saying hi or letting us know where to sign up which was really awkward and has never happened to me before at a barbershop. When I confirmed that they only take cash we left....we will also not be coming back anytime soon. read more

Wright's Barbershop is everything you need and nothing you want. My boyfriend loves it because it's a great place to get an affordable haircut, which is seemingly impossible nowadays. They do a good job with his easy to maintain short cut and clean him up with a straight razor. You can find fancier, but you'll pay a fancier dime as well. There are only two Master barbers in the shop. Mr Right and his cousin. And that is it. There is a young fellow in there that talks a lot but that's it. His haircuts are terrible. Whenever you hear Tommy that is his name just run away. It is worth waiting for the master Barbers then getting in Tommy's hands. He got me in telling me that his dad was a barber and I got food thinking than the sun might have an experience but he chopped me up literally. Older Barber in chair close to door (don't know name) was unacceptable. Haircut was marginally adequate and beard trim was totally unacceptable. (Un even and poor definition) Multiple nicks with razor. (Should not have happened) Other serious concerns with this barber that are not be appropriate to detail in this forum. --- 2nd chair: (2nd from door) younger barber. Was good. Good hair cut and beard trim. He saw what was going on in first chair and should have spoken up to prevent injury and unsatisfied customer. That is the only fault for him. I probably would go back and try 2nd chair if so disposed to give Wrights a second chance. Seriously wanted to treat both family members to a hot towel razor shave but didn't due to issues noted in review. Overall, Wrights has the decor, location and resources to be the GO TO barber in the area. They need to fix problems with their staff and quality of product. Hate to give 1 star but in good conscience could not see a reason (outside perhaps of charity) to give a second. read more

I came in today to treat my Dad to get his haircut and based on the previous reviews I just knew I had to take him there because I know my Dad LOVES the old school ways of barber shops, the razor cut shave and the hot towels. So when I walked in, there were 4 guys that all looked around my dad's age--yup I knew my Dad would enjoy it because he was surrounded by guys that were just like him having a good time. When I sat in their waiting area I felt like I had stepped out of a time machine and landed in the 60s or 70s. Still a lotta fun to watch though. Lol So he was able to get his haircut right away (btw I wish I had the name of who it was that did his haircut and shave. All I know was that he was the only one with black hair) and when I asked if they did offer the hot towel and razor blade shave, I just went ahead and added that as well. My Dad and I were very pleased with his haircut and shave and I'll defiantly bring him back again. **The one tip I will tell people is they are a CASH ONLY establishment so make sure BEFORE you arrive to bring cash with you. Fantastic old school barber shop. Nothing fancy. No hot young girls with exposed cleavage giving terrible haircuts. No loud music. Just a bunch of older dudes giving great haircuts. They do have pretty tight hours and Saturdays wait can be long. I have a hard time making it there by closing time (5pm) from Love Field when I get off work at 4pm, so Randy waits for me and is willing to stay past 5 if necessary. I've had a male barber before, and I was amazed by the difference. I've yet to find one since, and I may have found the place. I have to tell your first, and upfront...CASH & CHECK ONLY. They were VERY cool and let me go pull some cash, luckily my bank is at the corner. Just know, CASH & CHECK ONLY. Initially it's hidden between an Asian restaurant and a yarn store. When you walk it, it's VERY bear walled. There's a TV, they had golf on but I tolerated it, and a mounted deer head...maybe a poster or 2. That's it. Could use more, but I'm certainly pleased it wasn't models with fake haircuts. I got a simple cut and trim ($16), and Randy did a great job. The barbers were older men, and I felt that they knew what they were doing from experience. After the cut, usually they take some trimmers and trim the lines and neck. Nope, warm cram and a straight razor. That says CLASS to me. Overall I was pleased, certainly felt like a place to make a few guy jokes and get a cut...maybe some beers too. I have a normal hair stylist, and I prefer the deal I get there. I WILL go to Wrights again, and might take my dad if he needs his ears lowered. read more

Classic spot - finally found a great spot for a haircut! I've lived in Plano for over 20 years. I had sort of given in to bad cuts at the "fast hair cut places" (super cuts etc) and could never justify spending $40-60 (or more) at the fancy spots, so the years just ticked on... Discovered this spot via yelp and dropped in. Three guys working on a Wed with a few regular patrons waiting for their favorite barber. Loved the experience and cut I got by Joe was great. Knew his trade and suggested a few things that worked out great. If you like the classic attention to detail of the barber, this is the spot. Been twice in a row now, and all the 5-star reviews below are correct. This is a classic, old-school *Barbershop* (not a "hair-styling" salon). The gentlemen in the shop know what the heck they're doing and obviously have years of experience doing it. You *will* get classic extras like having your eyebrows trimmed & your neck shaved with warm lather and a straight razor. You *won't* get some 20-something, unisex stylist trying to sell you "product" for your hair. No fancy chrome or neon in the place, either. Just a spare, clean shop with sports on TV and a barber who'll chat with you about it, if that's your deal. The price is incredibly reasonable as well. A GREAT, std. men's haircut is just $16 (so be a good guy and give 'em at least a $20 & "keep the change"). As other reviews have mentioned, it's cash or check ONLY, so be prepared. read more

Good barber shop with a bit of class. Moved from Los Angeles to Plano was in search of a good barbershop for a while and this spot is so far the best. Got my cut exactly what I wanted spot on. There is a lot of chain placed so called barbershops in the Dallas area that charge double the price, but prices doesn't necessarily mean a quality cut. This place is a true barbershop that is a work of art. Best way to describe a good local barbershop is how local brewery is to good craft beer, how local roasted bean is to coffee and what craft cut is to a barbershop. Amazing its under $20? My dad moved here from Chicago and he wanted a "guy's place" to go to in Plano, Tx. "No girlie hair dresser" was his request. We found Wright's Barber Shop after asking a few female hairdressers. Gotten to know the barbers and Randy is my go to guy. I recently had to trim down my beard and handlebar mustache and he worked patiently with me on it and did a great job. Cool group of guys in there, but the haircut just wasn't what I was looking for. I asked for a 4 fade with a side part and a tapered neckline. This resulted in my neckline being completely uneven.. The fade is alright (no lines in it) but the back of my hair doesn't even feel like it was touched. It seems like he faded my sides but gave me a 4 in the back (not what I asked for). If you just want you hair cut well, not styled, and you love the feel of having your neck shaved by a razor with warm hot shaving cream, you need to run, not walk, to this place. I went there 3 times. First time was ok - but I assumed the barber would get better as we communicated over time. It was the opposite. The cuts got progressively worse even though I tipped well each time. I am not interested in a kid's quality cut. I need a professional cut where the barber listens well to the feedback and requests and is consistent in quality every time. I also noticed that the attitude was more like they were doing me a favor instead of working to earn my business. It seemed like since I wasn't an "old-timer" there, they weren't even interested in making me feel welcome. Zero conversation - indifferent attitude.
