The staff was very friendly and welcoming. However, I went in specifically for a straight razor beard line-up, and unfortunately, the lines were quite uneven. To be fair, this review only reflects my experience with the beard service--I haven't had a haircut there, so I can't speak to that. read more

Does anybody like Hall and Oats? That south Philly sound seduced a lot of people with hits like Rich Girl, Out of Touch and Man-Eater! little did I know today Id have my hair cut by a native South Philly guy with classic rock blaring on the speakers overhead. Michael moved to Texas to join his brother who had been here 35 years. last year in August at the height of the pandemic and before we knew if and when there would be a vaccine, Micheal opened Rapattonis Barber Shop. Talk about taking a chance and walking out on a limb. He is still trying to build his business and I found him by accident. Im glad I did because, he's an engaging and nice guy who knows how to cut hair. During the pandemic, I didn't shave or cut my hair. Two months ago, I cut the hair but left the beard. It was time to trim the hair again and he did a great job then trimmed the beard for a fresh look. Ive been very picky on who cuts my hair over the years and always looking for the next cutter to take ove, after my current one flames out. They always seem to do a good job for 2 or 3 years then....I dont know what happens. Hopefully, I can keep Rapattoni for a while. At least till I teach him how to live in Texas! If you're a woman, I would not recommend this barber. This review is based on an attempt to schedule an appointment at Rapattonis Barbershop. I have been using the same barber for a long time, however I have recently moved to the Plano area and have been looking for a new barber. After a quick Apple Map search of the areas barbers, Rapattonis shop looked like a good choice with an all 5-star rating. I called the barber shop and spoke with Michael. One of the most awkward conversations I have ever had ensued. Basically, Michael made me feel like I didn't belong in his barber shop because I wasn't a man. I had to literally say, "I have a man's haircut" to get him to schedule me for a cut, after Michael asked me a series of questions about my hair. I've never had an issue like this before at a barber's shop. I have always avoided barber shops that specifically say they are for men or in some way specify that it's a man's destination. As far as I know, Rapattonis didn't specify that the shop was for men only. I feel like women that have "feminine" looking hair would not be calling a barbershop to get a haircut in the first place. A lot of what is important to me as a customer is not just that it is a good cut, but that the shop is a place that I am excited to spend my time in. I moved out of Dallas, but come back a few times a year. A few days ago, I scheduled a haircut with Michael based on reviews for the barbershop. I've had my haircut with him at Finley's in Plano when I lived in the area, but since then, he's struck out on his own. Time and time again, Michael delivers a superior haircut and beard shave, with strict attention to detail. He had me in and out promptly at the scheduled time. My son goes here and gets his haircut by Christian and is always satisfied. Kind of expensive but they do wash your hair and use hot towels so its worth it if you want a full service experience. My son said the hot towel burns his eyes though lol read more
