Van’s Auto Service & Tire Pros

My wife went to Van's on her regular mechanic's recommendation for a wheel alignment. They told her…read morean alignment would be pointless, that her car needed roughly $4,000 in repairs, and that it was unsafe to drive. Frightened, she authorized the minimum they said was necessary to make it safe. She was charged approximately $1,600 for rear brakes and rotors. When she contacted her regular mechanic, he disputed the need for that work, explaining that those components had been replaced just ten months earlier. After she posted a negative review, manager Dennis asked her to come in. He told her his district manager had seen the review and instructed him to "fix this." During that conversation, Dennis reviewed her bill, acknowledged that she had been overcharged for labor, and offered to refund the overcharge and provide a free alignment. My wife understandably declined to let them work on her car again. Dennis then offered to reimburse her for an alignment elsewhere. The promised reimbursement has not arrived. Van's public response to her review suggests that their conversation restored her confidence in the business. It did not. They acknowledged overbilling her, promised reimbursement, and failed to follow through. We have no confidence in this business and will not return. Before authorizing expensive repairs here--especially repairs presented as urgently necessary for your safety--get an independent second opinion.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change - Storefront

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Needed an oil change on a freezing cold day and I didn't want to make an appointment. So I drove…read morearound the corner from my house to Valvoline. As I pulled into the lot, a car pulled into the shop making me the next in line. Within 10 minutes, the car in front of me was in and out. I was impressed with that speed. Then I pulled in and they closed the doors because it was frigid outside. One employee guided me in, another employee greeted me and asked me what services I wanted. A third employee pressurized my tires, and a fourth employee drained my oil from below. I felt like I was driving in a race and I had my own pit crew. That was cool. I was informed that my oil was a tad low upon arrival. I was offered windshield wiper blades and a tire rotation, which I declined. They checked my battery, blinker lights, headlights, and brake lights also. I gave the greeter my email and phone and I subsequently received a $20 off coupon. While my oil was being changed, there was a clock showing the amount of time it was taking. There was also a camera showing the tech working under my car. However, the image was too blurred to make out any details. There was an additional camera above my car and the monitor is next to your window so you can watch it all go down from two different angles. This was one of the best oil change experiences I've ever had, but it's also by far the most expensive. It's 150% more expensive than the dealership's full synthetic oil change and 220% more expensive than Walmart's full synthetic oil change. If I'm ever in a pinch for an oil change again, I might stop by. But the cost is so insane that I will find other options. When I pulled out, the timer was at 9 minutes! That's the fastest oil change I've ever had.

I normally don't leave reviews, but this situation has been extremely serious and ongoing, and I…read morefeel obligated to warn others about my experience with Valvoline in Medina, Ohio (Route 18 location). I brought my 2016 Mini Cooper Countryman S in for a routine oil change. At the time, the vehicle was fully drivable. Immediately after leaving the shop, my car began experiencing severe issues -- extreme RPM fluctuations, shaking, and near stalling -- and broke down shortly after. The vehicle had to be towed and inspected by an independent repair shop. Their diagnosis indicated that something was improperly handled during the oil change, with evidence suggesting foreign material or an error related to the oil filter system that caused catastrophic damage to the turbo and engine. The repair estimate is approximately $13,000. What is most concerning is not just the damage, but how this situation has been handled. I filed a claim with Valvoline and was initially told they wanted to "make it right." However, once the cost of repairs became clear, the claim was denied without any clear or consistent explanation. Since then, my family and I have made multiple attempts to get answers. We've received conflicting statements from management, no formal written reason for denial, and no accountability. When we went in person simply asking for clarification, the interaction became dismissive and unhelpful. At this point, my vehicle has been unusable for over a month, and we are left dealing with the financial and logistical consequences of what appears to be a preventable error. I strongly urge anyone considering service here to proceed with caution, especially if you have a vehicle that requires specific care or expertise. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, expensive, and disappointing.
