We each ordered a Sushi Deluxe - miso, 10 nigiri and a tuna roll. Plus a spicy tuna avocado salad to share. The fish was very fresh and flavorful. We are sushi purists, we don't enjoy rolls with cooked components or multiple sauces, which most of their rolls include, so there wasn't much on the menu, as far as house rolls, that was appealing to us. Seriously some of the best sushi in MI. It has been challenging finding a relatively good sushi place here but this place is consistently producing high quality food. I would drive 40minutes to get here if that is any indication of how good their sushi is. The wait staff are pleasant. The inside is a bit on the small side and can get crowded quickly. I have gotten a table in the middle which was slightly awkward i.e. two tables are put together so you end up eating directly next to another two person group. Friendly and attentive service, top notch freshness! Came in for the sushi lunch special and was not disappointed, rather pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fish. I was super excited to try this place. Service was absolutely horrible. Food was pretty good, nigiri was not a lot of rice in the rolls which is always a good thing... but service killed it. Got our food with no chopsticks, took a really long time to get our chopsticks. Water took forever to get. After reading all of these reviews, I came here expecting good sushi, or at least decent sushi. I was sorely mistaken. At the very least, the restaurant is clean. Probably one of the best things I can say. The wait for the sushi was a little long, but for good sushi I will wait a long time. Again, this was not good sushi, so I am less forgiving. I was excited for the "light refreshing salad" everyone kept raving about on here. What I received was a finger bowl with about five thinly sliced pieces of cucumber and a miniscule amount of crab. It was actually really humorous how small it was. I hate the typical chain-restaurant giant portions, but this was weird. Sadly, the "salad" was STILL the best part of the meal. I did like the dressing, but ... the owner must be very frugal. So, we typically eat 2-3 rolls for dinner, but because of all the rave reviews we decided to order four because we like to live on the edge sometimes. We ordered the spicy white tuna, Hawaiian, the triple, and the twister. The first thing I noticed upon receiving the rolls was that they were incredibly small, which seemed to be a running theme with this restaurant. The rolls were not only small, but were mostly rice with a small amount of fish, which made me really unhappy. Additionally, the rice was inconsistently applied on the outside of the roll and the pieces were uneven. The spicy white tuna's spicy mayo was a little too sweet, with a very "off" flavor, so that disappointed me. I will give the restaurant credit for trying out rolls that are not traditional. At first I liked the Hawaiian roll, but then after eating a second piece, I realized I just really like pineapple as this was pretty much the only flavor that came through. The triple roll wasn't bad, but was definitely forgettable, and the twister was literally a strange (small!) bite of fried meat and rice and the texture was weird and slimy. So basically, the crazy small portions and the underwhelming (and sometimes downright unappetizing) flavors as well as the laughably tiny appetizer make this a place I would not visit again. The following week, the boyfriend and I went to Take Sushi on Walton, received a small bowl of miso and a salad with a light ginger dressing as well as two rolls and breathed a sigh of relief that we never had to dine at Wow again. MEDIOCRE. Ordered from restaurant connection tonight and 4 rolls came in ONE styrofoam box - with 6 eeny teeny tiny pieces per roll. This may have been the smallest sushi I've EVER seen. And it was not cheap! I think it was 6-7 bux a roll! And their salad was like 3 bites of wimpy iceberg and the soup - a half full watered down miso. I have actually never taken the time to write a review on here, but this was the highest level of disappointment I've ever had from a $40 delivery. Not only were we not satisfied and felt ripped off; we had to order pizza afterwards to satisfy the hunger left behind from our measly "appetizer". Unbelievable - and I actually read the reviews BEFORE ordering! Woah. This sushi was simple and phenomenal. Slowly prepared with care. Fresh. Delicious. I got the BBQ Eel (S8) which was $9.95 and incredibly tender and rich. The rice and "incidentals" along the side were lovely. I have been to Sushi-Do on Crooks on a number of occasions because it's closer to work, but the next time I have the time to do it (this place is slower, because the chefs make each roll/nigiri/bento/whatever to order) and I get a hankering for sushi, I'm coming to WOW. read more

I was late for lunch with my new boss (it is always important to lower expectations from day one) and feeling a bit rushed. I ordered some tea and started perusing the menu. My new boss, a foodie for sure, said that this was some of the best sushi in the area and after my first meal here I like it, but I am still looking for "the one", (no mom, I am still talking about sushi, stop trying to set me up). For me a great sushi place needs a few components: Obviously the food: It is paramount that sushi be fresh, Wow is, so no problems here. I want the rolls to be inventive and really surprise me with some unique flavor combinations. I ordered a lunch special for $13 that had three different types of spicy rolls. They are solid, but none were spectacular. Meaning I would be fine ordering them again, but I wouldn't recommend a friend have to try to them. The next component for me is booze. Sorry but whether it is ordering some Japanese beer, saki, wine or martini's, I just feel like sushi was made to be pared with alcohol. Not having any available is a miss for me. The last component is decor, sushi isn't cheap (although this place was fairly priced), so I want something that has a little wow factor. Sushi is a great date place and a hole-in-the-wall sushi joint just doesn't have the right vibe for me. To Recap: The Good: If this is solely a lunch option I would give it four stars. Fresh fish, solid pricing, very good service, fast. The Bad: No booze means I actually have to listen to my date. I kid I kid. Went to Wow Sushi tonight for a dinner date with myself :) I live in the Farmington Hills area but, since I am solo for the week, I decided to make the trip to Troy and boy, I was definitely not dissapointed! The fish is fresh, the speciality rolls are creative , the price is right and every person that works their couldn't be more sweet! I ordered some pieces of nigiri, a spicy tuna handroll and the twister roll. When I go to a new sushi place I always try to try a little bit of everything, that way I can make my best judgement about the place. At the end of my meal I ordered two additional pieces of squid sashimi - I was sitting at the sushi bar, so the sushi chef made small talk with me the whole time. When I ordered the additional two pieces he asked if he could make it into a squid salad. Me being the kind of person who wants to try and eat everything- I of course said yes! It was one of the most magical things I have ever tasted ! It had a smokey flavor and some masago in it -amazing! I highly recommend this place and will be coming back soon for sure! read more

Their miso soup did not taste fresh to me and had more of a gritty texture like the soup mix wasn't desolved. Wonderful sushi place! Everything was very fresh and delicious. Once we ordered, our food was out within 20 minutes, and the place was about half full. They have some really unique rolls here -- my favorite was the Spicy Crab! My husband ordered the Hawaiian roll and he really liked that. I don't know if I would say it's the best sushi of all time, but it's pretty damn good. I'm partial to Sumo in Rochester, just because it's closer, but I'd say these two places are nearly even as far as taste. read more

My friend and I were talking about grabbing some sushi for lunch and saw some great reviews online for Wow Sushi and decided to check it out. Wow Sushi is located in a plaza and located between a bunch of little shops and very unique restaurants. As we walked in we were welcomed by a very gracious host and seated at a table near the sushi bar. We decided to go with the Yum-Yum roll, Twister roll and the Spicy Shrimp Tempura roll. We filled out our sheet and immediately were brought this little cucumber-crab vinegar salad (kappa?). It was alright. It tasted fresh but personally I'm not a big fan of the mixture. The Yum-Yum roll was my absolute favorite. It was mouthwateringly delicious! It's a pretty big roll and within it there is a huge variety of flavor. I really noticed the crab and the tempura within it. The Twister roll was just as scrumptious. After eating these two rolls we were both filling up but had to finish up the Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll. It was a little spicier than I was expecting. I loved it though. All of the sushi seemed incredibly fresh. As we were leaving all the people working said "thank you" and for me that was just a really nice way to leave. They definitely make a very homey and relaxed environment. The restaurant looked extremely clean too. I couldn't see anything that caught my attention at all so that put my mind at ease. All the sushi is very reasonably priced. Compared to other sushi places around the area, I feel like this is a place where you get a wonderful and fresh quality sushi for a decent price. The environment, the quality of food and the uniqueness of the restaurant really make for a remarkable experience.
