Homeowners beware especially if you need a hot water tank installed! When Worthy Plumbing installed a new water heater some years ago, the company failed to install a water pressure regulator (among other things) called an "expansion tank", as required by California Plumbing Code § 608.2 and 608.3. Because of this negligence and the fluctuating water pressure, my home suffered water damage, and my home warranty claim was denied. I had to pay for all repairs and the regulator installation myself. When given the chance to fix the mistake, Fred Worthy refused to take responsibility. Serious lack of professionalism and disregard for plumbing code requirements. Also, Worthy neglected to install a sediment trap and ground clamps on the water heater. If you had such work done, consider having that work inspected so that your warranty is not voided due to his negligence. read more

Our house was tented for termite fumigation, so of course, we had to be out for a couple of days. We returned on a Saturday, and called SoCal Gas to get the service back on. The Gas Co technician showed up at about 4:00 PM, but would not turn the service back on, because of an indicated slow leak. I did a quick web search, and found Worthy Plumbing. They had good reviews, so I gave them a call at about 5 PM Saturday afternoon. To my great surprise, owner Fred answered the phone, and said that he would be out at 8:00 AM on Monday Morning. True to his word, Fred showed up first thing Monday, and proceeded to confirm that the gas leak was in the line between the meter (near the street) and the house. He did this by shutting the gas valve at the house, and then pressurizing the line at the meter, and monitoring a pressure gauge. Fred measured the line length, and gave me a reasonable bid. He also arranged for a trenching crew to be at our house at 8 AM the next day, and also someone to saw through about 12 ft. of concrete driveway. The crews were at our house at 8 AM on Tuesday morning, and proceeded to dig the trench and cut an 8 inch path across the driveway. They worked nearly all day, and by mid afternoon the new pipe was installed and connected. The gas company sent out a technician right away, tested the line, and turned the gas back on without hesitation. The next day Fred's 'concrete guy' repaired the cut in the driveway, and did a very professional job. Being without natural gas was a big problem for us (no showers, no laundry). Had it been Winter, we also would not have had heat. Worthy Plumbing made the entire problem go away in short order and at a reasonable cost. You can't ask for better service than that! read more

Just to start out. I'm a landlord and my tenants were happy with the repair that was done. So i wanted to start out saying that i think they did a quality job. Why the 3 stars? I think they overcharged me for the work that was done. i had a plumber that could do it for half the cost they did (minus a toilet). i had tenants that needed it done because a handyman took the toilet off and didn't put on and was smelling the house. I had them do it anyways because i didn't want my tenants to suffer anymore than they have and i think they knew that. I've been asking for an invoice for materials and time of labor. they haven't provided after saying they will and it's been over a week now. So, to be fair. i think they do quality work based on my tenants review, i would just shop around first and get them to price match. i wouldn't recommend to call them first for an emergency. read more

Job was done a couple months back. Called for estimate on gas line replacement. Upon inspection, he gave a competitive estimate so I agreed to have the job done. On the day of the job, Fred arrived 15 minutes early to have paperwork completed. He started the job right on time. He and his partner for the job, Scott, had great communication. I'm not sure if Scott was in training but they communicated respectfully with each other, even checking with each other about what they should do (of course they knew what they were doing!). A couple hours later the job was finished. Cleanup was great as if they weren't even there! The work they did looks great and functions as it should. I called Fred for plumbing repairs. He showed up with his son and another guy. They completed the repair but it took all day. He tried to tell me I needed to pay for the two guys who were with him and did no work....what? No way. Well after a few days, the repairs began leaking and I tried multiple times to have him return to re-repair his original work. He scheduled me for three days later then never showed up despite me calling to remind him. I kept trying daily to get him to return to fix his original crappy repair, he kept promising to show up but NEVER did. My only option now is to file a complaint with the State Contractors Board.
