Funny story, I used to wait…read moreover 3 hours to get a Shake Shack burger at Madison Square Park back when there were only 2 Shake Shack locations. Now you can conveniently order a burger in no time from a location in the airport. You place your food order from a touch screen kiosk. You can also watch your order being prepared by employees in the kitchen. This location has the typical Shake Shack vibe and flair. I ordered the single-patty ShackBurger, a made-to-order quarter pound patty of 100% Angus beef with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. The burger really hit the spot before a flight. The burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and made fresh, with the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and bun. Simple, classic, and satisfying. For an airport location, the quality held up surprisingly well. Service was a bit slow but everything came out hot and neatly put together. Prices are a bit higher at the airport, but the consistency and flavor made it worth it. Solid choice if you're craving a reliable burger at JFK and want something familiar and filling before takeoff.

Perhaps they're evocative of my childhood and youth, when every diner and burger joint served them. So I headed to Shake Shack for some lovely delicious fries. Ordering is a pain. You use a kiosk. No live people. I had gotten a bottle of water. The screen said to "scan" any other items. There is no barcode and no scanner. After saying three or four times that I couldn't scan the water, someone came over. You have to page through the menu. Ugh. Paid, typed in my name, and waited. And waited. Finally, my name was called, and I got my fries and some napkins. I sat I a lounge chair right across from Shake Shack, and.....the fries were cold. Terrible, awful, crushing disappointment. I so rarely eat fries these days. I was anticipating hot, golden, lovely crispy fries. I got lukewarm semi-limp mostly underdone fries. A sad, sad feeling. There's no seating at Shake Shack, but you can sit at a gate or take your food with you. Employees were working very hard, so it's strange that my fries were cold. I picked them up right away when my name was called. I probably won't come back, if I am in this terminal another time.

Dunkin is right in the food court next to a few other food options like H&H Bagels and Custom Burger. The line for Dunkin' was going outside the food court area! It was so long! I decided since I had a lot of time prior to boarding for my flight back home, to wait it out. It certainly was a wait. I ended up waiting about 45 minutes before I could place my order at the register. I ended up getting the following Munchkins - Glazed Donuts Plain Bagel with Cream Cheese Medium Hot Chocolate. By the time I picked up my order and went to my gate, I had about 20 minutes prior to my flight boarding! The hot chocolate was delicious! It was still warm for my flight out to Las Vegas! The bagel was perfectly toasted and there was a decent amount of cream cheese on the bagels. The glazed donuts were just okay. My recommendation would be if it's a early morning flight, and if there is a long line, if you have some extra time, you could order from here, but if your flight is less than 30 minutes in the morning, I'd recommend choosing another option.

She did try to upsell due to the fact that I was drooling and already indecisive over what I saw. I choose the raspberry cheesecake muffin and the mini cheesecake mud pie. The muffin was really good. I was a bit disappointed that the Cheesecake was only on that little portion of the muffin top instead of also within the muffin, it was chocolate oh & moist. The muffin was huge and cost $3.95. The mini cheesecake cost $4.95. It was rich in chocolate. Now this was perfection; it hit the spot. If ever I come through this terminal again, I'd definitely come back. I just wouldn't get the cheesecake muffin.

Who likes that!? Cake batter: not moist enough, and def not big enough for the price tag. RV was an off putting "non fresh" dyed color. No thank you. This 8 month old cupcake spot at the JFK just doesn't have the wow factor for me.
