Stopped by Flatiron Coffee Roasters hoping to get a coffee before my early morning flight. Placed my order and was waiting patiently for my drink but found that staff were chit chatting with each other. When drinks came out, I think someone else took my coffee by accident. The two caramel macchiatos definitely looked different - one had cinnamon powder and more syrup while the other one was less ice (which is what I requested). When I shared my concerns with the staff, they were very dismissive. They didn't offer to ask for more information, or even bother to look at the two receipts I presented. I didn't have the energy to further discuss so I walked away with the wrong drink. While the coffee flavors were decent, the drink was way too sweet and had the cinnamon powder (that I didn't ask for). I couldn't even finish it. I think the prices for the coffees are reasonable compared to NYC. Their other food menus are pricey but typical for airport food. The location itself is pretty spacious with their own tables and couches. I wasn't expecting much from an airport coffee place but I would hope that staff can at least listen to what customers have to say. read more

One sandwich and a single shot of "espresso" put me back $32. I can't blame them too much for that, being in an NYC airport and all, but the service and coffee were completely terrible. The two cashiers had a conversation in front of me while I stood in front of them looking to order. The "espresso" was watery, and massively lacking concentration and body. Was craving a sandwich while waiting for my flight and decided to try here. I'll start with the good. The gentleman working the kitchen who called out orders was super friendly. There were no napkins anywhere on the tables so he gave me a stack. He also wiped the tables as people left. There are lots of tables and seating, and the bench seats along the wall were cushioned and a nice relief from the hard chairs throughout the airport. Now the bad. I ordered the chicken avocado sandwich for $16 and doesn't come with sides. The avocado was completely missing and the chicken super dry. I had to take a bite of sandwich then sip of water because it absorbed all moisture in my mouth. The toasted bread had no spread so made it taste even dryer! Very bad experience. Ordered croissant sandwiches breakfast with chai latte. Cancelled chai late immediately while the order was being taken. Somehow there system got locked and they needed there manager to unlock it, who was not available. I got the sandwiches and later asked for a chai latte separately. Lady in counter started telling that why you need chai latte you already locked one of our register and refused the order. What a class service and professionalism. If your system is not working please make sure that you don't blame customers. Cancellation of an item in the order is regular activity if your company can't handle that then get that fixed and stop blaming customers . Also, please teach some professional etiquettes to people on register as to how to talk to customers politely. Prices also are exorbitant as mentioned in other reviews. read more

I should have read the reviews and would never had ordered here. There was 1 cashier with black framed glasses taking orders. Somehow, she stepped away and another lady helped me out. I ordered the grilled chicken with avocado but no mayo. I asked if the sandwich was hot. The cashier puts down no bacon aioli. The kitchen staff then yelled chicken avocado, what you want? During a layover in Delta Terminal 4 (both Delta Lounges had long queues) @ JFK, I settled on fast casual Flatiron Coffee Roasters for a quick lunch. Their limited kitchen food menu, had my first choice of an egg salad sandwich which I ordered at the counter and only had to wait 5 minutes before my order was called at the kitchen pick up window. It's located in an airport and one in New York so of course it was overpriced but the egg salad mix and spinach were fresh. And it was on slices of one of my favorite marble rye breads from Eli Zabar. There's a logo for Irving Farm New York Coffee Roasters but I didn't confirm that's the coffee product they offer. But offering food products from local small powerhouse businesses aligns to my consumer preferences. The seating area and floors were cleaned between customers by a nice gentleman employee. There's a communal table with stools that offers outlets to charge your electric devices while you sip on a hot beverage and snack on a baked good. There's also a couch seating area in addition to regular tables and chairs. I had time to check out all the options and Flatiron Coffee Roaster located in the large middle hub section toward the A Gates end is worth checking out. read more

This place was conveniently outside Terminal 4 gates. There wasn't much rush. I went for a chai latte, and it was nice.

Servers don't even respond when you say good morning , and the baked goods are stale.

21 minutes to get an iced coffee. Yikes. Get you corporate trainers here for a system review ASAP.

If you are looking for a quick coffee... keep looking for this is not the place! Food looks amazing behind the glass curtain of lies. Once revealed it is stale, bland, and a waste of money. I am a repeating Starbucks customer and because there is no Starbucks past the TSA in terminal 4, I went to Flatiron since it had a catchy slogan outside "For the love of coffee" lol! Latte's are Starbucks are usually stronger in taste because Starbucks uses a specific coffee bean, but they use a lot of coffee in their latte. Here, the barista poured so much more milk than the actual coffee so I was a little disappointed but I knew what I was getting myself into as this is not Starbucks. Their median latte has two shots of espresso and it was a fine grain. The coffee was delicious don't get me wrong, but the steamed milk was too much for a latte. The inside of the store was nice and packed as travelers are chilling but employees do manage to keep the area nice. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. :) read more

Accused me on not being clear with the barista (I had just said I am waiting on hot chocolate after using the kiosk to order). And eventually capped off by saying I must be together with the previous person who complained too, because we both are Indians? On 9/23 at 730 in the morning I had the most disgusting soy latte I've ever tasted. And the worst customer service. When I asked them to make triple espresso latte in a smaller cup, they said they could not do that because the small latte comes with fewer shots of espresso. I told them I didn't want as much milk thats what's in a medium/large and they refused. And made a latte the way they wanted to. I was upset that they did not listen to my request and did what they wanted and when I took a sip of it later, the soy milk curdled and was totally disgusting and clumpy. Came here for a coffee while waiting for my flight. I ordered a double espresso and I got basically half a cup of brewer coffee. It was watered down and it basically tastes like a bad K-cup. Also overpriced. I paid 4.99 plus tax for it. Ok it's an airport but even Starbucks charges less than that for a better espresso. That's saying a lot if Starbucks serves better coffee than a supposedly small chain shop. The seating area was big and there is enough space to work in tables and what not. read more

The blueberry muffin we made the mistake of ordering could have broken a window. And of course it's airport pricing so we're out twenty bucks for something worth waaaay less than that. Awful. Just awful. My "coffee" was made by an untrained moron. The reactor at Chernobyl is cooler than the burnt milk and horrifically-tasting brown liquid standing in as a coffee substitute. I walked from the site of the disaster all the way to gate 38...which could be a mile away, and it is *still* undrinkably hot. I had to keep switching hands and my wife literally had to take out her winter gloves to carry it. With a cardboard sleeve. I scalded my tongue when I tried it at the store and scalded my hand when the super-critical milk splashed out on the walk. They make lawsuits-in-cup, not coffee. Just pour some boiling water on the terminal floor and lick it up for a better experience than flatiron "coffee". Run away, fast, and don't look back. read more

Caramel Macchiato was okay! My Bagels and Lox's was fresh and excellent! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was sooooo relaxing! Thecook here deserves 5 stars simply because was so joyful at 5:30am, but also because she made sure my bagel was even layered with a great sharp cheddar and egg. The prices at this place certainly are NOT cheap for a quick breakfast, but you're at JFK, and the egg and cheddar on a bagel (not on the menu so I requested it) was very good. The latte was also very good and they had almond milk (for an extra dollar). Overall I wish airport food were cheaper, but I was very happy with my food and latte. read more

Got a latte in JFK Terminal 2. Apparently the lid doesn't fit the cup size that I ordered. So the latte poured all over me when I took my first sip. When I asked for a towel to clean up I was given 2 napkins. Also asked for a fresh lid. After trying 3 more lids that also didn't fit I asked for a refund. I was told they can't give refunds.
