Here's a scathing review you can use: --- I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Dr. Mihwa Kim, OD, and their optometry service. I ordered a pair of glasses through them, and from the start, there were constant sketchy upsells. They pushed unnecessary add-ons and made me feel like I was being nickel-and-dimed at every step. But the real issue? The glasses I received **broke in less than 30 days.** When I went back to get them replaced, they made it sound like I was lucky to get a "one-time replacement warranty"--as if they weren't responsible for selling a shoddy product in the first place. Even worse, they outright **admitted that the glasses they sell are cheap and susceptible to breaking.** If they know this, why are they still selling them? To top it all off, they actually had the audacity to charge me a **shipping fee** for the replacement. That's right--I had to **pay extra** to fix an issue caused by their low-quality product. Instead of standing by what they sell, they find every way possible to squeeze more money out of their customers. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Kim and her practice. She was such a joy to work with! Highlights first: Dr. Kim was extremely knowledgeable about many insurance plans and priced out every single thing for me as I chose my lenses and frames. She wanted me to get the best prices and understand how pricing changed based on my selections. I felt zero pressure from her (I'm very sensitive to that) and the real test was when I was considering Gucci frames at $400+ versus Cole Haan frames for half that. She didn't pressure me at ALL to get the more expensive ones. She told me why each one looked great and how each gave off a different look/vibe. She was happy for me when I chose the less expensive ones. I'm a new patient and very particular about covid safety. They thought of everything from typical temp checks, Plexiglass, masks, and the extra mile of having a try on process for frames - I pointed out the ones I wanted to try on, they were placed in a basket, and I was left alone to try them on and place them in a separate bin to be sanitized and put back. I also saw no shortage of cleaning supplies and I believe Dr. Kim was cleaning and wiping down the equipment herself after using it to check my vision. Dr. Kim herself is an absolute joy - conversational and energetic, just seemingly happy to have me there. She was very competent with my screening and prescription. I needed a new glasses prescription for an upcoming Warby Parker order, and my optometrist had stopped taking insurance. Dr. Kim's office was the only office out of 4 in my network (VSP) that I called that had appointments in the next month - and in fact, she had an appointment that very afternoon. I have never had such a pleasant experience at the optometrist. Dr. Kim is very kind and fun to talk to. She made even the slightly uncomfortable parts of the appointment (like where she peers deep into your eyes using a device that gets very close to your eyes) bearable with the conversation. And when I admitted I was going to get glasses on Warby Parker, she didn't dissuade me - she told me that their glasses are fine but can be hard to adjust. I'm wearing my new Warby Parker glasses now. But Dr. Kim was so great, I might be willing to finally buying frames/lenses in person at her office next year--thanks, Dr. Kim, and see you in 2023! read more

She got my PD wrong so my glasses are blurry and can't use them. The frames were on the expensive side. I also ordered for tint on my lens and she had it on the receipt, but the glasses came back with no tint, so she charged my insurance for feature not provided. Exam was very short, and didn't seem thorough. Can't recommend. read more

Dr.Kim is so wonderful! Yes, sometimes there's a small dog that is sometimes in the office, I've never heard it bark or even seen it bother customers so I'm not sure why it was mentioned in a review like she has this yappy, bullshit dog. The front desk girl, Jessica is amazing as well. They go above and beyond for their patients, because they care!! The office is spotless, smells amazing and they take all necessary covid screening before you get your appointment. Jessica is so helpful throughout the whole process; from scheduling your appointment, confirming your insurance, and helping you when you actually arrive in the office. The best! Dr. Kim and her practice exceeded my expectations in every way. Just the fact that she is open on Saturdays would have made me a fan, but that was just the start. The covid precautions are top-notch and made me feel very comfortable. She did a great job with my eye exam and helped me pick out glasses frames for my face! Dr. Kim is wonderful, honest and skilled optometrist. I have been a patient for over 5 years and had an appointment with Dr. Kim in May 2020. The experience was seamless because Dr. Kim and staff follow current California health guidelines for covid safety. Everyone is temperature checked at the door, sample glasses, optometry equipment and office surfaces are sanitized after each appointment. Dr. Kim has been taking care of my eyes for almost 10 years. She's got a great sense of humour, but is very down to earth, personable yet totally professional. She has a good selection of frames and doesn't mind giving me a "woman's opinion" on what looks good on me. I can't wear contacts so it's important to me that my specs look good. Her Assistant, Helen, is a total peach. She knows all the details of my insurance before I even arrive, and calls and arranges and reschedules appointments like a pro. Dr. Mihwa Kim was referred to me by my co-workers. I work across the street from here so not only is the location convenient and easily accessible but Dr. Kim is so sweet and thorough. I also love how honest she was about not wanting to give me too high of a prescription since I tend to get bad reactions like migraines and headaches. She is completely down to earth. Their family dog also stays at the shop during business hours too. His name is Coco, a poodle and he's so cute (12 years old). He's curious and just walks around sniffing stuff, but doesn't get all hyper like I know some dogs tend to. Her assistant Helen is also really sweet and helpful. If Dr. Kim's not in, she can definitely help you. I don't recall how much my contacts were but I came in for a contact lens exam & fitting and it was $139.00 for first time patients and then $ 69.00 every year thereafter. Five stars for service and quality! I'm the type of person who prefers to see the glasses on my face before I make a purchase, so I tend to stay away from online purchases. I walked into World Vision Optometry to check out their selection and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very helpful and knowledgeable. They were nice enough to personally help me decide between a couple frames I had narrowed it down to, and I am quite pleased with my purchase. The prices were very competitive for the brand names they carried and I will most definitely return for my next pair. The only downside to this business is that its all street parking, but a small price to support a local business with great products and service. read more

7/20/15 I'm sitting here now. My appointment was at 330p, I arrived at 320 to complete paperwork. Dr. Kim is going through insurance coverage with a patient and it's now 4p. Finally about to go in. ------- Short, efficient exam. Dr. Kim did not dilate my eyes. Strange, because I have dry eye problems & Medi-Cal only covers ONE exam every TWO years. I have always had my eyes dilated to look at at the back of my eyes, since I was once at risk for retinal detachment. She said "your eyes are too dry, don't want to dilate them". Ok... FYI: if you are over 21, medi-cal does not cover glasses or frames. You will get a prescription for glasses that is covered, though. If you need a contact prescription, it costs $70 at this location. Shrug. I can't say this was my best optometry experience, what with the 30 min wait time and not getting my eyes dilated. So. Next pupil dilation will be a 3 year span. :( *also, the sample of fish oil pills she gave me expired May 2015. Not a terrible thing, as I know I can still take them. The coupon inside was for $2 off eye drops though, win! ------ TLDR: accepts Medi-Cal, long wait time, personable but little attention to detail. read more

I've been here at this location 3 or 4 times. Every time I come in Mia the receptionist gives me a warming greet! She's amazing at answering every single question that you have to ask her she's always on the go helping and super patient. She makes me feel so comfortable, she has helped me picked out two pairs of glasses it's amazing coming here and having someone help you pick out what fits you best and the style. She's great at giving you prices and explaining to you in detail. She's patient and has great customer service! I definitely recommend for you guys to come check this place out. Just had an exam and ordered contacts. Dr. Kim was extremely thorough as well as very friendly and down-to-earth. She and the reception staff both clarified my insurance coverage and any additional fees that would apply, prior to the exam - no surprises. I received a prescription for contacts, and for some medicine to help a condition in one of my eyes. Dr. Kim also answered all of my questions at length, about various eye symptoms I've been having, and she gave me advice on how to address the causes. I am glad I chose World Vision Optometry. And there are two places for locking up bikes right outside, and great bicycle lanes on Telegraph Avenue to get there. *Be aware that if your insurance covers a certain amount toward "eye exam and contacts", it might not be enough to cover the contacts and exam -- even though it looks like you get both of those services free, according to your insurance. I had to pay $60 for the exam as well as a $10 copay. The 6-month supply of contact lenses were covered, no charge. I have VSP insurance. read more
