This store is music to my ears! I love everything about it! It is very much like your usual world market store where you can find a little bit of everything. Very unique items and I'm loving it. This is by far one of my favorite stores to shop at for special occasions, from birthdays, to go aways and specialty the holidays, as you can find unique little treasures that strike conversation and curiosity. I love World Market and so when I was in Otay, I knew I had to check them out. It was the day after Halloween so Halloween treats and decorations were marked down which was great, I was with my four year old niece and she was so excited to get a sweet little treat. There are so many cute things I wanted to get, Christmas decorations and snacks were ready to be put out on full display. We saw such cute little plates with Christmas decor that I had to control myself on getting. I ordered two items online. My first item was charged a $12.95 shipping charge even after it said if you buy $40 or more shipping is NOT CHARGED. I paid $78.17 for the same items I bought where shipping was not charged I paid $64.91 the clerk said if your items are not damaged you don't get your $12.95 back so I guess they want you to either brake or scratch your items because they were both glass items. You need to return the shipping cost to the customer!! read more

My family and I look forward to the "Golden Nutcracker" event every year. It's something we do for fun, splitting into teams and hoping to maybe win a little extra so the kids can each pick out a special candy or item from the store. It's always been a tradition we enjoy until this visit. Unfortunately, the World Market in Chula Vista completely ruined the fun and surprise of the event. What appeared to be the manager blatantly cheated. The same man who stopped us to explain the rules openly guided another customer directly to where the last golden nutcracker was hidden. I then had to answer my child's question: "Why did that worker tell that man where it was?" No parent should have to explain why an employee is helping someone cheat. It was incredibly upsetting for my kids and for us as a family. We participate for fun, not just the $20 or $50 reward, but watching someone be unfairly given an advantage especially by the person in charge completely ruins the experience. The kids were left confused and disappointed, and honestly, so were we. We've spent a decent amount of money at World Market over the years because we love the variety of items they offer. But after this experience, we won't be returning for a while. It's unacceptable to behave like that, especially right in front of children. Very disappointing and extremely unprofessional. read more

Of course, World Market always has fun snacks, cute toys, and fantastic furniture and decor--but what really sets the Chula Vista location apart is the staff. The manager, James, went above and beyond to help me with an online order that required a bit of extra coordination to fulfill from their single location. He also let me know about a promotion I could take advantage of--it turned out to be a genuinely great deal for me. I never felt pressured at all; he just wanted to make sure I got the best value. James answered all my questions patiently and helped make the whole process smooth. He and the team even helped load my (many!) items into my car. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I ordered two indigo accent chairs online and just went to pick them up. In the boxes, they were too big for my car so I thought I'd have to make 2 trips from Coronado. However, the two young men assisting me, Noah and Victor, saved me. I absolutely love this store. We went to the location in La Jolla and this store was cute and had a lot from food to furniture and jewelry. I found some Hello Kitty food items especially the sodas and marshmallows. I was tempted to buy all the Hello Kitty items, but I didn't. They also had some cute jewelry I was looking at. The hours on their website and in their emails do not corroborate with the hours posted in the store window. They open at 10:00am on Saturday and Sunday. Emails and web say 9:00am. Came here not too long ago on a weekday afternoon.. if you are into artsy, unique, decorative, cultural, cutesie "stuff" and enjoy browsing, this is the type of store for you. A large, open space store filled with products big and small. They offer a lot of home decor and just random stuff, I don't know how else to explain it. LoL. I'm not ashamed to admit that my favorite area is their food section located in the middle back of the store. They have a bunch of snacks, oils, sauces, drinks, and popular food brands from all over the world. Prices here are typically a little higher, but there are also good deals scattered throughout the store.. while you can find some food goods for better prices at other specialty shops, there are others that you can't find anywhere else but here.. The checkout area is a bit small considering the size of the store, and there were only two employees at the registers, so the line was longer than necessary. We've had more than one instance where we bought something on sale, then were surprised during checkout that there was also an additional discount! For example, we bought a pouf from here a few months ago that was on sale for $60, but at check out was in the $40s - and it's held up so nicely! I discovered World Market years ago when I lived in Texas so I was definitely stoked to see one open 5 mins down the street. I love the variety of goods they sell here. I could literally lurk around this store for hours and it never fails that my bill is over $100 each time..I also prefer *gasp* this store over Target anytime! I came today for a gift for a friend. I love the variety of elegant, funny, delicious little things I could add to a gift. They have everything.. from toys.. books.. jewelry.. house decor.. clothing.. spa day.. international goodies! Sometimes they give samples. You can also mix and match beer packs. Lots of different drinks from other countries.. excellent beer and wine selection and when you're done.. go ahead and get suckered into all the random trinkets and must have items you end up throwing into your cart right before you get to the cash register. I was so happy to find my favorite childhood snacks and sweets at this store. The store is brand new and is in walking distance from where we live . It's quite small compared to the ones I have been previously,but it's nice and clean and they do carry all my favorite items. I love shopping at Cost Plus World Market stores for various items such as snacks, beverages, clothing, gifts, housewares and home furniture needs. However, out of all the World Market stores I've visited, this location always has items out of stock that I'm in search or in need of. Just recently, I was in search of a specific beverage that showed they had 3 left in stock online at this location. After receiving assistance and doing a search in store, their system showed they actually had 5 in stock rather than 3. Unfortunately, the employee had no luck searching for them on the shelves in store so we gave up and I decided to go to another World Market further north from this location. Mind you, this wasn't the first time I was in search of an item in their store (that showed "in stock" online at this location) that they did not have stocked visibly on their shelves. In comparison to other World Market locations, this one has less aisles and variety of items. However, I do find appreciation in the items they sell as they're all authentic, high quality, eye-catching and worth sharing. read more

I have to say I was so stoked that they opened up a Cost Plus World Market. This place is awesome to find beautiful decor and furniture. Definitely is affordable and you can use coupons!! I went to the grand opening and right away I was helped by a kind gentleman who worked there. His name is Alex N. He instantly caught my attention because he offered to get me a cart when I had a bunch of stuff in a little basket. He also helped me with a few questions I had about some promotions. We love the World Market and what a great addition to Millenia! The store has great deals most of the time and has a really nice rewards program so don't forget to sign up. The staff are always so friendly too particularly Beth and Juliette. They helped us with our last purchase for a dining set and we felt like they're really there to help and they even put our dining table and chairs on hold for a few days since our home isn't ready yet for move in. Came back in yesterday for a price adjustment for those items since they have an even better deal in furnitures for the 4th of July sale and Marisol gladly helped me and save me more money. I absolutely love that Cost Plus World Market finally opened a location in Otay Ranch. It is so much closer to my home compared to the now-closed Downtown San Diego location. It is smaller in comparison to the one that I would frequent in Downtown, but it is fine. They have everything I love about this store. Gourmet foods normally found in other countries, home décor that uses embroidery and style cues from other countries, and of course their unique toiletries that you just can't find anywhere else. This store is well-kept and the service is amazing. Associates are very kind and make you want to return, of course, I will. Yay! read more

The store overall is alright but I was a little disappointed that even though I left my wallet at home by accident, they didn't accept Apple Pay so I just left the store empty hands. pros...now we don't have to drive to downtown, opps they closed that one down. now we don't have to drive to la mesa, yes that's it. this place is a very fun place to go and visit and get some interesting things. i love that they really do carry a few thing from most everywhere. i know that i can always find something that i want in that store. i almost never leave there empty handed. it is such a fun place, they have a little of everything: cookware, food, wine, alcohol, furniture and decor as well. so eclectic in nature, something for everyone. i love that they have really nice snacks from everywhere. now it is my new place to get tim tams, and other snacks. the cookware and other kitchen things are also pretty good. plates, bowls, silverware and linens all can be had there. they also stock some pretty nifty furniture, both indoors and outdoorsy things. they also have very friendly and attentive staff. i know that i was asked several times if i needed help or assistance. when i did ask for something they were very quick to lead me to the item i was in search of. needless to say, left with a smile that day. cons...like i mentioned before, most big box stores like to give south of the 8 freeway bonsai stores. we just don't get a very big store, we get a smaller less well stocked store in general. if you go to the store in la jolla village square, you will see more variety in nearly everything. we have just a small taste of it. at least they have graced us with their presence, but in a way it is also saying that we are not sophisticated enough to appreciate the real thing. well i guess i'm a good example, i don't even us correct grammar or punctuation. well i digress, it's nice and thanks for building one down in the south bay. wish it was better stocked with stuff, and it was a bit bigger. read more
