When I travel for business, I try to carve out an hour or two if I can, and look up the nearest fabric store on Yelp. So I was happy last week when I noticed World Class Textile pop up in my search. I had just over an hour to spare, so I zipped over there. Little did I know how monstrous this store is! It's not one, but TWO giant rooms stacked literally floor to ceiling with fabric. Most of which is on a roll (though some are folded). It's mostly upholstery fabric and apparel fabric here, although they also had pretty much everything else you could want, too. The trick is you need to have time to do some major digging and shuffling around of the rolls to find what you want. But it's probably in there...somewhere! Luckily, the rolls are well-organized by fabric type, and many are even hanging on wall racks. Besides fabric, they also sell thread, zippers, trim, and a few other accessories - though if you're looking for specific notions this is probably not the place to find them. Very few items are priced, so you will have to ask one of the helpful employees who roam the store. To be honest, as a first time visitor, this place was a bit intimidating. After looking around, I decided I might just get their website name and buy online when I got home. I asked, and they don't do online sales. So I skedaddled back to the vinyl section and grabbed some yardage ($10/yd!) of a few prints I'll try out for bag-making. What this store lacks in charm it definitely makes up for in selection. If you're making bridal or formal wear projects, or doing some home decor, this should be your very first stop on your fabric buying journey.

Nice little shop with a wide variety of fabric at affordable price. Friendly staff. Parking is a little messy and there aren't signs to tell you what's what so it's a lot of eyeballing and feeling. So just fyi.

The choices are unlimited!

If I have a favorite fabric store, this would be it. We've been here several times and the projects I've stated (don't always finish) we're destined to be fabulous becoming of the fabric. I have purchased silk shantung and mad a beautiful skirt. I bought upholstery for recovering a loveseat that was a project way out of my league and I have purchased beautiful silk and embroidered fancy fabric that became a baptismal gown. The baptismal gown won 2nd place at the CA State Fair. So when I could find what I needed at my local Joann store, we headed here, about 40 minutes from home. I found 3 out of the 4 fabrics I need to make a Frodo Baggins costume. The easiest part of making the costume was finding the fabric. I love this store and couldn't imagine sewing without access to their inventory and the amazing prices they offer. Thank you!

Now I can ONLY review partially because I just went in to see if they had what I was looking for. That's to say the least, it's soooo much fabric in this store I didn't know where to start. I went in looking for rainbow fabric for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica and I'm having a swimsuit made. Maybe 5 minutes into looking around in a guy (may have been the owner) asked if I needed help, I told him I was just looking and he responded with "let me know I'll help you". I didn't ask the cost of anything but definitely will go back there to get what I was looking for. Some of the stuff I liked and will be going back to get I took pictures of so I can go back and find it. My oldest son who was with me even found some fabric he wants. Once I purchase fabric I'll do an update.

Selection and prices are very good. Nothing is priced, which is a bit frustrating, and you literally have to either find an employee and ask the price for every fabric you might like, or have an employee following you around the store as you browse to tell you the price. That annoyance aside, the selection of apparel, upholstery and crafting materials is really good, and most of the prices for the full sized bolts of fabric is worth the visit. I'll definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.

This place has two sides. I couldn't even capture everything in this photo.

Reviews are largely positive. Shoppers highlight the friendly, helpful staff, wide fabric selection, and affordable prices. The store is also clean and organized.

Ask the Community - World Class Textile

I just got a beautiful shearling jacket (Marlboro Man style) looking for bone buttons to go with it. Any ideas?

They might sell buttons, but in my experience they don't sell much in terms of notions other than basic thread. I'd try Hi-Fashion Fabrics.

I have no idea what I am doing. I need guidance. Is this place helpful or will they blow me off for more practiced customer who knows what they want? I don't want to repeat my experience at Joanne's which was a waste of time.…

The staff are very helpful and polite. They try to answer all questions even when they're busy. Hopefully this helps.

Adj: locally owned mom & pop fabric store…read more Minh Phat is owned by Mr. Minh, he's a Vietnamese-Chinese gentleman who's owned this fabric store for decades. I've actually driven past this store many times, but I've not had the opportunity or reason to stop in. But recently, I had a project and needed some specialty fabric. After calling several stores, I decided to stop by this one first. It's easy to get here, it's in Little Saigon, just off of Stockton and 47th/Elder Creek. Plenty of parking in a private lot with a few other stores in the plaza. We came on a mid-morning on a holiday Monday. There were just one set of customers checking out as we got here. I asked for the fabric from the boss lady who was measuring out fabric and she quickly asked a few questions and then led me to look at what they have and told me the price and after I agreed, she cut off the appropriate length and directed me to the front of the store to pay. Note that if you are buying less than $10 worth of merchandise, you might want to bring cash unless you don't mind getting charge a 50c credit card surcharge. The owner rang up my purchase and then we were on our way. The owner was pretty nice, he explained that he's who the store is named after and he's owned it for decades. They also speak Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin both) and Vietnamese, but their English was just fine too. In addition to tons of different kinds of fabric, they also sell "bling" you can add on like laces, jewels, special trims, and they have tons of buttons and zippers to choose from too. Overall, a great store to shop in for your fabric needs and I'm glad to shop and support a mom & pop local store.

There was one gentleman there who I believe owns the shop. Super kind and a really fast worker. We walked in and were greeted by him as he worked with other customers. There feels like there are hundreds of fabrics to choose from. Different colors and textures and materials. We found a bunch of beautiful fabrics to use for an altar project. We weren't able to pick up everything we needed in one day because we needed input, but we were able to set some things off to the side and pick them up the next day. I'll definitely be visiting here again for the selection. It's kind of tight in there so it can be hard to move and the fabrics aren't the most orderly, but you can find what you're looking for if you have some time.

Came here recently to buy more silk, but this time for my daughters. Alas, they didn't have a very large selection of 100% silk. In the smaller front section of the store you can find interesting, beautiful, Asian-inspired, unusual, and banal fabrics by the bolt, yard, etc. Some remnants can be purchased along with complete or partial Saris, too. Not just a fabric store, as their Business name contains the word "Plus". The plus is that a little more than half of the store is dedicated to Indian groceries, music, accessories and more. My daughter also spied fresh coconuts. As we left the store, walking past all the shiny accessories, my daughter said "Mommy, can we come back here?" "I like this store" (she's a girl with her eye on bright shiny objects, indeed). P.S. Parking is in the back, behind the store. And they are closed on Mondays.
