***I would actually give it 3.5 stars***…read more Background: I work out about 6x/week and I'm a runner. I completed the 7 day free trial period with my friend and that's the basis for this review. Pros: -Great for people who enjoy working out in groups -Efficient 45 min workout -You sign up for classes via their dedicated app, then it can be added to the calendar in your phone -The raised padded floor is great for those of us with knee problems, it makes for a soft landing - they have child care -you can complete workouts from home video chat -they have women's only classes -unisex bathrooms with baby changing tables -they offer one-on-one support with nutrition (not sure how often) Cons: -Not so great for people who need more instruction because the class moves quickly -About 5-7 mins of the 45 mins is dedicated to warm-up and instructions, which makes for a short workout for some - The app doesn't tell you what the focus of the workout is going to be, so if you work out on your own you risk working on the same muscle group you already focused on by yourself -only class based workouts, no cardio machines, no time to stretch or do anything on your own -not open on Sundays -No locker room/showers Overall: This would make for a great secondary gym for someone who can't focus/doesn't have the motivation to complete HIIT workouts on their own (seeing as how there are plenty of free options online). It's a no frills, no thrills type of gym, get in, do your workout, and leave. They don't even have towels you can use. It's all about community here, so if that's what you're looking for, then this would be good for you. You must wear a face mask everywhere except while on the padded floor.

I initially got hooked as I was unfocused at the gym. The daily variety with the protocol sets up a whole week of great workouts. Complimentary child-watch for those with kiddos - allowing you can have 45 mins of time for you for your workout! Always tons of high fives and encouragement from everyone during the workout and overall such a great vibe!

Disappointing experience. I finally worked up the courage to go into Fusion to inquire about…read morepersonal training. The manager took my information to send via text information about pricing, contract terms and conditions, etc. that I asked about when I walked in. I received only pricing information the same day (Wednesday, 6 Sep). I replied via text same day with thanks and asked if Joel was available the following week for the initial assessment and was told that if anything opened up, I'd receive a text (and that another trainer might be available). I responded that I didn't mind waiting for Joel and said the waiting list is fine, but could I get on the schedule for his next available opening -- just to be sure there was something confirmed on the calendar at some point because what if I couldn't make it to a spontaneous opening. I did not hear back. So I followed up via text two days later, Friday, 8 Sep... I kindly reiterated that I'm happy to have my name on a waiting list, but could I also just secure a date for an available time in the future -- even if it's a couple weeks away -- for the peace of mind ... otherwise I'd just consistently have to hope that something might open up and that my schedule would align (a likely challenge!). The manager responded and thanked me for my patience, again saying she'd try to get me in next week and that Joel is booked. AGAIN, I said that I didn't mind waiting, but could I Please. Just. Schedule. A. Known. Open. Slot. (in addition to the waiting list, fine). Once more, the manager either missed or disregarded my point entirely, saying once again that she would try to get me in soon and to be patient. Two and a half weeks later, and I haven't heard back since... Patience wasn't the issue -- I said multiple times that I didn't mind at all to wait (I didn't expect him to be available the next day!); I just wanted to secure a future spot without relying on the hope of a random opening. That's not unreasonable for a person with a full-time job. I spoke with a friend whose experience reflected a similar challenge--said that every week, it was a struggle to get on the trainers' calendars. Seems they've got plenty of business to keep everyone busy, so that's great for them as a small business in a competitive industry, but boy am I disappointed at this approach to business operations and (prospective) customer service. I was excited about picking up my wellness journey here; it's a shame.

Just the right way of doing fitness as business. Joel,…read moreAnthony and Gloria are amazing and hard working. The whole 45 minutes of intense exercise is very well designed class, aimed to push you to the limit (not easy to do while coordinating 8 people and limited space) . Personal training for a reasonable price is excellent as well. The workout usually target whole body which is great (no separate leg or upper body days) Fusion beats the pretentious and $$$ Lifetime, where the classes are not during convenient time and expensive. The cheaper version to be considered is N-Zone - thats smelly other people socks though and not overly clean. Another choice perhaps would be a private friend-of-a-friend-woman-owned gym - a very questionable quality and fitness knowledge. There is no doubt in Fusion's trainers expertise - Joel and Anthony are extremely fit. Joel, Anthony and Gloria rock! Great business value proposition and fitness done right. XO

Cool studio and location…read more Initially, I did not like the layout of the studio. The fact that parking needs to be validated each time (I'm assuming) wastes unnecessary time, especially when you're already running late. The Reston location grows on you after a few times. I know someone for whom this is their home studio. Parking -- The first time I came here; no one informed me where to park so I went to Metro garage parking and paid about 10$. Waste of money. After class, I was then informed I can use either the PenFed outdoor parking or Aperture parking garage, the latter of which needs to be validated. I have been using PenFed for a while, it's free parking thankfully. Now they say don't use PenFed, only use the covered parking garage, and have it validated at the front desk. It's an inconvenience, sure, and it wastes time but the upside is that it is free parking at least. Equipment -- The main plus points for me are the more modern and up to date equipment in the studio. For example, treadmills have bigger buttons and screen, and rowers feel a bit more reactive. However, a minus is that some quick buttons are missing -- for example, I like to go AO at speed of 11, but for buttons there is only 10 and next is 12. There is no 11. I might need to change my speed, but this is inconvenient and overall I preferred it when the quick action buttons were on the right, IIRC I could easily hit 11 that way to get to my AO speed. But, I'll give it a pass as overall it is slightly better than other studios. Studio and Experience -- I like the layout of the studio though it takes a while, and the front desk people are largely pleasant and easy enough to get along with. However, I struggle with forming social connections with the other members, and usually it's incredibly hard for me to even get one word out. I really would like to make at least one acquaintance so I will redouble my efforts, but I find it very challenging and I'm not sure why OTF promotes this kind of mentality in its members, as it's rather off-putting. All in all, I struggle to get along with other members, but the studio is good, has solid enough equipment apart from few minor gripes, and the coaches and front desk are friendly enough. I wouldn't mind revisiting this studio again.

They have pole classes and Lyra and fabric - super fun! They may have more, but those are the ones I've seen and considered. Since I'm relatively new to aerial arts, I've only taken a few classes here for Lyra and fabrics, but I have loved the classes. The class size is 6 or fewer, so your instructor has plenty of time to help you if you're lost, confused or, you know, stuck in the air. The instructors are talented individuals who take the time to model the skills and are adept at figuring out how to help you see the skills from different perspectives. They change cues and point out different muscles, movements and positions to cater to the student. There are mirrors in the front of the aerial studio, so, you can see what you're doing. It is helpful, but it can be a little daunting. I've never had a problem finding parking here. The cost is affordable as far as aerials arts classes are priced. There are options for class packages if you are interested in going regularly. Have fun, it's a blast!

Life Time isn't horrible, but recently I have been noticing some very annoying things…read more 1. The basketball court was completely removed, which I was highly looking forward to using after getting my membership. Turns out it was replaced with a pickleball court. The thing that bothers me is the fact that half of the basketball court area was already a pickleball court, and they probably only replaced everything to make more money off pickleball lessons and stuff. 2. Things haven't been changing in a positive way. Like I said before, the basketball court was removed purely as an extension of the already existing pickleball court. Also, some of the gym equipment is pretty outdated and not getting fixed. Furthermore, the staff really don't care about members and just completely listen to the people who are ruining the experience for others, and getting people kicked out of a spot they were already in. The staff also tend to listen to the older person without understanding whats really going on. 3. Most of the Life Time membership is really just giving you access to more purchases instead of owning up to their slogan, "Healthier way of life." The whole Life Time experience really just seems to be a cash grab instead of what it promises.
