I had a gas line leak discovered by SDG&E after I had my house tented for termites. I called WorkRight and they were out the next morning. The Tech, Nicholas, was fantastic. He worked over the next few days to replace several feet of age-damaged underground gas pipe. WorkRight acquired the required City permits and arranged to have the gas company come out for the final inspections of the completed repairs. This plumbing company is the king of JUNK fees. They only tell you about their hourly fee on the call, but when you get the invoice, you are in for a big surprise. After charging the first 30 minutes of the first hourly rate of $155 for travel time, they add on-truck fuel charges, materials used (towel, etc.), and fees. My restaurant main line was backed up on Sunday, so I called work right. Tech came clear out the main line (less than an hour). After clearing the main line drain, he wanted to check everything else and then he snaked the men's restroom without our knowledge. Doing so, he got the snake stuck and proceeded with next 3 hours to try getting it out. Eventually, he called his supervisor, he cut the snake, leaving the end of the snake and part of the line stuck in the drain of the men's restroom. He said one of his supervisors will come and take it out. We agreed that once it is out, we will proceed with the payment. Tech mentions not to put water or anything else in the men's restroom in the meantime. Left behind his tool cut up in our drain. Following week work right has been contacting me for invoice not for the bigger issue that they left. Called other plumber to take a look at it. My wife came home in the afternoon to find our garage filled with water - the water heater was gone! We looked for recommendations on Yelp and found several companies. Some specialized in water heaters and others were general plumbers, but none of them could even come to look until the next day. I called Workright because of their rating, and they are located nearby work so I can follow up easily if I need to. The receptionist told me someone would come over and do the work within the next hour or so which was great. So I told her to go ahead. Within half an hour, Evan called me. He is the estimator, and over the phone gave me a price. I asked if someone could do the work the same day and he told me they could, and would be there in about an hour. Then he gave me the option of saving money by getting my own water heater and letting them install it, or having them pick it up and install it. Either way, they were to remove the old water heater. Although the price was outstanding if I picked up my own water heater, I told them to do it because I don't have a large truck for transport and we wanted it done that day. About 5:30 pm Kenny arrived at the house and started to work. Because of the install location, there were some difficulties in getting it done, but Kenny worked until 10:30 pm to finish it. He didn't try to sell us any additional parts or service, and was totally professional and respectful. The work was done right the first time, and needless to say, we are very happy. The only downside was communication: I had to email and call multiple times during the course of the morning before I got a confirmation that they would come in the afternoon. (Old pipes) Jason showed up on time, personable and professional. He was having an issue unclogging the bathroom drain so instead of giving up and setting another appointment to have one of their specialist come, he called Brando one of their experts to assist him. Hired this company to replace some old bathroom sink faucets among other things. They had to return 3 days in a row to fix leaks where they had worked. Then a couple weeks later we discovered another one of the sinks they had worked on had a leak underneath. The manager or owner flat out refused to return to fix this leak. I was also told that they would not service our home in the future either. BUYER BEWARE - this company does NOT warranty their defective work and refuses to finish the job. My sons heard gushing water, which was leaking down in the crawl space under the house, Because they felt heat in the stairwell wall where they heard the gushing, I turned off the hot water heater. We have first american home warranty, but I have found a lot of their plumbing and pool companies that they work for to be shoddy. With my pretty wall at stake, I looked on yelp and was dithering between a few companies. The plumber from the home warranty gave a report, said he'd have to cut in multiple places and thought the issue might be in the floor upstairs. This was last Thursday, and we were 6 days with no hot water! Based on the reviews on yelp, I called Workright, and their dispatcher, Jennifer was friendly and helpful, and got right back to me. Within a couple hours, the plumber, Frankie arrived. He ascertained that the leak was actually on the ground floor, which was accessible from my son's closet (my pretty wall and tile upstairs were unmolested!) The copper pipe was totally corroded. I called workright and describe the issue of the leak. They sent a micky mouse plumber that simpoly snake down the pipe and thought his job is done and wanted to charge me $200. Before he left we test the leak again and it is still there, the plumber said he will have to come back but I need to pay him for the service. Not getting the problem solved, he insisted on charging me. It is not only waste my time and cost me money. Never again, beware! I had a problem with the flushing mechanism in my toilet tank. When the tech arrived he explained he did not have the part and would head down the street to the plumbing supply shop. He took my toilet tank so he could match the part. He was in and out of my house in less than 15 minutes. About 20 minutes later he called to let me know he found the part and we made an appointment for 2 days later. My appointment was for 9:30 by 10:30 no one showed up or called. I finally called them and talked with a Claudia the dispatcher who said "well this is not my fault the plumber is supposed to call you if he is running late." She called me back 10 minutes later and asked if he could come by later that afternoon. I had taken a half day off work for this appointment and therefore rescheduled for two days later in the afternoon. This time they told me he would arrive between 1:00 and 3:00. Well by 3:30 no one showed up, and I had to take my husband to the train station. At 3:40 he showed up assembled the tank in the front seat of his truck came in the house and installed it. I was running out the door at 4:00 and asked him to leave the invoice at my front door. To my surprise the invoice was for $380.00. I could of bought a whole new toilet for that. When I called to inquire I was told the hourly rate is $75.00 an hour. A truck charge of $20.00 every time the truck comes to your house and the part was $38.00. I have no problem paying for the parts, and the 45 minutes of labor/driving and even one truck visit but not the jacked up price they charged me. They sent me a revised bill of over $240.00. Am I compensated for my time off work? HA HA HA! I will see them in small claims. read more
