After stabilizing everything by shutting off the water and gas, I came onto Yelp to look for highly rated companies with 24/7 service. I wasn't aware that plumbers don't sleep, the first company I called sent a technician out the same night. After I received the quote I uploaded it to an AI that told me that it was a good solution but significantly more expensive than I should be paying. I decided I would also call a highly rated company that specialized in water heaters, and the AI listed JG Water Heaters as well as a couple of others I left a message for JG and the owner called me back quickly. We spent about 15 minutes on the phone talking about the solution, the prices, the options, the risks, etc. His verbal quotes were significantly lower than the other company, and he could send a technician out first thing in the morning. The information that I uploaded to the AI resulted in a thumbs up and a couple clarifying questions, but seeing as though I was in the middle of a water emergency I wasn't going to go out and get the normal 4 to 5 quotes for work The technician arrived precisely on time the next morning, examined the entire situation and determined that I had two really good options. A plug-in place replacement 50 gallon tank, or to go tankless. The outlets, gas lines, vents, etc. were all perfect for tankless and they gave me a competitive quote. I decided I did not want to go through flooding again and decided to spend the extra money on the tankless system. Over the next 4 to 5 hours the technician worked diligently installing the system, and he wasn't even bothered by my occasional visits and questions. At one point the owner came out to drop off some equipment and I got to meet him in person. After the install was complete we went through the house to make sure everything was working properly, and the technician hauled away the old hot water heater and cleaned up after himself. My adult son took the first shower with the New system and said it was perfect. No issues at all, although I had to turn up the temperature a little bit to what we were used to. I highly recommend JG Water Heaters. Great people, super fast response, and what seems like a reasonable price. I'd be more confident if I got more quotes, but AI is pretty good at evaluating proposals and they said this was a good one. I have confidence that if anything goes wrong they would come out in a heartbeat to take care of it. This time around, our Rheem water heater failed before reaching even 7 years, despite having a 12‑year warranty. Even though Quick is closed on weekends, Brandon texted me and set us up first thing Monday morning. Ben (sales) was extremely helpful, walked me through all the options, and made a genuine effort to get Rheem to honor the warranty. Unfortunately, Rheem couldn't provide a replacement and instead offered fair market compensation (still TBD). Not thrilled with Rheem, but Ben handled the situation professionally and kept me informed throughout. We ultimately went with a Bradford White, and Sammy installed it the same day. His work was excellent--professional, efficient, and spotless cleanup. The Bradford White + installation was very reasonable and very surprisingly comparable to my prior installation. Very impressed with Quick's responsiveness, professionalism, and ability to turn everything around in a single day. Highly recommend them.
