Terrible Experience I am extremely disappointed with the service we received from Elite Rooter. What began as a simple call to clear a backed-up kitchen sink turned into months of stress, property damage, and ongoing issues. After researching local companies, we chose Elite Rooter based on their positive reviews. They arrived and began working on our drain from the exterior of the home. During the service, we were told that our plumbing system was outdated and urgently needed replacement. We were quoted $45,000 for new plumbing lines. While on our property, their crew cut holes into our kitchen and bathroom walls to access pipes. No protective measures were taken to cover our home or belongings, resulting in fine dust and debris covering the entire interior. Shortly after, they attempted to upsell additional services, claiming our water lines were leaking. This raised concerns, so we hired a second professional for an inspection (at our own expense of $300). That inspection revealed that Elite Rooter had damaged our main water line. We never experienced a leak prior to their work. When confronted, Dion, the project manager, admitted fault and agreed to reimburse the inspection cost and replace the water lines at no charge. Omar quoted me a price to install 2 new toilets at $275 per toilet and I would purchase the toilets. I had an appointment for a return visit at 8 - 9 this morning to do the actual installation. No Show. I called and apparently my appointment didn't get to the scheduler. They sent another tech, Stan, out sometime after 11 a.m. He was given the task of telling me that my NEW price would be $750 and I was told I had to put a $50 down payment on today's service! Please read to the end: My toilet was blocked and started leaking from the bottom, I called last night, Nov 13th, and they said they would have someone out to me within the hour. This was about 4.30 pm. No-one arrived. I keep calling and they stated that the technician was doing extra work at the appt before me and would be there soon. I called twice afterwards and kept getting the runaround. I then, trying to understand, made an appt for the morning of Nov 14th. They said someone would be with me bergen 8 and 9 am. I said it's that definite as I will have to take time off work to be here for them. They said yes as it's the first morning appt. So next morning I call at 8:30 am to see if anyone is coming and the lady who answered says that all the technicians were in a meeting and wouldn't be able until 9:30 and 10 am. At that point I told them to stuff their company and told them my time has been wasted as I could've called someone else the previous evening. This is a company that doesn't know what their front end is doing, total chaos and a complete waste of time and the phones who answer the phones are full of b.s. which I'm sure is removed in a more timely manner than my toilet blockage was. They simply don't care it appears. EDIT: I had a call from the supervisor wanting to make things right so they sent a technician out and he arrived at 11:30 on the 14th. He fixed my toilet in a couple of hours and was very professional and friendly. He left my bathroom clean and tidy. His name is Grayson Davis. If you read this review, I originally had a one star rating but since have edited it to a 5 star based on Grayson doing a great job and the company attempting to make up for the previous inconveniences. Two polite and professional men came out promptly, thank you, but they did not have the equipment necessary to accurately diagnose or open the blocked sewer line. After an hour or so a polite and professional field supervisor came out with a camera, and after a bit said they found the problem and opening the line would require significant work, about $6500 (really?), but he could get it done today--which was important, very important, but too pricey to hire without a second opinion. New contractor's second opinion was $99, but he brought a camera and showed me where the block was, why it happened, how to prevent it from happening again, and cleaned it all out as part of his $99 call. Polite and professional is great, but competency is greater. Very disappointing. read more

I reached out requesting a quote on obtaining a second opinion for plumbing work. The website asked me availability for an appointment which I entered. I never received a call or text or message confirm the appointment or providing the requested quote. Eventually he said $400 and the operations officer called me after I said no, and lowered the price to $300. Received a quote to replace the fill value on 3 toilets and install a new water supply line. The total cost was $1,949.94. They also provided a quote for me to replace all 3 toilets for $2,500. Why would I need to do that if only the supply line needs to be repaired? Anyways, assuming I go through with the repair, the materials alone should be no more than $45-60. I have no idea why this company is charging so much for this work. Received another quote from another reputable licensed plumber and the cost was $275 to do the work. Much more in-line with what the cost should be. I'm not saying they misdiagnosed my issue. I'm saying that their costs are 7x greater than what it should be. Found Elite Rooter from Google search to unclog my home's main drain and they were there within the hour. Grayson arrived with a helper and unclogged the drain on the kitchen/garage side of my house, but informed me that some of the pipe was broken, as they used a camera to look. Said there was no bottom of pipe to carry liquids. I was able to view and he showed me. Coincidently, Grayson confirmed after my wife showed him a wet gravel area outside our house, that we have a water leak in our water line below our home's slab. Grayson showed me my water meter and the dial that keeps moving as proof of a leak. Our kitchen floor felt unusually warm from the hot water line being broken in the slab. Warm water meant that at least the hot water line was broken. My house in Clairemont was built in 1962 and I knew there was a time that this would happen, but to be faced with replacing drains and water lives in my home at the same time blind sided me. Grayson advised to make new drain line on the exterior of the home and tie into the main drain and to avoid tearing up slab inside my home. Seemed like a sensible solution to me. For the water line leak, Grayson recommended new lines from the street meter to the house, then up to attic and throughout house. This was a lot for me to absorb, two major projects at the same time. I asked him for the cost and he asked for time to work up a price. A few minutes later he gave me prices verbally: $25k for the repipe job and $17k for the new drain line. When I expressed my surprise, he said they have financing available and gave me the price per month I could pay by financing. I asked him for a written quote and he sent me an email from a finance firm named Good Leap that was not a quote, but an estimated monthly payment. I asked him again for an itemized quote for his estimates for a new drain and repiping, saying that this is a big decision and that I was not going to make a decision at that time. I felt pressured by Grayson to make a decision. Grayson said that he would follow up with a written quote by email and that it would be sent later that night (Friday) or the following day, Saturday. As of Sunday evening, I have not received a quote. I wrote a check for the cost of the drain cleaning, gave it to him, and asked for a written receipt. He said that one would be emailed to me. I still have not received one as of Sunday night. Since this experience I have researched my situation and found that I do not need a total repipe of my house to stop the leaking. I have isolated the leak and was able to stop it by turning off the hot water line valve going to my kitchen and garage, while not interrupting flow to the rest of my house. I'll need to replace lines to kitchen and garage from my hot water heater to fix my problem, but the cost will be a fraction of the $25,000 he quoted me. For the drain line, I am going to get a second opinion. New drains may be necessary long term, but no need to make a quick decision. What I learned in this encounter: 1. Don't trust good looking, smooth talking service techs who expect you to make a decision to spend $42,000 on the spot without first receiving a written quotation. My experience with Elite Rooter and Grayson was not good. After reading other reviews, I can see that other comments are similar to mine. read more
