Food- food was good Service- waaaay behind the curve as evidenced by the f-bombs coming from the kitchen area. We saw only one server who was literally running between tables, serving all areas. My brother and I were traveling through and stopped for lunch and were pleasantly welcomed with a full dining area, multiple age groups and lots of laughter and smiling faces. My 2nd time to the Wooden Nickel with my significant other. We went for the BINGO marathon and left mega thrilled with everyone we met, the delicious food i ate, the great drinks...the fun memories we made and my boyfriend left with $180 from the pull tabs. I'm originally from Texas and I travel regularly, so trying to find good food, especially in a small town, is very difficult to do. I had a black and blue bison burger with bacon and jalapenos. The patty was crisp on the edges, and cooked well in the middle, all without drying out the patty. That it's hard to pull if on such a lean meat as bison. The fries were really nice with a good crisp, but soft in the middle. From what I can tell, the fries are lightly battered. Overall, the food was fantastic and the service matched the food. Was somewhat of a disappointment here tonight. I ordered a Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, it looked quite unusual by its size and shape. Imagine my surprise when I cut into it and found a dry piece of fried chicken breast. The manager came to apologize when I told him I was looking forward to beef steak. He said it wasn't described that way on the menu but he would void it on our bill. Looked at the menu the description said steak, chicken fried. He asked if I'd like to order something else, but it took so long to get our order, the other guests would be finished by the time I had it replaced. I tried some of the Buffalo chicken flatbread from my wife's plate, but the chicken on it was also very dry and hard to eat. I went during the day like around 1pm so we didnt have to wait too long for our food.. the waiter was kinda displeasing she seemed like she hates her job and was not friendly jist tryjng to get her shift over with... but besides that we didnt have to wait long for anything we asked for.. what made this place so great was the food! Definitely a different style of food but in a good way. They had alot of opinions to choose from and a great famiy environment. Ashley provided phenomenal service for our huge group in the back room! She was also working the floor and the patio. She kept track of every order, even though they were coming in at sporadic intervals. She had an amazing demeanor, and made sure we were always taken care of. The food was delicious. Worst restaurant ever. Ordered a rare burger. Got a charred piece of something they claimed was beef. I asked how they were able to prepare it prior to ordering, I was told however you like. Inside was dated - patio would have been a better experience probably. Wait staff was nice and attentive. The food was the biggest draw back. The chicken wings looked as if they were made from pigeons. We were informed there was a chicken wing shortage - no change in the price though. The kids food was not on par with many of our other experiences for quality and amounts. We did enjoy teaching our kids how to play pool while we waited. My toddler's corn dogs came out frozen in the center and they still served them cold again when trying to reheat them. My peanut butter and bacon burger consisted of an ice cream scoop amount of peanut butter and my bacon was under cooked. The hamburger itself was a hockey puck - no juicy flavor.
