I headed straight for the tool section, where Jude helped me track down the exact drill bits I needed. Both Jude and Nathan were excellent--helpful, patient, and friendly. The product selection is solid, but what really stood out is the level of customer service. It's rare these days to find retail staff who go above and beyond, and these two certainly did (even humoring me as I reminisced about my own time working in retail). As a funny side note, I even got the chance to chase after a customer and his dog after he accidentally left a dog bone behind at the counter. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough to return it--maybe he'll return for his purchase! All in all, great selection, great service, and a team that makes shopping here a genuinely positive experience.

I am updating my review after bringing in an online return and there was a rather odd situation…read morethat came of it. Purchased a 5 gallon container of water seal online as they did not carry it in the store for some reason yet the ratings for it were superior. After starting to work on the fence replacing old boards that were totally shot I ended up deciding to replace the entire fence with pretreated boards hence not needing the 5 gal container I purchased. Evidently there was some fine print when ordering online saying it could not be returned which I was unaware of. After dealing with the manager Troy in here he allowed me to get a store credit for it which was cool and appreciated. We must have dealt with 5 different customer service people and they all were very helpful in the process of our return. To Troy and his staff, great job in customer service.

This store is a necessary evil…read more It is hard to find assistance in the first place and they all have attitudes. I needed the most popular Simpson H2.5 and it took 15 minutes and a lot of attitude by the associate that really didn't want to help to find the most popular product tucked away on a top shelf out of sight. Then the price was 30% more than the other big box and did n' have a barcode so another delay at checkout. They also had no stock of the expensive item I came for. Is this a fluke - no! Something like this happens to me every visit.

I'm guessing, they only do business with contractors now, because they don't answer phones, don't update the website, don't list any locations for customers... but somehow claim they are still open. I guess uncle Benny only cares about his political campaign now. What a shame, I used to wander the yard and leave with hundreds of dollars worth of stuff I didn't know I needed.

I went to explore the new Jax recently, to see if her quote held true. My first impression was that they really did a nice job with the conversion. The only trace of the building's past is the old floor tiles, but that is nitpicking. Everything else is fresh and new, if you didn't look down you would never know. I didn't see a firearms counter, so it is either well hidden or they haven't got one. The cafe area is not open yet, but looks really nice. And I have never seen such a variety of candy in my life (apart from that one time that reclusive candy maker hid a ticket inside my candy bar and I got to tour his factory, watch some weird musical numbers, and eventually took over the factory from him). I want to especially call out Ilyssa, who was the Department Manager for the Work and Western Wear area. The very moment I stepped into her domain, she was there to offer assistance. She immediately pointed out their special Labor Day sales, and darn it if I didn't leave her section feeling like I wanted some Work and/or Western Wear. All around a super fun place, so get there already! A supreme court justice can't be wrong! OK I made that quote up myself. But seriously, go to the new Jax.

That was at four weeks. I was told, they were sorry, but they were not ready, but would be ready, soon. Two weeks later I called again and was told, they were done. Why was there no call to let me know they were done? Upon getting the screens home and ready to install, I noticed that the spline had not been replaced. They reused the old, cracked, weathered spline while charging full price for screen replacement. Not to mention, the screen material was not tight all the way around. When I called to ask why the spline wasn't replaced, Scott told me that it was their opinion that the spline could be reused. I pointed out that there were sections of the screen that had no spline. Scott passed it off as no big deal, and they were doing me a favor reusing the old dilapidated spline. We will not be using this Ace again.
