The ease of drive through is a plus for me; and I always have a pleasant experience with the team there, they're all kind, efficient and friendly. Donuts are bigger than what you would get elsewhere (trust me, we've been almost everywhere at this point in the North and Central Spokane area). Retro has great quality, they're not overly greasy, they're generous in portion and the taste can't be beat. We usually order the maple bar, Boston cream and some variation of rings with sprinkles. BUT I will say my absolute favorite there is the strawberry. I like the consistency, I like the options; truly, no complaints. Thanks Retro, we're glad to have you in North Spokane!

Service was great, everybody was very kind and went above and beyond to help make my visit a good one. The donuts were very sweet and delicious! We absolutely love this place and believe they make the best donuts. We have been buying donuts…read morehere for many years and have always considered it something special. Over the past couple of years, though, we have noticed the level of service decline as the hours have expanded. While I appreciate the additional hours, I am not sure the staff feel the same way. I understand there will always be turnover and new employees, but it feels like some of what made this place special has been lost. Today we called ahead to place an order for a couple dozen donuts. We were on hold for about five minutes, and when placing the order, I had to repeat myself several times after almost every donut. We let them know we would be there in about two hours. When we arrived, the donuts had not been boxed yet. I mentioned that we had placed the order a couple of hours earlier and received a quick, somewhat snappy "OK" in response. It just didn't feel great. When we got home, we realized several of the donuts were not what we ordered. Nothing was mentioned when we picked them up about being out of anything. I assume some of the donuts we ordered may have sold out during those two hours, which is also why I wish the order had been boxed when we called. Had someone simply apologized and said, "We're sorry, we ran out of a few of the donuts you ordered," I would have been completely fine with it. I understand that people get busy and things happen. But you are never too busy to provide good service. We still love the donuts and want this place to be great. I just hope they can get back to the level of service that made us such loyal customers for so many years.

No other customers were there and the ambience was quiet. There were a variety of cookies to choose from that day and the employee helping described each one I asked about. I chose the Sticky Bear and the Sunshine Bear. My friend also got a Sticky Bear and a Fudgey Bear. Sticky Bear: A molasses cookie that was pretty good and soft. No crunch and more doughy-like, but didn't seem to be undercooked either. Sunshine Bear: A lemon frosted sweet dough cookie that was very sweet with subtle lemon, not tart lemon. No crunch and was doughy, slightly undercooked. Fudgey Bear: A gluten free flourless chocolate cookie with chocolate chips that made for a rich chocolatey cookie. It had way more crunch than the other two cookies I tried. Pretty decent for an alternative cookie. Some people like soft baked cookies, some people like cookies with more of a crunch--I don't discriminate and like all cookies and my preferred texture just depends on my mood. Based on the other reviews, I would say try this place if you like a softer cookie. As I was leaving I did notice store hours out front were blank. Maybe hours are changing for the summer?

I do extra-extra--it's the only way I'm guaranteed to get them thoroughly coated (you can always shake off what is excess). Powdered sugar ones are great, too, but when they are busy, you have to tell them to wait until the donuts are cooled before sugaring them, else the sugar saturates and cakes-up on the donuts--great with orange juice, by the way.
