This has been a nightmare dealing with this company. It started when I ordered a stove in Feb '22. I contacted them 3 times in April, June and August, each time, the production date moved back 2 or 3 months. You had to stop into their showroom because calls were never returned. They told me in late Sep. that it would not arrive until "maybe" early 2023 so I bought a different one ( Jotul Oslo F500 V3 ) that was in stock and cost $1300 more ( close to $6,000 installed ). After waiting until 1 PM for an installation that was scheduled for 9 AM and several unanswered phone calls to the showroom, a third party sub contractor arrived to do the installation. They had the wrong stove with them so we had to wait another hour until the correct stove arrived. It was brand new in a crate but defective from day one, with a door handle that was extremely hard to close. Also, a few weeks later, we noticed that the welds that hold the stove together were coming loose! They tried to fix the handle three times over a period of three months but were unsuccessful. Now with the added welding issue, they said that they won't take responsibility for correcting this and to contact the MFR! The parent company is in PA so we have filed a complaint with PA Consumer Affairs. read more

We have had them out several times to fix a problem with our pellet stove shutting down but they never fixed it. The last time the guy said he was sure he knew what was wrong but he didn't have the part on the truck. That was 6 months ago. They schedule an appointment and then cancel: my wife calls to confirm and they keep coming up with excuses. 6 Months and they still cant show up??? are you kidding me?? what kind of service is that?? NO SERVICE. If Wood Heat were the last place I earth I would be left to freeze. The last time my wife called she told the girl " its getting a little cold and we called back in March. The girl actually had the audacity to respond "yeah it is getting cold out isn't it" I finally called Quadra Fire and the guy was able to trouble shoot it over the phone in 3 minutes, told me the part number and told me some options to order online. ...It was a $25 part, arrived in 1 day and took me 10 minutes to change. I stopped in for a new door for my fireplace. I was told they would call me with more info. No call back. I followed up a week later. They told me to email them my problem and they would get right back to me. No call back, no email back. I checked in again about 2 weeks later, and about 2 weeks later. Over the course of 3 months, I called and emailed and stopped in at least 10 times. And not once did one person call or email me back. I was able to order my new door through my chimney sweeper. I bought a gas stove from them, and they did a nice job installing it. However, getting them to come out for a service call is like trying to arrange an audience with the Pope. They don't return phone calls or acknowledge the "schedule service request form" on their website. It took four months of asking for them to finally come out and do a simple maintenance cleaning, and they changed the date twice along the way. Was surprised to read these reviews, I just did a web search to get their phone number to arrange for the pick-up of a pellet stove I bought last Sunday. I originally went into the Flemington store two weeks ago to get a gasket for our woodstove and they provided all the materials and information I needed. I have had a similar experience to Daniel S. Multiple calls to Bob with absolutely no follow up. I paid for my fireplace up front. Nothing has been scheduled yet. I spoke to Bob on Friday and he was supposed to call me back to schedule the installer to come out. No call back. I sent him an email. Also no response. I left the owner a voice mail complaining. No call back. I am at the point of asking for a refund and will find another company to do this. The worst experience I could have had with a company... I called to order a fiberboard for my wood burning fireplace... I identified the model number... they ordered the part from the PA location... it was shipped to Flemington where I picked it up... 3 hours of driving, but that is on me... brought it home and immediately saw it was the wrong size... called back the same day, reported the problem and the saleswoman said she would order the correct part... SHE SUGGESTED that I return the wrong part I had once I got the new one.... I agreed, and after speaking to her we decided I should have ordered the insulation (another part that would go along with the fibreboard), which I did and paid for...PERFECT... after about 4 weeks of run around and no call backs and sheer nonsense, I got the manager of the Flemington store on the phone...he blamed me for not knowing the part number, claimed his staff person said I didn't know the model number, and if I wanted the replacement part I would have to return the old part first or pay for the replacement part ( even though it would be an exchange and the insulation was alreay paid for)...they accepted no responsibility for the screw up... basically blamed me for all of it...and the guy in Flemington was absolutely rude and condescending... his attitude was basically "what do you want from me..." I then called the PA location and went through the same story with the owner out there...bottom line, I had to pay for the replacement part.. and then I will get credit when I ship back the part they ordered wrong... which I am doing on my own dime... they never offered to pay for the shipping because they claim it was my fault..... Do not shop at Wood Heat Flemington! The service is deplorable and they take NO ownership for their product. I purchased a gas fireplace from Wood Heat Flemington. They wouldn't install it. I had to have the plumber do it. Then when I had problems with the unit I bought from Wood Heat they refused to speak with the dealer regarding the issue and gave me back the same unit telling me that it was in a sealed box and is therefore fine. I now continue to have issues with the unit and they still refuse to take ownership and/or deal with the dealer and tell me that they are not responsible for the unit. The box that operates the unit actually melted. Isn't it made for a fireplace? Why wouldn't it be designed to withstand heat and fire but now I have to pay another $500.00 for parts and labor to repair the unit which didn't work through the bulk of the winter because every time I call to tell the people at Wood Heat in Flemington that I have an issue I'm told to change the batteries and that they are too backed up to provide service. Now because I got upset while the service man was here and complained to him about the way I've been treated he threatened to take his tools and leave. These are expensive units and the service that is received is absolutely awful. What is the purpose of purchasing items through Wood Heat if they don't take take responsibility for anything they sell. I can't express my frustration and disappointment enough. Your comment on my review is a perfect example of the pitiful customer service offered by Wood Heat. Really - you are poking fun at the fact that you had to come out and "just change batteries"?!?!? I know how to change batteries, and did it multiple times - ALL THREE TYPES REQUIRED!! For years your service "professionals" neglected to share that the remote control has to be re-synced when you change the batteries. I found that out all by myself after searching online and troubleshooting. But of course if you told me that you wouldn't be able to charge a $198 service fee to make me feel like you have some kind of magical powers with batteries. And that doesn't change the fact that your Flemington store manager didn't call me back as he said he would, then promised to come out himself and then never called to say he was "on his way" as also promised because he had no intention of coming. Rude owner, badly managed business. I would give the place a negative star if Yelp allowed it. Why would anyone buy anything from this place? There is a sign on the door today that says 'PELLETS SOLD OUT'. He puts the sign on the door so he can't be bothered with people walking in and asking for pellets. I walk in and he gives me an 'I don't want to hear about it' look. I ask about when we might see some pellets and he gives a sour attitude and says sometime next month. No apologies, no 'we're doing everything we can' Does he suggest another place to buy pellets? No. No help. No nothing. Just the shortest answer possible like I am interrupting his day. And, there was not another customer in the store. They sell you a $3000 pellet stove and there are no pellets. They ran out last winter. Understandable as it was a cold winter. But to be out in November? Order some freaking pellets already. Plan ahead. It is your responsibility to your customers. So why buy a pellet stove and why support a miserable owner that hates his customers? I have been in retail all my life and this man knows nothing about customer service. He makes the big oil companies look like an attractive alternative. He should get into another line of work. Maybe a prison guard. This is a response from management about having 'NO PELLETS' " We try to keep wood pellets in stock for our customers, and we do our best to accurately estimate what we will need when we contract with the pellet mills in the spring, but sometimes demand outstrips supply. We notify our customers of our spring and summer pellet sale, which is always the best time to buy, and we have always been able to fill all orders during the sale. Please also bear in mind that many stove shops don't even sell pellets, and there are other stores in the area that carry pellets." So what he is saying is that having no pellets in November isn't their fault. It is the stupid customers fault for not buying pellet in July. I guess I was so busy in this summer buying rock salt and flannel shirts and snow shovels that I totally forgot to buy pellets. Oh and by the way, we should be so thankful that they even carry pellets at all. Listen, if you are going to do something do it right. If not, just get out of the business. Don't shift the blame to the customer. Why couldn't this be the owners response? "I am sorry but we screwed up and didn't order nearly enough pellets. We are working hard to get supplies. In the meantime you can go to X,Y,Z where they have quality pellets in stock. Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience and will be sure to order double next near." I'm in agreement with Todd K. although we followed through with install. Start to finish this process was a nightmare. Bob and Stacey are both very nice people but on a business standpoint unprofessional. My order started in late June and is finally complete late September. Should have been a simple install of a gas insert into existing fireplace. In hindsight I would never have given 100% of the payment up front (this is their policy to start work) and would have insisted they come to measure our space. I can't believe a company would trust a homeowners measurements! My husband and I are completely capable of measuring and gave all areas Bob asked for only to have an insert that did not fit. I work with the public (service industry) and was giving leeway to right the wrongs here..mistakes do happen. But every appointment (there were many) was forgotten about or incredibly late (averaged 5hrs late) and we never felt like a priority. Bob was always "too busy" with other people and setting up a fair to deal with us. Maybe business is understaffed...but paying 5,000 of my hard earned money and being treated like we were not important was awful, trying to patch in the mistake with random material (Bobs solution) was unacceptable and the additional waste of my time and money (missing work) waiting for appointments is just unforgivable. End of story we have what we want...it came at a much bigger price tag due to time wasted and aggravation. I'm very unhappy with Wood Heat. I will never recommend Wood Heat and will tell my story. Buy here if you want to wait forever for your job to be completed, never have an employee call you back and then get screwed out of money you paid which was never refunded when you don't receive what you purchased. I've used them a total of 3 times now, they first 2 were decent (they installed the freestanding Jotul stove too close to a sheetrocked wall which I the non professional had to point out to them), but this last time was the worst. Purchased a zero clearance wood burning fireplace in the summer, they quickly got the installers to demo and get the new fireplace in, then it sat. No brickwork, nothing, just the rough in. On our previous 2 purchases Bob was great, but it sounded like he may have had a health issue and was no longer working. That is when everything went to crap. On November 16th 2019 the contractors finally come (we were pushing for this to be done before hosting Thanksgiving) and the installer tells me they have had an issue with Wood Heat not paying them. I call Dave at WH (even though me, the customer should not be impacted by this) and inform him. He tells me I can either tell them to come back (after waiting over 3 months to get back here???) or pay them the $400 they are owed and WH would reimburse me. Well stupid me paid the $400 as I needed this done. I have yet to see that $400 back. So they start the install and then they inform me the ebony stained mantle I ordered is not finished. WTF? So I call Dave back and he said he will reorder the stained one. Since we were hosting the holiday dinner, he said to have the installer install the unfinished one and they'll swap it out after Thanksgiving. Just like my $400, I still haven't seen the finished mantle. The installer did a wonderful job and we love how it came out, but they couldn't finish the mortar work without the new mantle. We were also supposed to get a fireplace screen for the fireplace which I paid for, nothing. So the last step was brining in the hearth, a gray piece of limestone which the installer calls me outside for. It was cracked and has rust stains all over it. What next? I call WH and Dave tells me he'll call the supplier for another one. Just like my $400 and screen, never got a call back, delivery or anything. I am then told "you wanted natural stone, that is what you got". With a huge crack and rust stains all over it? Needless to say this was never resolved, and I nor anyone else I know will ever do business with them again. It is really sad because the purchasing of the fireplace went very smoothly and they made us feel very comfortable. Don't fall for it, buy elsewhere. read more

Interesting response Todd ... I wrote in private and suggested you call me but since I havent heard back. Point 1: Your contention that the fireplace was not purchased and installed by Wood Heat is an interesting one given I have all the permits that the prior owners gave me with Wood Heat stamped all over them. Please check your facts. Point 2: Your contention that the first two services were to fix the work of others, please see my response on Point 1. Furthermore, the contention that it took two trips and you only charged me for one is actually because the the second guy you sent said that the first two guys your company sent did it all wrong. Also to get the FACTS straight, your company tried to charge me for that visit which i flatly refused to pay based on what your tech said to me (kudos to him for actually saying he wouldnt feel right taking a payment and please check the email traffic i went back and forth with your people on this item after that service call took place). So you are aware of the real facts, almost immediatly after the first fix the glass was developing soot all over it and eventually developed the same problem which your second guy pointed out to me was the result of the material being placed over the burners which was incorrect. I dont believe i would know that fact if your guy hadnt told me. Point 3: Your contention that the third trip was ten months later is in fact correct however lets look at the months that were part of the 10 months -- spring and summer when the unit was not being used therefore no wear and tear but the first time i try to turn it on this season, nothing but the three beeps again. Interesting as well is that apparently the beeps that come from the system are a "code" which I learned from Bob. Point 4: Your contention that when the problem persisted i chose to leave a bad review is comical since i spoke to the woman in Quakertown and i said ok on the part (which the tech said shouldnt have to be replaced on his first visit) but then she said i have to pay a service fee again. Keep in mind, as mentioned, that was an awful customer experience talking to her. I then called the Flemington office and was told i would get a call back shortly and an entire WEEK goes by with nothing from your company. Is there any possible reason a customer-oriented company would not get back to a customer??? Should note that in todays world of the internet the customer actually has a voice thanks to platforms such as Yelp, which i will say i have never used before! Point 5: You chose to write a response to me on here that was factually incorrect instead of calling me and making things right. So you are aware of some additional facts, which you can plainly see i base things on, i told your people i wanted to convert to a wood burning insert and also wanted to add a pellet stove in my basement. Working with this company has been by far the worst customer service experience of my life. We started the buying process with them on October 24th. We gave them a 50% down payment for a gas insert - which was roughly $2,500. They said it would take 6 weeks for us to get a permit and then they could start the installation process. We called the township on November 18th to ask the status of our permit and they said they were waiting on Wood Heat to get back to them with additional information. We finally received our permit on December 30th - almost 10 weeks later. We called wood heat on the 30th to schedule our gas line installation - Stacy told us that she would see if they could come out on January 2nd. But if not, that we could get a Saturday installation since we didn't want to take off from work. We didn't receive a call back to tell us yes or no. We ended up calling them on January 2nd in the afternoon and they (Bob) said they "had a note to call us" but obviously never did. We asked to be scheduled for their first available Saturday installation and Bob said that they no longer do Saturday installations. We ended up scheduling a gas line and chimney liner installation for January 9th (Monday). My wife took the day off of work to be there because they said it would take all day. They arrived 3 hours late and were not able to do the liner installation because they didn't have enough time. At this point we were extremely upset with how things were going. We called Bob and expressed our disappointment at this whole scenario. We were already anticipating to take time off of work to be available for the township inspector to look at the gas line and insert but because the insert was not installed we now have to take additional days for both the installation and the inspection of the liner. Bob said he would try to get us a Saturday appointment - we haven't heard back - that was 3 days ago. I called again on January 10th (Tuesday) to see the status and schedule the installation. Stacy said she would call me back later that day - she didn't. They are closed Wednesdays. I called them again today (Thursday) and they didn't pick up the phone. I left a rather unpleasant voicemail for them voicing my displeasure (no cursing or anything, but my voice was definitely elevated). Also, when the township inspector came to our house he noted that the permit was applied for 50ft of gas line but we had close to 90ft of gas line. A wood heat representative came to our house shortly after our deposit was made to measure our gas line and he noted it was 90ft. We had estimated 50ft when we got the quote. The quote was never updated and the permit was applied for 50ft. The inspector has yet to give us approval because it is possible that the line is too long to have the correct gas pressure to operate the insert. We did call wood heat voicing some concern after the measurement for the line was twice as long as expected and they said it would not be a problem, that if we needed the gas company to give us more pressure they could do so. The township inspector said that it is entirely possible to do that, but it will likely cost an arm and a leg. That is something Wood Heat DID NOT mention to us. When we first went to Wood Heat we were impressed by their knowledge and attentiveness. Now it seems that the attentiveness was just to make a sale and we were told whatever we wanted to hear. As of right now we are completely stuck as to what to do. We want our insert installed but we also want to say forget it and get our money back. I would absolutely not recommend this company. Generally a good store depending on who you deal with. Store doesn't seem to take seriously that you need pellets to operate a pellet stove. . . Purchased a pellet stove in fall 2013. Took some time to figure out exactly what would work for me but main owner/managers were helpful and responsive to questions. Installation was reasonably straight forward and after purchase the store followed up with questions and was generally helpful (always a good thing after they get your $$). Very happy with the stove and generally happy with the store. If I was to do it again I would go to the same place. Drawback is that the store doesn't seem to take seriously that you need to have pellets to operate a pellet stove. One of the employees is unhelpful and rude. Be careful if you buy a stove as pellets are already backordered for the 2014/2015 winter. read more

I decided to replace a wood burning fireplace with a new Heat & Glo gas fireplace. After agreeing on a price, the installers arrived and had to tear down the existing marble tile surround to get the wood burner out and the gas unit in. It was then that I realized that replacing the tile surround was not part of the job. The head installer however told me that he could do tile work and would return at a later date to install a new tile surround. I was left that day with a working gas fireplace surrounded by wood framing and insulation. That was well over 2 months ago. Finally, I got tired of waiting and decided to install the tile surround myself. A word of caution to all prospective customers. Make sure you fully understand what is and isn't included with your installation, and get a firm commitment as to when what isn't included will be taken care of. I wish I had not been so generous in tipping the installers on the initial delivery date. My mistake. read more

Rude, Unhelpful salesman who made our experience incredibly trying. One word answers, walking off without a word followed by a snort when I tried to ask more questions. Never had anyone work so hard to lose my business. We first arrived 15 minutes before closing time. I've worked retail in my life, I understand that folks showing up right at the end can be frustrating but what I found was not only a locked front door but a gentleman(wrong word) sitting behind his little counter staring at me. I knocked and said I just needed to show my wife the model I was considering and he just held up one finger. We stood in the parking lot for several minutes while he did who knows what. Then unlocked the door and wordlessly pointed into the pellet stove room. He simply COULDN"T BE BOTHERED to do his job. If there was another business who carried what I wanted I would have given them my money but I wasn't about to give it to that guy. We left and decided to try out their Quakertown location. Night and day difference. They actually tried to help us and answer questions! Since that point I have called the flemington store to check to see if they have pellets and he is still there. He answers the phone, I ask if they have them, he says no followed by silence. I say Ok, when do... he cuts me off and says a while. I just hang up at that point. I've spent my life in one form of customer service or another and I cannot believe anyone with any sense has allowed this to continue. read more

Just got out of this place in Flemington, NJ. Woman at counter was condescending and short despite me being polite the whole 10 minutes that I was in the store. The man behind her remained silent for half the time, but refused to help me just the same. I went into this store after failing to find what I wanted at Home Depot. As soon as I mentioned that, I got a lecture about how the stuff they sell is inferior, how the things that Wood Heat sells are incompatible (never mind that Wood Heat sells adapters). I wanted to examine it for myself and they argued with me insistently how it won't work. May I be the judge of that? Spent thousands of dollars on a gas insert, dealt with people who knew NOTHING and couldn't be bothered to respond to the most simple question. Finally got the insert installed and it was installed wrong, had to have service done twice after installation to correct problems. Getting the service done and scheduled was awful too. Now it's years later and during high winds I can't use my insert because it blows out the fire! I thought it was just because of our long chimney or where our home is located, etc...so I called ANOTHER company to find out the wrong chimney cap was installed, so now I have the correct cap which not only prevents my gas fireplace from blowing out (which is dangerous!) I can now use the fireplace during power outages which is the whole reason I wanted one installed in the first place. DON'T deal with Wood Heat in Flemington!! The entire process was horrible from beginning to end and I'm still playing the price for using them years later. read more
