I never want to dislike a restaurant, but with Wong Wok it's just so very easy. The crab rangoon are not good. They have a burnt taste and, maybe I'm in the minority that prefer crab rangoon to have a sweet note, but I found these to be on the bitter side. The chicken fingers, same burnt taste, and over cooked in general. The breading crumbled as I bit into it because it was so over cooked. Their lo mein noodles are terrible, and very salty. Finally, the general tso's was good, although I'm convince I got tangerine chicken. Whatever it was, that was actually good. I don't think I'll go back. read more

Very Americanized food, but excellent value- the portions are huge! This restaurant mostly does take-out business, I've never actually eaten at the restaurant. The lady at the front desk is brusque but efficient, food is ready in no time. I recommend the curry noodles, and anything typical of Americanized Cantonese food... I have been a fan of Wong Woks food for years. It is always very tasty Americanized Chinese food with great prices and large portions. Tonight I was disappointed by two things: cleanliness and the bill. The dining room really needs to be cleaned (railings & walls are quite dingy now). And the waitress tried to slip a tip in on my bill without me noticing in hopes that I would tip again in top of it. Then lied about it. The food at the Sumner Ave location has gone down hill. Rumer had it that the cook went to the Berkshire Ave location. I decided to try that location. Sure enough the food was really good. This is the best take-out Chinese place that I've found in my 4 years in Springfield. I've never dined in the restaurant, and echo the sentiments I've read in other reviews about allowing extra time to pick-up your order during busy periods. Went there the other day for some lunch to go, ordered chicken fingers, and there Szechuan pork and cabbage soup, picked the food up and brought it home, the chicken fingers were ice cold, and hard as rocks, they had to be old, or pre-cooked, I couldn't even eat them, now the soup, it was hot, but the vegetables, were raw and to hard to eat, its like they threw the vegetables in the broth without cooking them, do yourself a favor and skip this place, there are plenty of better Chinese restaurants around, 2 stars is being generous. read more

I called to order chicken lo main a small ate for $5.50 to be delivered and was given a different number, I reached a different company that was delivering for them and was told they had an $8 minimum so I added an egg roll for $2.50. after that I was told the total which was $15.50 because deliver was $3.50 plus $1 card charge plus tip and tax. I grew up eating Wong Wok, it was always delicious but it's very very heavy and greasy., more so than other Chinese food I have had. Which if that is what you are looking for, because sometimes you want that greasy yummy deliciousness, than you come to the right place. We ordered a variety of items off the menu, from dumplings to chicken fingers to dinner combos. 5 people all said, "Never again. Horrible quality for the money." Dinner Combos: #7 Fried Shrimp, Boneless Spare Ribs, Eggroll, Chicken Wings, Rice - came with 2 shrimp, a very small BSR, a very greasy eggroll, wings and a TON of rice. #9 Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Fingers, Pork Fried Rice - The beef was undercooked in the middle and crispy on the edges. The chicken fingers were mostly breading and very greasy, again a TON of rice. #11 Beef with Broccoli, chicken wings, pork fried rice - Not brown gravy broccoli beef, it was a red color and had a hint of sweet and sour. Chicken wings, and a TON of rice. #15 General Chings Chicken, Chicken Wings, Pork Fried Rice - The general chings wasn't spicy at all, it was very sweet. Tasted more like orange chicken than anything else. chicken wings, TON of rice. The steamed dumplings were ok, it's the only thing that most of it got eaten. The crab rangoon tasted like cream cheese, no crab flavor. We also ordered a half side of chicken fingers for our son that we didn't receive. Smelled like bleach when you first walk it. Ordered a #16 chicken with broccoli, chicken fingers and pork fried rice. Rice was edible but the chicken with broccoli tastes like cough syrup. Ick. The chicken fingers were dry and the breading was too sweet. Not eating here again. read more

I've been a fan of Wong Wok since it opened. Anyone remember the sign slipup outside when it first opened? They had it say WONG KOK instead of Wong Wok? Always will be a part of my funny memories. :) I think this is a great Chinese food place, and it is my favorite in the area. Years ago it would have been Joy of the Wok (Boston Rd.). Ginger Blossom is a close second to Wong Wok now. I second what one person wrote about the tall, dark haired woman who works the front desk. She's been there since the beginning and is always a little rude and her attitude is off. Makes me wonder, does she own this place? She's always there and despite people voicing their complaints (here), she's still there. Anyway, you get big portions, love their pork fried rice! Whenever I go it's rarely busy, and there's always one person working the floor, busy or not. Two if it's REALLY busy. I'm a fan of this place, though, for sure. read more

I have eaten here countless times over the years and I used to love their food. But I can't say that anymore especially not recently. I ordered there just last night through delivery express and I was so disappointed eating my food. I ordered the pu pu platter with chicken fingers, veggie lo mein, crab Rangoon and extra duck sauce. My veggie lo mein had no veggies in it. A few pieces of broccoli and what looked like the skin of a green onion. Seriously? My crab Rangoon had no crab. It was literally fried cream cheese. And this is how it is all the time, not even bother to put at least imitation crab meat in there. On top of that it's so bland. There's absolutely no seasoning apart from the taste of it being fried in oil. The chicken wings were okay but tough to bite into. My beef teriyaki was burned on the edges, but luckily I happen to like mine that way. The chicken fingers were pathetic. It was a half inch in diameter strip of chicken surrounded by another half inch thick shell of breading. Again, bland. The egg roll was fried cabbage and it was bland and overcooked. I'm so disappointed and upset I spent money on this place. The only reason I give this place two stars is because they are awesome with the duck sauce. They give you tons! read more

I used to go there with my mother years ago but went recently and was not impressed. They let the place go. It looked a bit run down but I gave it a shot because their food has always been great. I ordered the PU PU PLATTER for 2. They apparently stopped giving you a whole piece of shrimp. They now give half of it wrapped in egg roll wrap. They used to give you jumbo shrimp breaded and deep fried. It also used to be deveined but apparently they stopped doing that too. The meat was clearly reheated. The spare ribs were so hard that I kids wouldn't even touch them which is unusual since they eat everything.I decided it was time to go and There was a ton of food left over so we decide to take it to go being that I paid for it. Imagine my surprise when my eldest daughter later on in the evening wanted some of the rice left over and we find that we only had a tiny box. Where the hell did our food go that they were suppose to box up.?!!! I paid for that food so when I take it to go, I should trust that I would get all of it! I had so much rice left over so if you still wanna eat here then remember if you ask for the food to go. open the bag right then and there and stay away from the shrimp and ribs. read more

I love this place. For some reason we always get takeout, we do dine in but not too often. Wait staff is very nice.

So I went to check out Wong Wok because there were so many great reviews on here. General's Chicken is my FAVORITE so I was excited to try 'the best in the valley'. Not only is this chicken not spicy at all, I think they might have actually given me sesame chicken. Kind of a bummer. I also got a large order of Chicken Lo Mein. The noodles are dry and they are VERY garlic-y. I paid about $20 bucks for a large order of each. The portion sizes are big...that's for sure. The chicken is great quality... really big chunks of white meat chicken. Definitely the best quality chicken for the 'general chings', but like i said, no spice to it at all. It's sweet. Probably wouldn't drive all the way back there, but i'm glad I took a ride to try it out. read more
