I've been doing my weekly laundry at this place since before Covid. Today I washed and dried an Eddie Bauer brand comforter that I've washed at this location many times before and the dryer ruined the comforter. I took photos of it. When I opened the dryer, it was hot and it hurt my hand to touch the clothes inside. The blanket was fried it was like it had become a different kind of stiff material. I got that blanket on craigslist free. I recently moved out of a city shelter, during which time I lost all of my possessions, and into an apartment. That blanket was one of the nicest things I have. When I complained to the attendant, she said it was because of the material of the comforter. I asked her to touch the other clothes that were in the dryer to feel how hot they were. She repeated the statement above again. Then she said "no one else has complained" something she told me a few months ago when I reported that the hot temperature on a particular washing machine wasn't working. There was no gesture of a refund for the wash and dry I PAID for to RUIN my blanket. I asked to talk to the manager and she said she would be there after seven. I won't ever go back to this place, and while it is very clean inside, it's unlikely they will help you if you have any kind of problem with their facility.
And now that I'm starting to fold the clothes that were in with the blanket, I notice that the dryer also ruined a sweater. It's a grey sweater that I've washed before there and the edges of it are brown and look burnt. So there goes one of my like three sweaters that I own and can't afford to replace.
And, now I see, it also ruined a small dog bed. So that's three things that it ruined that I can't afford to replace. I just went back to the laundromat with the other items, to ask to talk to the manager because I want a refund. The attendant said she would have the manager call me. After that, she pointed me to one of those signs that says "We are not responsible for items in the self-serve machines." I said, you are responsible if there is something wrong with the temperature of the machine that it is burning my things.
And it ruined a pair of Uniqlo work out pants. Like I said, I recently went through the shelter system, and during that time I lost almost all my possessions. I have four pairs of pants, less than ten tee shirts, three sweaters, etc. I have very few items of clothing. This is really really upsetting. I can't afford to replace this stuff. I'm really sad and angry this happened. read more
