Recently, Wonder (Kind of food hall-style concept) -- opened an outlet in Parsippany. They market themselves as offering a unique "fast fine" dining experience, where you can order from a variety of acclaimed chefs and restaurants in a single transaction. It's actually more of a meal-delivery app that serves made-to-order dishes for lunch, dinner, or whenever you're hungry. somehow i was under impression that - as it says that it has food hall concept, it would have seating like the ones you see in malls or upscale shopping centers. I even saw this building while driving to work -- it's decent in size, so my assumption felt justified. But when I visited yesterday, I realized how wrong I was. The space has just 2-3 tables and can accommodate maybe 10-12 people at most and large kitchen area preparing those dishes from 25 restaurants. Definitely not designed for dine-in -- the focus is clearly on delivery and pickup. You can order from kiosks, and they offer menus from over 25 different restaurants, including some really well-known names. Here's what we ordered: * Tortiglioni Pomodoro from Alazna (a pasta dish) * Fried Chicken Sandwich & Fries from Streetbird * Zesty Chicken Bowl from Yasas by Michael Symon The burger and pasta were both really good, but the chicken bowl- was served cold -- I had expected something warm, like Chipotle-style, so that was a bit disappointing. Overall, the concept is great, but now that I know the wonder is not designed for 'relax- sit and eat', I'd definitely stick to delivery or pickup in the future. read more

We recently gave Wonder a try, purely out of curiosity. In a nutshell shell... It's a gimmick. The concept that you are ordering from multiple establishments is a ruse. It's just the packaging. We ordered a soggy quesadilla, a wet Mediterranean bowl and an airline quality poke bowl. Nothing really tasted freshly made. Kind of like a frozen dinner. The items that should have been fresh and crisp were warm and soft. The items that should have been hot were barely warm. The flavors were bland and generic overall. That old saying "Jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind. The food is mediocre at best. The low end of mediocre at that. And low end mediocre gimmicks won't cut it over the long haul. Particularly here in Northern NJ where excellent food abounds. If you're not sure what you want to eat, just go to a diner. One and done for us. read more

I wanted to give this eatery a try because its raison d'être seemed new to me. It surprised me when I walked in. The dining room was quite small and every seat was filled by a large and boisterous family group ... clearly enjoying their food. I asked the counter man to explain what's what. He explained that they have the ability to serve dishes from some of the most famous chefs in America. He pointed to a wall of glossy menus and after a few minutes picking out a couple to try, I realized that this isn't like any restaurant I had ever been in. The menus had no prices, hmm. You pick the cuisine menu, and then go to the kiosk and when you order you see prices. I went for a brisket sandwich and corn bread. It was a bit pricy for take out ( the room was too small, too crowded, and too cold) but I wanted to try their food so my to-go order went home with me. My verdict, it was a decent brisket sandwich ... tender, good sized portion and it came with a fresh tasting bun. The raw onion was over done ... too many. I pulled out more than half. It needed more sauce but east to fix next time. The corn bread was expensive but nicely done. Make sure to use the slab of butter nesting inside the box. I spoke to another worker, he was manager of a Wonder off Rt 10 by CCM. He said their restaurant is larger so eat-in is possible. I give my first meal 3 stars. Lots of possibilities yet to try. Based on this experience, I might try the eat-in place. If you go, be sure to go through all of the menus. Find the cuisine and see if you can find something interesting. Interesting concept. When we arrived to Wonder, we thought perhaps it would have stalls to order from, but instead it is a very large kitchen that can handle multiple restaurant menus, with a small seating area in front. The place focuses more on ordering for pickup, but that doesn't seem to be a issue. The food was all packaged with care, clearly marked with what is inside and which restaurant it is from. The seating area is cute and clean. The spiced chicken tenders from streetbord are yummy, try the maple chili sauce. The banana pudding with wafer cookie bits is AMAZING (tho 100g of carbs for your diabetic girly here for the whole thing means I got a singular bite lol). The remoulade with the onion rings from Mainstay was super yum. I am not local but if I was, I would keep coming back to try more. I love the idea of different food options, so keep that up. I must admit I was quite excited to have all this yummy food, but this place is disgusting. The presentation, the photos, the app. The advertisement was amazing. Even the packaging was amazing arriving in the store, the building and the logo was amazing. But once you walk in the door, you know something is wrong, you just can't quite put it. Taking a look at the kitchen. It looks like one gigantic cafeteria, where they just heat up their food. They don't actually make anything here. They just heat it up and believe me, the food you get does not look the the photos advertised. I ordered a pizza which had some drizzle of tomato sauce on top and some nut and some uncooked bacon on it. You could get better pizza at Domino's for 9.99 The second item I ordered was a chicken sandwich which was praise almost at 5.0 same with the pizza. You could get a way better chicken sandwich which cost much less right across the street which has a Chick-fil-A. The third and last item I got was some ribs, I must admit the ribs did look pretty good but then white bite into it. It taste rubbery like it wasn't real ribs. I know it was real ribs, but it's like the ribs that you get at the supermarket like Kingsford would I be back again. No way save your money and don't pay full price for this stuff.
