My German is actually not bad at all, which came in handy tonight because our waitress claimed to speak no English. When all of our beer, wine and food was done we waited 30 minutes as she obviously ignored us before finally getting her attention and asking for our bill. Then after another 15 minutes waiting for the bill as she did everything else she could think of I finally had to get up and track her down clearing a table and embarrassingly ask her if we could please have our bill and pay for it. Everyone in the restaurant looked at me like I was crazy, but I'm sure they would have done what I did if they had sat with no food or drink for 45 minutes. Sadly this experience really ruined my true love for Bavaria. We are not loud Americans, we travel often, and rarely are juged like we were tonight.

Der Empfang war schon sehr herzlich von einer netten Dame, die sich später als Wirtin zu erkennen gab, die Einrichtung sehr gemütlich, und es sah aus, als würde dieses Lokal schon lange bestehen. Uns wurde ein Tisch zugeteiltund die Karte gereicht, sogar aus Holz, nicht das übliche Plastik. Wir entschieden uns für die Käsesuppe und die Meerrettichsuppe als Vorspeise, beide sehr gut, ohne lange Wartezeit, danach für meine Frau den Steckel-Wickel und für mich den Schlittenschmaus, man muss sagen einfach toll, das Ganze, aber der Schlittenschmaus war für mich nicht zu schaffen, lag wohl an der Suppe, die Nachfrage nach einem Dessert mussten wir beide verneinen.
