YUM! We dropped in for dinner last week. The patio was full so we settled on a table inside. Realizing our desire to dine al fresco, our server offered to relocate us the moment a table opened up outside. The place is quaint and just outside the main drag. Every single thing we ate was scrumptious and the service very friendly. The portions were good and the flavors were top-notch...so we kept on piling it in until nothing else would fit! This is my choice for Italian food in the G-P area! Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. I have never had an issue getting in as a single diner, but I have been told groups should try to make a reservation. The space is smaller, so I would agree that this would be a good practice based on its popularity within the area. Parking close to the restaurant is street parking in smaller European roads, so just be aware of that and give yourself enough time to find parking near the restaurant or give yourself enough time to walk over from your hotel or one of the local parking garages. read more

What a Gem. My wife and I had two dinners here back to back. The first night we shared a Hawaii Pizza. It was cooked perfectly. The second night we indulged in pasta. What a great find on our way home... we were looking on yelp for an Italian. And this one didn't disappoint. It is so cozy and authentic, the waitress was alone and still she was so attentive and looking after us although there were may customers for dinner. Every single dish was amazing but it has to be said that the Tuscan onion soup is easily the best thing I've ever had ... just wow!! Pizzas are also very tasty and the spaghetti Bolognese were so good. A lot of red wine was had too. We'll be back read more

The onion soup was really awesome. Not like French onion, a bit of tomato in an onion soup with a pizza dough topping thrown in the pizza oven. So tasty. We had pizza and pasta afterwards and are going to explode happy. read more

Stopped by on an early Friday evening and got a table outside for two (first time to the restaurant). My wife ordered the Aglio e Olio and I the Calabrese. Well both dishes were really good - description said spicy and both were spicy and very flavorful. The Aglio e Olio was a basic 4 ingredient spaghetti recipe but simplicity created strong flavors. Dessert was the homemade Tiramisù, a different take than what I have had before but rather good as well. Good enough to return. Seems like it might fill up quickly, so if a bigger party, reservations might be in order. read more

Absolutely great food great atmosphere and great service. Prices reasonable. I got the scapollini Alla toscana which was a perfect blend of sauce and tender young calf with spinach and mozzarella. The side was sautéed veges that seemed to be from a can save the carrots. My boys got pizza and tortellini with Gorgonzola. All good. With wine and good company I would be happy to come back. Got a last minute reservation for 7 people so we were already stoked to go to this place. Best service and the food was amazing. There's a pretty lengthy menu so you're for sure going to find something you like. I had the penne calabrese and the mozzarella caprese. Pasta was just the right amount of spicy and the salad was so flavorful. Wine is amaze. Food is even better. Service is absolutely fantastic. We read the reviews and were worried about the saltiness as observed by a few of the people on the site. I can unequivocally say that this is one of the best Italian restaurants I have eaten at in a while. The staff were awesome, fast and courteous and always had a smile. The food is top notch, fresh and perfectly al dente. The salads were delicious and fresh. Not a single item we tried was salty (I chock the reviews up to most likely a one-off scenario). I read the great reviews and La Toscana looked like an excellent place for a quiet Sunday dinner before the 4th of July fireworks at the Edelweiss Lodge. Sadly, it turned out not to be great. If anything, I would sum it up as 'salty.' The restaurant is nice, clean, and our waitress friendly and efficient. I ordered the "famous" onion soup. It was definitely unique, a tomato-based onion soup in a large bowl draped with a pizza dough tortilla, with melted cheese in the center. The dough tasted wonderful, the cheese fine, but the soup was overpowered with salt. I only ate half, which is unusual. For my main course I had the homemade cheese ravioli, which was beautiful on the plate. Unfortunately, it had four flavors: pasta, cheese, oil, and salt. It was not good, and once again, I could only eat half. My wife ordered a pasta special with veal, also overloaded with salt. All in all we anticipated a terrific meal at a nice place, instead we had three-course salt dinner. Now I've got nothing against salt, but not in the quantities La Toscana serves. Food is excellent and authentic Italian. Family owned and managed by an Italian family. The restaurant is small but the food is excellent. I had the salad, the pizza and pasta with meat sauce. I have been coming to La Toscana for over 15 years from Carmel CA. Miena, Turkay and Ischi have a wonderful romantic and authentic Northern Italian gem here in Garmisch. It is probably my favorite place to dine in Europe. The cuisine is always fresh, interesting and tasty. Soups, the special onion soup, salads, pizza when you want the best and even fish dishes keep me coming back. Their hospitality is unsurpassed in an otherwise very touristy town. read more

Our family of 7 went to La Toscona last night and I know this is the best food I've had in Germany. The kind hostess/owner sat us without a reservation although I highly recommend having one. We arrived at 8:15 and the very small intimate resturant was full except for one table who she was holding for a party of 8 that never arrived. They missed a fabulous meal. I had the arugula salad which was big with a lot of Parmesan cheese. Delicious. Also had the pizza bread. It was perfectly so tasty even though my husband is vegan. (No cheese). Everything bee order was ample portions and perfectly prepared. The fish special was a whole fish prepared to perfection with a yummy seasoning. Also don't miss the tiramisu.
