The ambience is a five star rating The service is a star because 1. The waiter from Romania was quite rude and 2. He argued with me when I said that the "roast beef" on the menu was just a hard steak and I wanted a soft roast beef as it was mentioned on the menu. So when I said that he went off on me saying that "yes, it is a steak indeed but locally it is called a roast beef." My point is that the waiter should have explained that the "roast beef" on the menu is just a steak and not a roast beef when I was ordering. Instead I got yelled at... The whole fried fish was alright. The duck was also alright. Their beef broth soup with dumplings was amazing, the cheese dumplings are not cheese dumplings but meatballs with some cheese inside. I wasn't told it as well but I was pleasantly surprised. Their flat cheese pancakes were delicious too. We spent over 200 Euros for four people. I cannot say we enjoyed the experience... I'm pretty surprised at the 5 stars. That was not my experience. The waitress was nice and attentive. This is why I didn't get it a 3. My salmon was good but the noodles lacked any flavor. My moms "Mac-n-cheese" was great. Get that. My husband had the meat plate and enjoyed it. Best Restaurant in all of Germany? The inside is warm and beautiful ambiance. Real local Germans were dining all around us. We had the most charming and adorable waitress of our entire 2 week trip. And the food was wonderful as well. €5 Sausage soup...interesting, and good. €5 Garden salad...finally a REAL healthy fresh salad! Rare find! €16 Taste of Bavaria...order this if you are really hungry. It comes with 4-5 different tasty proteins with sausages and cuts of pork and beef. €20 Grilled trout fillet...simple but delicious. €7-8 One liter beers on draft! Other American Yelpers complained about slow service, but we didn't notice. This isn't TGI Fridays or McDonalds, its a real restaurant that makes great food with care, and you're in Europe where to dinner is a big event to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace...I hope to eat here again someday! read more

I loved our dinner here, from start to finish it was grand. The only downside is that we were seated inside on a hot day with no air conditioning and it was sweltering. Not their fault as we should have just sat outside, which we had a choice of. My mother loved her trout, she was raving about it for days and claimed it was one of the best trout dishes she has ever had. The skin was crispy and the fish was cooked to perfection. I had the duck which was also cooked with skill, the orange sauce was on the thin side but very tasty. Both dishes came with an amazing potato gratin and plentiful well cooked veggies. The price is very fair, and this place was one of our favorite restaurants we ate at during our 4 city Germany trip. The service is also top notch and the waitress was lovely. read more

Another amazing dinner on our tour of Austria and Germany. I actually found this restaurant on Yelp and bookmarked it a month before our trip. As we walked the area near our hotel, I felt it was close and we found it. We had not made an advance reservation but stuck our head in the door about 3pm. They had open tables available but had to book us indoors. We requested outside and they promised to do their best if available. We got lucky again! There was an outdoor table waiting for us. Ote server was the same guy we spoke to in the afternoon and it turns out he had a great sense of humor... let the games begin. He made us aware of a special and left us to check out the menu and get out drinks. As we ordered, I asked about the fish that sounded good but had the head... Not me. He suggested another fish item not on the menu or a special. It sounded good so let's try. He did not steer me wrong. It was great. During our meal, we watched him run. The restaurant was extremely busy and actually turned people away. We were never rushed and spent 2 1/2 hours at the table. After we enjoyed our wonderful meals, it was time to think about dessert. We each found something that sounded good but definitely didn't agree. Time for 2 desserts. I selected what they showed as our lava cake but what arrived was more of a hot, freshly made souffle. So glad I checked Yelp before going out to eat in Füssen on our last night. You DEFINITELY NEED TO CALL AHEAD AND MAKE A RESERVATION. We called about 30 min ahead and got a table. We chose this place for a quick meal after visiting the nearby castles before heading back to Munich by train based on the mostly high ratings on Yelp. Having dined here I am rather confused as to why some reviewers described this place as serving the best food in Fussen & the best German food they have ever eaten?! The food is average and pricing higher than some other nearby restaurants we checked but the menu has more variety. We dined outside in the pedestrian street and only had time for 1 main course each. I ordered the roasted Bavarian duck breast with seasonal vegetables & potato gratin, the duck was overcooked and lacked flavour; at almost €20 this was a very disappointing dish. My dining companion chose the 'Bavarian specialties pan' which consisted of a variety of meat and sausages with potato. This was a better choice however again the pork was tough and overcooked. My main criticism of this restaurant is the slow and inattentive service. After finding seating outside the restaurant we waited 15 minutes to be given menus this was having requested 3 times for menus, twice to a male server and once to the female server. It seemed as if only the female member of staff was working taking orders, serving the food & bringing the bill; the male server's response was 'I will ask my colleague' to every minor request we made. He mostly spent his time chatting to 1 table of diners and brought menus to another table who arrived after us. In anticipation of the slow service we asked for the bill before we had finished our meal. Once we were ready to pay we asked for the card machine to be brought outside. Again we waited and waited, after 10 minutes of waiting, I walked inside the restaurant to make payment as we had a train to catch! After processing the payment approved by chip & PIN, the server made a very odd request asking for a signature on the back of the credit card receipt saying that 'the boss needs it.' Why is a signature required on the back of the credit card receipt at the bottom of a long statement written only in German when the transaction has already been approved and processed by chip & PIN?! So in summary dine at this place if you have a lot of time to spare as the place is understaffed and if you don't mind waiting for mediocre food. read more

My fiancée and I loved this place. We are from the US and were vacationing in the area for Christmas. This was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas Day so we got there right as they opened. Because of that, they were able to seat us at a little table without a reservation. We tried two of their meals (pictured because I forgot what they were called.) we didn't speak German but the staff spoke English and were very accommodating. My fiancée and I came here on Christmas Day, with no reservation as they opened for the night. They were more than happy to squeeze us in, letting us know we might need to eat quickly (90 minutes), which we completely understood. It was plenty of time, and we even got dessert! Thanks for the Yelps, we had one shot at a good restaurant experience in Fussen, thanks to previous yelps and ratings we made our way to Madame Plusch. First, let me say the service here is fantastic. We were helped by 3 very cordial young locals who enjoyed their job and made our time there memorable. Our waiter spoke fairly good English!, this helped. My wife and I both had one of the seasonal specials, White Asparagus with Hollandais sauce, potatoes and ham. This was not the first time we've tried this dish but this was the best. The servings are perfect, the food is outstanding. Best meal we've had in Germany. We both ordered desert, with coffee. The cafe latte was great, my coffee was very strong just as desired. I ordered the apple strudel which is served with vanilla sauce; this was a great way to end a meal. This desert is high on my list of all time favorites now!. The chocolate mousse was a special desert, it was very light and presented very nicely. If you are in town, I recommend this restaurant. We sat inside and enjoyed the nice interior. We ate early enough not to need a reservation, but they were turning people away at the door at 7:30 who didn't have a reservation. So, better late than never. I definitely had a hard time in Germany finding things to eat that I liked but I didn't have a hard time with this gem. Thank you Yelp for guiding me in the right direction. This was by far the best meal I had while in Germany. The best Mac and Cheese ever. They call it something different but it's basically Mac and Cheese on steroids. I scoured Germany after eating there to find an equivalent but came up empty handed. Their dumpling soup was some of the best soup I have ever had as well. I topped it off with some stuffed chicken and bam, I left satisfied. If I didn't live on the other side of the world, I would come here at least a couple times a month. Keep doing what you're doing because it's definitely working. read more

On an early August evening the weather was cool and the reservations made earlier in the day paid off. We requested a sidewalk table for 7pm and they had it waiting. Many others passed by and could not be seated leaving to continue their search for a restaurant with outdoor seating. Even though we ate outside, we did briefly peek inside...5 years old but quite a collection of Bavarian trinkets and pictures inside, furnishings and decor too... I ordered the roasted Bavarian duck breast with orange sauce, fresh seasonal vegatables, served with Grandmother's potatoes au gratin. Simply outstanding!!!! The duck breast was perfectly cooked and the skin was crispy. The potatoes were excellent along with the veggies. The service was a little slow but there was no rush to turn our table. My dessert was a Madam Plusch original creation.... Homemade cottage cheese doughnuts served with hot rasberries and vanilla ice cream. WOW! read more

We are traveling in Europe for 2 months and happened to be in Fussen for my wife's birthday. I made arrangements for dinner for 4 as a surprise to her and they delivered beyond my expectations. The put us in a private room upstairs, scatt!ered sulk roses on the table and set up a candlelight dinner. The menu is comprehensive and we're ordered the veal special. My wife's arrived with a Roman candle blazing on the plate! Food was delicious and perfectly prepared, but the service and ambiance is what made the evening special. When dessert was ordered for her, it came with 3 scoops of ice cream, a pot of raspberry puree / topping, and a swan carved from an apple. A local favorite by the clientele, the chef even came out to have a toast with a group of older men solving the world's problems at the large table in the back. Best dinner we had in our three nights in Füssen. In fact, it was so fantastic that we ate there twice! I'm generally leery of restaurants with such an extensive menu, based on the theory, "jack of all trades, master of none". However, our party ordered numerous diverse items from the menu and everything was fantastic! The second visit, again with additional different items ordered, was equally excellent. Service was very attentive and prices were very reasonable, at least in comparison to similar restaurants in the USA. It is a cozy restaurant, so reservations are recommended if possible. The BEST food we ate in Füssen!! So delicious. Everything was so light and fresh but so filling. We shared the sesame duck salad appetizer (melt in your mouth!), Hefeweizen to drink, the orange duck and vegetables for the main course, and fresh apple strudel made for us for dessert. Amazing! All of it! And our waiter was great. Can't remember his name, but very helpful, prompt and funny. I would recommend making a reservation because they seemed to fill up pretty quickly.
