Great addition to the state of Connecticut. There are a ton of bands that I see passing through the area that stop here and play for free. Every time that I stop and see a band here, I am putting $30-$50 back in my pocket. I appreciate that. Over the years, I've seen Ace Frehley, Blues Traveler, Queensryche, Slash, Scott Weiland, Lee Ann Rimes etc all for the friendly price of absolutely nothing. For the bigger shows, skip the line go get in. You can hunker down around the perimeter and watch the show standing up. This doesn't bother me. I do this sort of thing at Toads Place or College Street Music. The shows are from 8 pm to 9:30. It's not like you're standing all day at the Warp Tour or Ozzfest. Smaller gigs are easy to get into. I've certainly sat inside for some tribute acts and indie rock bands like Bear Claw. My advice for the bigger shows is settle in like 7:15 or 7:30 and you'll have an excellent view for a free concert.

I had never seen a show at the wolf den and had no idea what to expect. I think they should be more specific on how it operates because everyone seemed clueless, including me LOL.. First off,I made reservations at Margaritaville for 3pm to have my birthday dinner with my family. We wanted to check out the wolf den because I also was planning on seeing Chris Lane at 8pm. Walked by at 2:30 and the line was already forming in the casino to get in to the show. It is first come first serve so there was no way we'd be able to go eat and also get a good spot in the den. My mom being as awesome as she is said to just go on and eat while she holds my spot in line. A little after 4 the line was already at least 100 people deep and the venue only holds around 300 people. Thank god she saved our place I would have been devastated. Finally around 6:30 pm they began checking Id's (21+)and the line started to move. Once you get through the bouncers, a hostess asks how many in your party and are given the option of standing room or a seat. I opted for standing room because I wanted front row..which I got. This is as close to a stage as you could possibly get, I literally had my elbows and drink resting on the actual stage. Nice that a waitress comes around taking drink orders so you don't even have to move. There's a restroom basically attached to the wolf den to the right so you don't have to venture off into the casino. I like how they have it set up,everything is convenient. Once the show started it was amazing, great lights, sound and Chris puts on a ridiculously good show. Touched his hand a few times and he came over to me and gave me a high five on top of being sang to *sigh* The show lasted almost 2 hours and I had a blast. The only bad side to the wolf den is that it being a free show, you get trashy girls that want to push their way up to the front and not care. Some big broad shoved me trying to take my place, so I got security and had her handled. The wait in line also sucks, I would have spent $$$ to lock down a seat but thats not an option. My advice if your planning on seeing a show, get there early if you're a die hard fan and want to make sure you're up front. If you just want to see a casual show then you can see it from the outskirts in the casino. I will go back for sure but just with a better game plan now that I know how it works.

The hubby read some of the other Yelper's comments and knew to go upstairs, really glad others mentioned that! The space is just big enough that you don't feel like it's tiny but just small enough to feel like you're right in the action. The bar tenders were friendly, they had lots of beer selections (not all on tap, many canned options) and the band turned out to be absolutely fabulous! Following Strange Brew on Facebook is a great way to find out about all their different shows (bands, trivia, comedy, etc) and I don't know why we waited so long to get there! We'll definitely be back.

A great thing is their response to Facebook requests for information. But, It was cold outside and when we came in, upstairs, it was cold inside too. So we decided to leave and find a place that was a bit warmer. Nite that there was plenty of seating and it looked like a nice venue. ***** Facebook response for parking. Thank you for your inquiry. There are a few options for parking including on street parking on both sides of the road. Our building is located on the right side of the road (Water Street is a one way road). There are also three parking garages across the street. Each are available for parking, two of them have signage that says otherwise but it does not apply to our business hours, 6pm till closed. There are a few other parking garages located in downtown within walking distance including Main Street parking garage. There is also parking available in the lot at the marina, about a two minute walk from us on the road running parallel with our road. Please feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the venue &/or event(s). Thanks! For the entryway their response: Sorry for delay, On the right side of the building their is a staircase. Although we own the entire building, we are located on the second floor.

They had a DJ I didn't know but he did pretty good. We danced all night and had a great time. Drinks were great. The Cosmopolitan Martine could have been better according to the few that ordered it but all other drinks were great. Bartenders were quick to take our orders considering how packed the place was. I have been here many times in the past 18 years. I loved that now they have a bucket to the left of the bar filled with water bottles. And this is great cause for us dancing all night hydration is important. So that's a plus for them. The only bad thing is that tables were filled with glassware and many broken next to dance floor. A dance floor that was packed so a little bump to the table and it could be a huge accident. Lots of broken glass on the dance floor too. I had to point out to one of the security guard the broken glasses near dance floor tables. They did take care of it fast. I may suggest to the manager to have a person come by with a bag just to pick up the actual garbage too. And maybe a bucket for glassware. Cause the guy that was picking up some was carrying it on his hand so it's hard to carry that many. So come by to have a good time. 100% recommend this place. The place is great for all ages. Music is great as well and they try to mix it up real good unless it's a theme night. Prices for drinks are reasonable considering that it's the casino. And now with no smoking band in the casino I'm happier to visit more often.
