Yummy

I have visited this winery quite a few times with some friends. I had another great day here. The wine was delicious, the band was great and the visitors were very friendly as well. This time i was able to get a chocolate wine shot. So tasty. Definitely recommend it! Sunset white is definitely a go to for a light wine.

Always a fan of the atmosphere. Such a beautiful outdoor space sitting among the Adirondack chairs surrounded by trees. The staff is always so welcoming and knowledgeable.

This is a somewhat rocky parking lot attached to a beautiful vineyard. The interior feels like a hunting lodge designed for fun instead of hunting, and there is outdoor seating on an attached deck and a second area downhill overlooking the grapes. No bears are getting these grapes, they seem to be surrounded by a secured fence. Their dessert shooter is a lot of fun - a delicate chocolate cup filled with one of their three dessert wines. It was recommended to drink about half the shooter, and then pop the whole thing. The wine blended perfectly with the chocolate. They also sell cold water and soda for those who may not be doing a tasting or drinking wine.

This is always one of our GO-TO Vineyards while in CT. The staff is always super friendly, the grounds are beautiful and the wines are very good, I especially love their Rendezvous wine... Be sure to do the chocolate shooters with dessert wine and pair the tastings with the truffles. Very delicious!!

Cayuga White and St. Croix Red! Two delicious wines for a beautiful summer day! #Connecticut #winetrail #wine

Awesome atmosphere! Great service! Yummy wine! Trifecta!! We loved kicking off our summer vacation with Maugle Sierra. One of our favorite spots on the CT Wine Trail.

They have a nice fireplace for the winter months. We went on a Sunday and brought our own food in. We enjoyed are snacks while we listed to live music. Tasty wine , more expensive then neighboring wineries. We ordered 2 bottles that came too $80.

I thought this place was adorable. The wines were good and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The front area even has your very own fairy garden to sit in, loved it!! Very relaxing and peaceful.

This vineyard definitely gets points for having the most cabin-like feel. It's a spot I could imagine staying for a while. (They do have some live music days!) However, unbelievably to me, I did not like any of the wines here. I did not find them complex enough, and the prices seemed way too much to splurge on something that I didn't like. Also, it was really hard to get anyone's attention and stay on track with the pours. I didn't feel like they knew how to handle a small crowd compared to some of the other spots on the CT Wine Trail. Not my jam, but if you're around the area, it'd be worth scoping out.

Super cute and cozy spot with plenty of seating for any size party. The staffer that gave us a tasting was great and passionate about his work. The wine was good. My favorite was the rendezvous white which is a Riesling Cayuga Chardonnay blend. Bought a bottle to save for hot weather. The best part was the dessert chocolate shooter with a dessert wine inside. Plenty of yummy snack options. There's a deck for the better weather and a fire place inside.

We drove from NY to CT on Saturday and we were hoping we spend about about 2-3 hours here. Sadly, the vineyard has closing hours at 4.30 pm. So we were able to spend about an hour. When we pulled up to the vineyard, I was very happy. It was calming and pretty. They have a gravel ( i think it's gravel) parking place. We pulled up and looked around and it was beautiful. I would imagine they hold ton of wedding and other events just because of the beauty of the place.I wish the weather was a bit warm, granted it was December but still I really wanted to enjoy my glass watching the sunset on their terrace /outdoor seating area. But I am getting ahead with the interior. We parked and walked in, the man behind the counter informed us about the closing hours. He was friendly and helpful. I must say the service is friendly and cheerful. That alone adds to your experience. When we walked we saw several tables and large party having good old time. I think we got a table because we came very close to closing time. I am not sure but you might be able to bring your own food if your holding a party. If this correct, that's amazing. Usually vineyards don't let you bring your own food. My husband and I both picked the white and rose options, for the most part. I especially liked the Rose, it was crisp and light. It was be prefect for a very hot summer afternoon. It was just delightful. My husband loved Vidal Blanc. For me Vidal Blanc was a bit more acidic than I prefer. We had about couple of glasses of the Rose and the Vidal Blanc and then we decided to buy a bottle of Rose.

You can bring food to pair with the delicious wine. We also loved that there was a disc golf course and a very nice one at that. It goes out into the woods on the property and circles back to the winery at the end. We will definitely be back.

The Vinyard is set in a refinished barn that has multiple indoor and outdoor seating areas. Sitting outside has a wonder view of the vineyard while sipping on your wine. We purchased a bottle of wine which we didn't finish so my wife asked about either re corking or sealing the bag due to it will be considered a open container in a vehicle if for any reason being pulled over by law enforcement during transport. The woman behind the bar gave a rude gesture by shrugging her shoulders and said "we dont do that" and then walked away as my wife was still talking to her. The woman then turned around and shrugged her shoulders again as if she didnt care and then disappeared. This type of customer service behavior put a bad taste in our mouths. Since there are other vineyards in the area, we will not be returning for a while, or maybe even never return again. Below is my original review. Our favorite vineyard to visit in the area. Great place with great people. We visit often. The wine is a French style and have a variety of red and white wines that are very flavorful. Saltwater has a wonderful atmosphere and is relaxing. Visit on a evening when they have live music and a food truck. Check their website for dates and times.

Kingdom of the Hawk is the sister winery to Saltwater Vineyard. The event was wonderful, we were treated to complimentary glasses of wine and cider (the cider was from the New England Brewing Company) accompanied by delicious catered hors d'oeuvres. We were able to explore the grounds at our leisure. The owners were present and they kindly stopped to chat with the visitors. The vineyard's exterior design exudes a charming modern barn aesthetic. While the interior has an industrial contemporary aesthetic, with polished concrete floors, steel beams, and a loft area with tables. The ambiance is reminiscent of its sister winery, Saltwater Vineyard. The vineyard has 2 parking lots, gender stalled handicap-accessible restrooms, and a beautiful ceremonial lawn. In conversation with one of the employees, I discovered that the wine is currently produced at Saltwater Vineyard. However, they will eventually combine the yields from both wineries in the future, and create wines for both vineyards. Given its ambiance, amenities, and scenic setting, I can easily see this place becoming a sought-after wedding venue and popular stop along the Connecticut wine trail. I definitely recommend visiting when they open to the public.

Our favorite was the Sheer Chardonnay. Normally, I don't like Un-Oaked Chardonnay, but this one was excellent. This baby came home with us. The gift shop has some very clever and unique wine related items. In fact, I thought this was the best gift shop in any vineyard I've visited. We purchased a towel, "Let's Drink Wine and Judge People". Customer Service was pretty good. As we were leaving, it appeared that the winery was having a music event on the grounds. Definitely will make a return trip to Stonington Vineyards in Stonington, Ct. Cheers everyone!!!

Its highly commercial atmosphere and bustling crowds may not appeal to those seeking a quieter, more intimate cidery experience. The interior is highlighted by the oldest steam-powered cider mill still operating in the United States, proudly displayed inside the historic barn alongside a well-stocked shop offering ciders, wines, and merchandise. There is no indoor space dedicated solely to relaxing with a drink without also being in a retail or food area. Surrounded by mature trees, the property features a picturesque barn with several themed tasting areas, outdoor cider and wine bars, and a charming food shop housed in what resembles an old farmhouse, creating an attractive and family-friendly setting. One downside is the layout requires visitors to follow a roped path around the patio and through the market to enter the food shop, reinforcing the property's distinctly commercial feel. The knowledgeable staff, authentic cidery buildings, fascinating steam-powered mill, and welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages make for an enjoyable experience. The large crowds, energetic families, and commercial nature of the property can make it feel louder and less personal than smaller craft cideries. The cider lineup showcases impressive craftsmanship and variety, with the sweet yet slightly tart Goodfella apple-blackberry blend standing out as my favorite, while The Original delivered a smooth, classic profile, Yellow Jacket offered a bright, crisp finish, and Cherry Bomb featured rich fruit character. The downside was the tasting pours were quite small and the smallest cider available for purchase was a half-gallon jug. Nestled in Old Mystic, Connecticut, B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill is more than just a stop for cider lovers, it's a piece of living history. Established in 1881, it holds the distinction of being the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the United States still in operation today. Family-owned and operated for six generations, the Clyde family continues to press apples each fall using the original steam equipment, attracting visitors from across New England eager to experience this authentic slice of Americana.
