Despite arriving (unknowingly) only 15 minutes before closing, my friend and I were treated well and still able to enjoy a quick tasting. The grounds are stunning. The wine was great. Staff was friendly. A tasting was $9 but we couldn't keep the glass today. They were out. I definitely want to return. Earlier! And I want that glass.

What a lovely little vineyard. We went yesterday and enjoyed the tasting. We both stuck with the white and rose options, for the most part. I especially liked the Vidal Blanc, it was crisp with notes of pear and honeysuckle. Unfortunately, they were out of my favorite wine, Riesling, so I went went with one red option, the Merlot, which I didn't care for. The bartender noticed and quickly replaced my taste with the Cabernet Sauvignon. With a dark chocolate kiss, this red hit the spot. I appreciated that the most expensive wine was $34 a bottle. While all wines were good, I was happy the price was fair for a CT vineyard. The staff here is incredible and extremely friendly. There were a lot of tastings going on, but they fairly took the time to explain each wine to everyone there. The tasting room is small, it maybe fits 30-40 people, but was very tastefully decorated. However, while the music (a singer) was excellent, the sound was just overwhelmingly loud for such a small space. The volume made it difficult to have any sort of conversation inside. We moved outside to avoid the noise, and found a peaceful deck with open tables and umbrellas. What a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday overlooking the entire vineyard. The setting here is stunning and it was easy to see why they were setting up for a wedding later in the day. I can only imagine the beautiful pictures the scenery would produce.

Surprised by how much I enjoyed the reds here - much more impressed by these than nearly every other CT winery (CT isn't known for reds... or wine at all ;). I stopped in with my friend on an overcast Saturday afternoon, and while the tasting room bar was packed, we were quickly fit in. I wish I caught the name of the woman who led our tasting - she was fabulous! The sampling includes 5 wines and you can really choose your own adventure from their extensive offerings. My friend went with a mix of whites, rosé and reds, while I went down the entire line of reds (it seemed like that kinda day - hello fall!). I tried the estate stone valley red, merlot, estate cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, and melange. Honestly, they were all good, obviously in different ways. I don't usually like merlot all that much but really enjoyed this one. It tasted like a hug. We'd packed ourselves an impromptu picnic and set up on one of their picnic tables overlooking the grounds. It really is a great layout here with ample inside seating, deck seating, and communal tables on the lawns. We each got a glass to enjoy with our food before the rain started - can't wait to come back on a sunny day!

On a weekend getaway to Mohegan Sun and husband planned a visit here. It was very lovely thought and visit. We drove from NY to CT on Saturday and we were hoping we spend about about 2-3 hours here. Sadly, the vineyard has closing hours at 4.30 pm. So we were able to spend about an hour. When we pulled up to the vineyard, I was very happy. It was calming and pretty. They have a gravel ( i think it's gravel) parking place. We pulled up and looked around and it was beautiful. I would imagine they hold ton of wedding and other events just because of the beauty of the place.I wish the weather was a bit warm, granted it was December but still I really wanted to enjoy my glass watching the sunset on their terrace /outdoor seating area. But I am getting ahead with the interior. We parked and walked in, the man behind the counter informed us about the closing hours. He was friendly and helpful. I must say the service is friendly and cheerful. That alone adds to your experience. When we walked we saw several tables and large party having good old time. I think we got a table because we came very close to closing time. I am not sure but you might be able to bring your own food if your holding a party. If this correct, that's amazing. Usually vineyards don't let you bring your own food. My husband and I both picked the white and rose options, for the most part. I especially liked the Rose, it was crisp and light. It was be prefect for a very hot summer afternoon. It was just delightful. My husband loved Vidal Blanc. For me Vidal Blanc was a bit more acidic than I prefer. We had about couple of glasses of the Rose and the Vidal Blanc and then we decided to buy a bottle of Rose.

I really enjoyed my time here. The weather wasn't the greatest, but the lovely woman behind the counter (owner?) was more than happy to dry off a few chairs outside for us so we could enjoy a glass with a view. They have a fairly large portfolio so you are sure to find something you like. There are tables inside as well as the outside seating. Cheese and crackers are sold so you can nibble while you taste. You are also more than welcome to bring your own food in. I'll definitely be back!

Beautiful spot for a wine tasting overlooking the vineyard. My friend was visiting from Boston, so we came to Preston Ridge since it is not far from Mohegan Sun (even closer to Foxwoods). The grounds are very pretty, and the tasting room was small, yet inviting. We did the wine tasting of 5 wines for $9. I feel it was just a smidge pricey since the pours we got were very small. Regardless, we each picked 5 wines to try. I'm a red wine drinker, so I picked 4 red and one white. Surprisingly my favorite was the Vidal Blanc. The reds weren't terrible, they just weren't very full bodied and not something I would drink. Afterwards we got some cheese and crackers, ordered a glass, and sat outside. The wine here overall is much better than the last CT winery I went to, so kudos to Preston Ridge. I also liked the different snack options available for purchase and the tasting room. Lots of people brought picnic baskets with their own food and just sat outside to relax with some wine. Make sure you're here on the early side. We got here a half hour after they opened and most tables were already occupied!

We are from RI but frequently visit Preston Ridge because it is one of our favorite vineyards on the wine trail! The property is lovely, with a nice big patio and comfortable chairs to sit in while you sip your wine and look at the lovely view. The wines are delicious and never let you down!

Amazing views of the Vineyards from the patio. Their Fieldstone white wine is impressive. Good wine to serve for luncheons and casual get togethers. Team members were congenial . We arrived at closing time with the place busy preparing for an evening wedding and they were nice enough to still accommodate us for wine tasting. Hopkins was totally the opposite .... curt and evidently annoyed that we walked in on them they were almost ready to wrap up for the day . Preston is one of our top choices to host our next private event ...

Preston Ridge has some beautiful grounds, but unfortunately we didn't like any of the wines this summer. It's a nice touch that they offer dark chocolate kisses with the last red, though I found it didn't do much for the flavor. The people pouring the wine were good at their spiel but seemed surprised that we had additional questions.

I had a similar experience to Mark K last Friday…read more We had two foursomes and bought a replay. I have heard a lot about the course and wanted to play for some time now. The first round went fine and the course is beautiful and expansive (long rides between green and tee boxes), I don't think anyone would want to walk the course unless you have 6-7 hours. The second round didn't go so well. We were told that we had a threesome in front of us and that we would be able to finish the second 18 no problem. We got on the 2nd hole and that threesome became a sixsome. We called the pro shop and they sent the starter out, it initially cleared up but by hole #7 there were 6 people on the green all playing their shots. We called again and it became a he said she said thing. We were told that there the 2 extras were only watching, but yet 6 people had bags on their carts. To make things worse, our cart died. We had to get pushed to the turn where we switched out our cart. While we were getting our cart switched, I walked into the pro shop to voice my displeasure and asked if they usually let sixsomes out. The reply was "not usually, but sometimes". If I had known that, I wouldn't have driven 1.5 hours and paid $200! Since the people in charge decided to do nothing about the sixsome and we would never finish the second 9, we decided to play the front 9 AGAIN. After 3 holes, our cart died again. There was no answer from the pro shop and we asked the cart girl to send help...that help never came. To top it all off after having my cart pushed for the remaining 6-7 holes, when we finished, we pushed the cart next to my car where I unloaded everything. I was about to leave and someone who was in charge of the carts came and got the cart, he told me "it was a d!ck move to leave the cart there". So I have 1 cart that doesn't work, switch it out for another cart that doesn't work, have to play behind a sixsome and don't get to play the 2nd back 9, and I am the one who is wrong? It's unfortunate because the course is beautiful, but the customer experience is probably the worst I have ever had. It was not worth the drive or the money for me.

Kingdom of the Hawk is the sister winery to Saltwater Vineyard. The event was wonderful, we were treated to complimentary glasses of wine and cider (the cider was from the New England Brewing Company) accompanied by delicious catered hors d'oeuvres. We were able to explore the grounds at our leisure. The owners were present and they kindly stopped to chat with the visitors. The vineyard's exterior design exudes a charming modern barn aesthetic. While the interior has an industrial contemporary aesthetic, with polished concrete floors, steel beams, and a loft area with tables. The ambiance is reminiscent of its sister winery, Saltwater Vineyard. The vineyard has 2 parking lots, gender stalled handicap-accessible restrooms, and a beautiful ceremonial lawn. In conversation with one of the employees, I discovered that the wine is currently produced at Saltwater Vineyard. We also did the afternoon tea, which was absolutely lovely and a good value. Our hotel room was clean, comfy, modern, and spacious. The spa facilities were also extremely clean and well kept, with the ladies locker room stocked with everything you could ever need. Every staff person we dealt with from the hotel to the restaurants to the spa was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the hot tub/sauna/steam room area.. yes, it was crowded a few times but I noticed that crowds in both the pool and hot tub areas tended to clear quickly and several times I had both to myself! I especially appreciated the thoughtful little touches everywhere, like cold washcloths available for post-sauna cooldowns and fresh flowers all over the place. The vibe was extremely relaxed and I appreciated that when staying in the hotel you get full use of the spa facilities even on check-out day. We had breakfast and lunch at Kensington's and also had the afternoon tea. Everything was delicious!! Good cocktails too. I wished the indoor pool had been larger to better accommodate busy times, and the spa treatments are definitely on the pricey side, but those are about the only two criticisms I can come up with about this place! We finally came back today to use my gift cards and sadly, our whole spa experience wasn't the 5 star of yesteryear... Firstly, this is what went right: Yes, it's still very pretty and the staff are terrific as always. The spa itself is just lovely New England charm. We were greeted well and given our itinerary. We went to our respective locker rooms for comfy robes and slippers. I had a nice swim before our massages. We both loved our massage therapists, mine was Kisbel, hubby's was Alexis. All good there! Secondly, what went wrong? We were saddened to see that the fun activities that were always included are either MIA entirely like the wine tasting, or are being up-charged tremendously like the formerly complimentary tea and scones! Really?! Bummer!! Also, when I booked online, I saw that my go-to all-inclusive personal day package is no longer offered. No decent pick two services like a massage & pedicure with included lunch plus fitness class to round out your spa day. After our massages, we chilled out in the relaxation room, no reading materials provided anymore, but they still do have loungers and comfy blankets. As there was nothing else of interest included to do anymore, we made a reservation for dinner out with plenty of time after we check out. Not a bad experience up to this point, just slightly disappointing to be wanting to leave so much earlier than in the past. Now here's where things went terribly awry---the operator of the check out process "Anashelly" could NOT process my gift cards! It was $300 in gift cards, leaving a balance of $97.30, a hefty total of $397.30 for only two 50 minute massages. Finally she phoned a higher up and explained the system wasn't working correctly. MUCH time passed and the line is now out the door behind me! Worse than that, we will miss our special dinner and I'm also so embarrassed! Finally I say we are leaving and we can handle it later over the phone. I paid $397.30 and I left a ball of stress after looking forward to this for over a year. I have come here with friends & family for almost 27 years now, but I will decidedly NOT BE RETURNING. PS Adding insult to injury, they also stopped sending me my usual birthday coupon years ago. Having to report all this?? Spa at Norwich Inn you break my spa loving heart!
