This was such a fun and unique experience. The winery is classy and cozy inside with a deck that has sweeping views. The team there is very friendly and enjoyed making suggestions. You can bring food to pair with the delicious wine. We also loved that there was a disc golf course and a very nice one at that. Came here for an event on a beautiful evening and I must say, we had an absolutely perfect time. The food they provided, the tent & tables, the vineyards wine, the local brewerie's beer they had as an option, the musicians music, it was all just perfect. We set out to conn for the day for some wine tasting. The first place we went we felt rushed and they were a little snobby. So we chalked it up to a bad day and moved on. This place made our drive to conn worth it ! This appears to be a family operation where the sweet woman at the desk was part of. Her son was there , playing at a table. She was very welcoming and gave us the run down of the wines. We got our flights and went to the back deck to enjoy. It's a beautiful space and the wine was delicious. We even got a bottle to go to save for a special occasion. They sell some snacks to go with the wine or you can bring some in. The group siting by the fire pits under us looked like they were having a blast and we wanted to join them ! This is a beautiful Space to whittle away a few hours drinking food wine. Rude We drove 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there and arrived at 4:02. They said last call was at 4:00 and would not serve us. This was very disappointing. The only winery that I have never been to in Connecticut. We saw that they were open until 4:30 but they should post that they will not serve after 4 and only 2 minutes late...very rude. read more

Super vineyard! I have been a few times and I don't even drink wine! On that note, they have a limited variety of beer. I found one I enjoyed. Music was good when I visited. There is a deck up on the hill, and below there is a tent, and also a fire pit, if you're lucky enough to be there early to get it. Service was good, they had enough staff! read more

What a lovely little vineyard. We went yesterday and enjoyed the tasting. We both stuck with the white and rose options, for the most part. I especially liked the Vidal Blanc, it was crisp with notes of pear and honeysuckle. Unfortunately, they were out of my favorite wine, Riesling, so I went went with one red option, the Merlot, which I didn't care for. The bartender noticed and quickly replaced my taste with the Cabernet Sauvignon. With a dark chocolate kiss, this red hit the spot. I appreciated that the most expensive wine was $34 a bottle. While all wines were good, I was happy the price was fair for a CT vineyard. The staff here is incredible and extremely friendly. There were a lot of tastings going on, but they fairly took the time to explain each wine to everyone there. The tasting room is small, it maybe fits 30-40 people, but was very tastefully decorated. However, while the music (a singer) was excellent, the sound was just overwhelmingly loud for such a small space. The volume made it difficult to have any sort of conversation inside. We moved outside to avoid the noise, and found a peaceful deck with open tables and umbrellas. What a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday overlooking the entire vineyard. The setting here is stunning and it was easy to see why they were setting up for a wedding later in the day. I can only imagine the beautiful pictures the scenery would produce. read more

Surprised by how much I enjoyed the reds here - much more impressed by these than nearly every other CT winery (CT isn't known for reds... or wine at all ;). I stopped in with my friend on an overcast Saturday afternoon, and while the tasting room bar was packed, we were quickly fit in. I wish I caught the name of the woman who led our tasting - she was fabulous! The sampling includes 5 wines and you can really choose your own adventure from their extensive offerings. My friend went with a mix of whites, rosé and reds, while I went down the entire line of reds (it seemed like that kinda day - hello fall!). I tried the estate stone valley red, merlot, estate cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, and melange. Honestly, they were all good, obviously in different ways. I don't usually like merlot all that much but really enjoyed this one. It tasted like a hug. We'd packed ourselves an impromptu picnic and set up on one of their picnic tables overlooking the grounds. It really is a great layout here with ample inside seating, deck seating, and communal tables on the lawns. We each got a glass to enjoy with our food before the rain started - can't wait to come back on a sunny day! read more

While I want to keep COVID in mind, as things and personalities are vastly different than before, with the opportunity to space out and enjoy an outdoor activity, Preston Ridge Vineyard might not be for your group of more than 4. We would've purchased 12 bottles of wine, but decided on just the promotion because of the rude, condescending disposition of the manager. On a weekend getaway to Mohegan Sun and husband planned a visit here. It was very lovely thought and visit. We drove from NY to CT on Saturday and we were hoping we spend about about 2-3 hours here. Sadly, the vineyard has closing hours at 4.30 pm. So we were able to spend about an hour. When we pulled up to the vineyard, I was very happy. It was calming and pretty. They have a gravel ( i think it's gravel) parking place. We pulled up and looked around and it was beautiful. I would imagine they hold ton of wedding and other events just because of the beauty of the place.I wish the weather was a bit warm, granted it was December but still I really wanted to enjoy my glass watching the sunset on their terrace /outdoor seating area. But I am getting ahead with the interior. We parked and walked in, the man behind the counter informed us about the closing hours. He was friendly and helpful. I must say the service is friendly and cheerful. That alone adds to your experience. When we walked we saw several tables and large party having good old time. I think we got a table because we came very close to closing time. I am not sure but you might be able to bring your own food if your holding a party. If this correct, that's amazing. Usually vineyards don't let you bring your own food. My husband and I both picked the white and rose options, for the most part. I especially liked the Rose, it was crisp and light. It was be prefect for a very hot summer afternoon. It was just delightful. My husband loved Vidal Blanc. For me Vidal Blanc was a bit more acidic than I prefer. We had about couple of glasses of the Rose and the Vidal Blanc and then we decided to buy a bottle of Rose. read more

The weather wasn't the greatest, but the lovely woman behind the counter (owner?) was more than happy to dry off a few chairs outside for us so we could enjoy a glass with a view. They have a fairly large portfolio so you are sure to find something you like. There are tables inside as well as the outside seating. Cheese and crackers are sold so you can nibble while you taste. Beautiful spot for a wine tasting overlooking the vineyard. My friend was visiting from Boston, so we came to Preston Ridge since it is not far from Mohegan Sun (even closer to Foxwoods). The grounds are very pretty, and the tasting room was small, yet inviting. We did the wine tasting of 5 wines for $9. I feel it was just a smidge pricey since the pours we got were very small. Regardless, we each picked 5 wines to try. I'm a red wine drinker, so I picked 4 red and one white. Surprisingly my favorite was the Vidal Blanc. The reds weren't terrible, they just weren't very full bodied and not something I would drink. Afterwards we got some cheese and crackers, ordered a glass, and sat outside. The wine here overall is much better than the last CT winery I went to, so kudos to Preston Ridge. I also liked the different snack options available for purchase and the tasting room. Lots of people brought picnic baskets with their own food and just sat outside to relax with some wine. Make sure you're here on the early side. We got here a half hour after they opened and most tables were already occupied! read more

Not pleased. The wine was fine, really - a little pricey for bottles but just a smidge above what their competitors are charging. My low star review is based on service. We arrived on Saturday afternoon around 1pm. There was a large bridal party at a table in the middle of the room and both tasting counters were pretty packed. We were waved over to the end of one by an older woman (she was not in a staff shirt but went behind the bar a few times so I am assuming she works there). We were not even acknowledged by any of the women behind the counter for a few minutes as we witnessed basic chaos around the room. Our tasting of 5 wines took close to 45 minutes from start to finish because no one knew what was going on. We witnessed the women behind the bar serve one group, then go to the other bar, then come back and serve another different group. They were all over the place and there was no sense of direction at all. I think 3 different women poured for us and yet another processed our payments. I hope it isn't always like this, but I don't plan on returning to find out. I liked the Estate Harvest Blend, Fieldstone White, Sunset Farm Dry Rose, and the Estate Stone Valley Red but not really enough to purchase. read more

It's a very pretty vineyard, I wish I had spent more time there. I rushed in towards the end of their day (they close at 4:30 on Saturday) and got distracted en route by a dog named Spotty. (Spotty is fine, he's local artwork) I was still greeted with a smile, able to make the transactions I needed to, and even got a stamp for my passport. Amazing views of the Vineyards from the patio. Their Fieldstone white wine is impressive. Good wine to serve for luncheons and casual get togethers. Team members were congenial . We arrived at closing time with the place busy preparing for an evening wedding and they were nice enough to still accommodate us for wine tasting. Hopkins was totally the opposite .... curt and evidently annoyed that we walked in on them they were almost ready to wrap up for the day . Preston Ridge has some beautiful grounds, but unfortunately we didn't like any of the wines this summer. It's a nice touch that they offer dark chocolate kisses with the last red, though I found it didn't do much for the flavor. The new kid on the block is a welcome addition to the wine trail. Honestly, I didn't expect much, knowing that young businesses often need a little time to find their footing. But my experience with Preston Ridge was perhaps one of my favorites in the SE leg of the trail. I immediately loved the simple, classy vibe of the tasting room, with exposed beams and several tables where you could hang out with your friends. There is also seating on the deck (with these really cool barrels with lacquered tree pieces as tabletops) with an absolutely magnificent view of the property. A friendly musician was setting up in the corner when we arrived. A+ for first impression. We each chose 5 of the 10 wines to taste for $8. There was the option to taste additional wines at $1 each or $3 for their reserve, but since it was 11am, we passed. I appreciated the option of not keeping the glasses (they are few extra dollars) as I have so many CT winery glasses and don't really want any more. The grapes are grown on site and in New York. We both liked the Fieldstone White (which we later enjoyed a bottle of on the deck) and Rock Ridge Red. The rose was also delightful with a nice raspberry flavor, that really came to life when paired with the dark chocolate. I also tried the Riesling and a Chardonnay, which were just ok. Preston Ridge is off to a great start and I look forward to seeing them grow and mature. read more

Stop #3 on our first 2014 CT Wine Trail Excursion. This is one of the newer - if not newest wineries in Connecticut. Gorgeous grounds, tasting room and the wines (although not my favorites of the day) definitely have the possibility of producing some great wines in the future if their vines continue to mature. Definitely a place to stop and check out and if the mood strikes you, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds or out on their patio. read more

The vineyard is in a beautiful spot in Preston, CT. All the wines I sampled were good! I especially liked the Melange red. It is a Bordeaux style wine, made up of a blend of Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. We enjoyed a glass each of it out on the scenic deck. We would've loved to have purchased a bottle but at $33 a pop, it was easily $10 more than I would've expected to spend. It's a beautiful place, great service, view, good wines, but the bottles are a too pricey compared to other vineyards in the Eastern CT area. They let you bring in your own snacks which is a definite plus compared to others we've been to! read more

Stopped into the winery on a Sunday afternoon. The scenery is beautiful and the building itself is perfect, but the music when we were there was SO loud it was hard to enjoy the indoors. The wine was okay... my husband and I like red and white wine but when we did the tasting, we really didn't like any enough to buy even a glass. I would suggest doing the wine tasting before deciding on which glass you would like to drink. read more

This was the first stop on our wine tour and was instantly charmed by the beautiful location. The winery was full of natural light and the rustic decor made the winery very welcoming. There is a great patio with a view of the vines and some sort of grass court. When we got to the bar, they told us to take a seat at a nearby table and they would serve us wine tastings there. This was great instead of sitting around a crowded bar trying the different wines...though, we picked the largest table and felt like I was screaming across the table since the live music was a little too loud for my liking. Speaking of the live music, it was great! The band mostly played billy Joel hits but they were very talented. I asked them to play "fancy" but they didn't....bummer! For the wine tastings, this was by far the biggest pour compared to the other wineries. I really appreciate the generous pours!! The wines were full of body and not too sweet (at least the ones we said). My fave was the estate Cabernet Franc and the Chardonnay reserve. Though, my friend said she had the estate chard in addition to the reserve and she loved the estate! I think our overall group consensus was that the estate was better than non-estate. Looking forward to the winery coming out with new wines!! read more

My boyfriend and I were on a vineyard tour mission & were only able to stop by here for a bit but I absolutely loved it and hope I can get back soon. The tasting room is beautiful & adorably quaint, there are a few tables inside, as well as tables outside on the patio which overlooked the vineyard, and offered breathtaking views. The tasting room smelled like freshly cut wood, which I absolutely love & they had a gentleman playing live music inside. We ended up chatting with the owner's father for a bit who was super friendly & very hospitable. I only had a chance to sample the Fieldstone White which was very tasty. This was a very picturesque vineyard and tasting room with a large deck overlooking the vineyard and local landscape. The people here were very friendly and exceedingly knowledgeable about their products. There is a small offering of gift items and the wines were perfectly fine. We took a few bottles with us and enjoyed the tasting immensely. If in the area I would recommend visiting Preston Ridge. Tagged along with a couple friends to check out wedding venues. Preston Ridge has a more rural location than a few of the other vineyards on the CT wine trail, mostly because one direction that brings you here is through a long, windy, tree-covered back road, and there's a farm next door. The tasting room building looks like a barn, and the inside is cute, like entering into someone's living room. The vibe of the place is rather like home, friendly, casual, disarming. One of its best attributes as a venue is PR's situation on a ridge, it's got a panoramic view over vines and trees as well as some possible event space. Big windows in tasting room to take advantage of the vantage point. Sauvignon blanc was not bad; we shared a bottle. Some minor kinks but feels like a young business and vineyard coming into its own. read more

Our first visit to the vinyard itself, although we have enjoyed their wines purchased at a farmers market. The staff made us feel right at home, and the wine is lovely! The Zundell Farm Rose was a perfect complement to a lobster roll from the food truck. The scenery is gorgeous, especially at sunset. It was a little crowded and we wish there were more seating where we could hear the music, but we still had a very nice time. Capt. Scott's food truck and the Fake Experience Duo rounded out our very pleasureable evening. Due to the visually appealing high ceilings, everyone's conversation made it hard to hear the musicians sometimes. Perhaps having the music outside with more seating would be a solution? Nice property, newer tasting room, a bit small, but still nice. The price is expensive for the quality, but typical for the area, expect to pay $28-32 for a bottle.
