The people that run this place are super friendly and have a regular clientele. The deli counter has smoked meats, cold cuts and cheeses, etc. and in the aisles they have Polish beer, liquor, candy (some even contains alcohol), various condiments, pickled veggies, jams, canned herring, and plenty more. They even have a small refrigerator/ frozen section with cold single bottle beers, more smoked meats, perogies, hunter stew, and Czarnnina. There's a small self serve bakery section and when we recently stopped in on a Sunday for hot ham and rolls a gentlemen ahead of me got the last few remaining rolls. We got lucky however, minutes later an oven bell rang and fresh rolls were out of the oven and into a paper bag for us as we checked out. During the week they will gladly make you a tasty sandwich with generous portions. I had the roast beef and the Mrs had a ham sandwich. This place is a hidden gem! Prices are reasonable, and the service is good, check it out!

A little less choice in Far East Asian ingredients, and little to nothing of interest to South Asian cooks. The assumption might be that anyone shopping here is feeding a clan because it's hard to get only enough vegetables for two humans, but the prices for fresh produce are so good a little waste doesn't bother me too much (especially since I compost). If you are single and not Asian, and think you're okay with American supermarket instant ramen, you need to rethink cheap eats and try some instant noodle soup from here. A few coins more will get you much tastier instant noodle soups, especially the ones without good English translation on the packages. Add some of the fresh vegetables and tofu or bean sprouts you get here and you can make a cheap meal nutritious and well balances. I guess technically bean sprouts are vegetables but noodle soups require more than two added ingredients I think.

Their pork belly and chicken are a great deal and I love trying their new products in their frozen section (they always have the coolest ice cream)! For the cost of the class, I would have thought I would have got a bit more. The other thing that disappointed me was the glasses are open to all ages of children. In my class, I was there with a middle school boy who somewhat took ownership of the class and wasn't behaving very appropriate for what I thought was an adult-only class. This was an event I purchased as an adult-friendly evening, I do wish this was stated when signing up for classes or at least offer adult-only or all ages classes. It just wasn't the vibe I was going for that evening and frankly was pretty annoying. Although, the owner did try to play down the boy's presence and kindly answer his questions, etc - I probably wouldn't take another class there unfortunately. I do enjoy the shop and the pasta is tasty.

Petra and Andy take such pride in their shop and it shows! We started wandering (and salivating over) their small but impressive selection of sauces, oils, salts, and Italian goodies. They have samples of most of their items, so definitely ask when you're in! The class started with Petra giving a brief overview of the general recipe and then we got our hands dirty almost immediately kneading the dough. The dough got to rest for a bit while we got to sip on some beautiful red wine and Petra taught us how to make a puttanesca sauce. When we went back to knead some more, Andy had magically cleaned the stations and set us up for the next round! On our next rest break, Petra finished assembling the puttanesca with some pasta she made earlier that day and we got a healthy serving of fresh pasta and puttanesca, followed by a sample of some of the most amazing Panettone I have ever had. The care that Petra and Andy put into their work is evident, and their commitment to supporting organic, high quality foods is remarkable. Looking forward to many more classes here!

Holy Cow. I always…read morehoped Milwaukee had a place like this: a legit Indian grocery with all the fixings. 40-pound rice bags? Check. Aisles of spices and sauces? Check. I myself stop in every time I'm with my vegetarian pals at Bombay Sweets next door and load up on giant boxes of British black tea at cut-rate prices. I suggest you at least do the same, and keep your eyes peeled too. It's the kind of place that rewards an adventurous cook.

Best Food Store IS a convenience store, but it's also the neighborhood go-to for everything and anything one might need to prepare a delicious Indian meal. They rock a crazy awesome and relatively obscure produce section. They've also got a killer selection of spices (Indian and otherwise) in bulk on the super-cheap. I got a container of 30 dates for $1.99 from the Best Food Store. Yesterday, I stuffed said dates with chévre and wrapped them in bacon for a Super Bowl party. Other items available for purchase include blackberry-flavored Old English malt liquor, cast iron pots/pans, various essential oils, prepared/frozen Indian foods, and lots, lots more. If you're into cooking, Indian food, or exploring your city's super-hidden gems, stop by this spot one time. They've got lots of rad stuff on the super-cheap. Boom.
