The food is amazing! Better Jamaican food than I had in Montego Bay. Highly, highly recommend. Portions are huge and the prices are not.

Food cannot be beat. Service can be slow, but worth the wait. Oxtails and chicken entrees are best!

The place is a mad house ... parking lot is full and be prepared for a grocery cart rally. Went on a Saturday morning. New guy in town for the experience. Multiple deli counters and fantastic choices. Service was excellent. Tried many cold cuts and salads. Hot dishes were popular with other shoppers but that wasn't a priority for us. Great breads to choose from. This old world deli is jam packed full of goodies. So many, we are returning today for another pass. Couldn't make it out the door without trying some of their chocolates. The triple dipped malted milk balls will put you in a coma. Highly recommend without any reservations. Allow plenty of time and grab a cart as soon as you enter. Bon Appetite !

We had already planned on visiting Franks Diner in Kenosha so we were excited to see that Tenuta's was just a few miles from Franks. After our excellent breakfast at Franks, we made our way to Tenuta's. We were both surprised and kind of excited when we arrived at an empty parking lot with plenty of spaces. It was when we attempted to go in that we noticed that they did not open for 15 minutes. Thus the empty parking lot. What happened over the next 15 minutes was something we have never experienced before. Cars began pulling in 2 and 3 at a time. People were walking up in groups to stand and wait for them to open. Keep in mind this was December and it was pretty cold outside. The closer we got to the time they opened, the more people that arrived. It kind of felt like black Friday shopping. People kept lining up and before you knew it, the parking lot was almost full. Wow. All for good reason as we got inside. Tenutas' is a one stop shop. They have pre-made foods, frozen foods, deli hot food, alcohol, of course some cheese, you name it. We picked up some Italian sausage, some frozen ravioli with their homemade sauce and a pack of their Italian beef. We really enjoyed the ravioli and the homemade sauce was delicious. Being a Chicago guy, the Italian beef was good, just not Chicago quality. The mild Italian sausage was very good and we look forward to enjoying the additional links that we have left. Very popular place that we would definitely visit again when we are back in the area.

A little less choice in Far East Asian ingredients, and little to nothing of interest to South Asian cooks. The assumption might be that anyone shopping here is feeding a clan because it's hard to get only enough vegetables for two humans, but the prices for fresh produce are so good a little waste doesn't bother me too much (especially since I compost). If you are single and not Asian, and think you're okay with American supermarket instant ramen, you need to rethink cheap eats and try some instant noodle soup from here. A few coins more will get you much tastier instant noodle soups, especially the ones without good English translation on the packages. Add some of the fresh vegetables and tofu or bean sprouts you get here and you can make a cheap meal nutritious and well balances. I guess technically bean sprouts are vegetables but noodle soups require more than two added ingredients I think.

Made the trek to Mei Hua Asian market in West Allis. I really like this place, but want to like it…read moremore. It's a bit hidden in the corner of the shopping center at National and Hwy 100 (108th St). It's a small place, with rather narrow aisles. However, as much as I like this place, and as much as I like to shop there, I can't in good conscience give it high marks for the following reasons: 1. It just doesn't feel very clean. Lots of miscellaneous "schmutz" in the freezers, on the counters, on the shelves, on the floors. Pieces and parts of products smooshed here and there, especially in the produce section, and the store shelves and racks (especially the produce area) didn't look clean, nor like they'd been cleaned or wiped down in some time. Gave me kind of a "brother, ewww" feeling. 2. As well "neat and tidy" aren't words I'd use about this shop. As noted above, things are strewn about rather higgledy-piggledy, with products in the wrong places, or in a "this doesn't make sense here" location, or whole shelves of product overturned, or items fallen down the freezer units, or stacked on the floors in the aisles....things seemed to be piled all over the place, even by the pay register. Maybe I came on restocking day? As noted, it's a tiny place, they've really done their best to shoe-horned in their products, but I noticed something rather odd. Rather than tear down the wall to increase their store square footage with what I assume was a space next door that became available, they instead opened a tiny cafe/restaurant. Made me wonder...why? Especially what with the way everything is already so crammed into the store? Is this "normal" for these kinds of places? 3. This one didn't make for easy shopping. It seems as if only about 25% of the store is price-tagged or price marked. And current price tags are old, worn, torn, or don't even reflect the items on the shelves above or around them. The back room was the worst. They would have 4-5 brands of a similar item on a shelf, with only ONE very worn price tag for only ONE of those products. When I got to the checkout, I had to ask what the price was on a couple of items, and then ended up not buying them, something that could have been avoided if they'd been marked. As well, none the hard goods (plates, bowls, utensils, pots & pans, etc) seemed to be price-marked at all from what I could see. Mei Hua, price ALL of your items, please! 4. Lastly - mind you, I didn't have time to look for, nor did I notice this on my most recent visit - but in past visits I had noticed several items that were well past the due dates stamped on product packages or containers. We're talking MANY months out of date. So that was a bit unnerving, but I don't know if this issue has been resolved or not. I know the profit margin for grocery stores is razor thin; perhaps even moreso with these small "mom & pop" types of places that cater to a smaller group of people. Perhaps they opened the cafe in hopes of bringing in more revenue? However, while all of this above will not stop me from shopping at Mei Hua, it will make me much more cautious about the products I do buy there. YMMV of course.

When I contacted them, they first offered a 25% partial refund and to keep the items. I asked for 60% instead and they agreed. But when they refunded me, they did not include the total cost with the shipping. This was a complete rip off, because it is their fault that they advertised the wrong product and sold it online without checking the ingredients. It's their fault, they should have refunded on the total cost, which included their very expensive $25 shipping. When I emailed them about this, they said that I agreed to the 60% refund on the items, and that this didn't include the shipping cost, but I never agreed to receiving 60% on the items without the expensive shipping charge. This was a trick of theirs. They are the ones that made the false advertisement for the wrong product. It's their fault, they don't get to do things like exclude the expensive shipping from the percentage of the total cost that they are refunding me. I would not order from them again.

There didn't seem to be anyone smoking so I am not sure where that smell was coming from. When you walk in you seat yourself and very promptly a very sweet waitress welcomed us and she brought water. I ordered the chicken wings, and my gf ordered a breakfast burger and we ordered some fried cheese curds. The cheese curds were amazing. Honestly the best I have ever eaten. The coating on the curds was very light, basically a dusting of coating but they were delicious. My gf's burger looked good and she said it tasted good too it had a soft egg, bacon and cheddar cheese on it. You could see the egg running down the sides of the burger. I got my chicken wings just fried with teriyaki sauce on the side. The wings were pretty good with no real coating on the chicken. The chicken was good but nothing spectacular. The best part of the whole lunch was the fantastic waitress welcomed us had. Lunch was by all means good, if I had just had the curds I would have said it was the very best. The other foods brought it down a notch but I would go back and try something else!
