Satay Beef Noodle Soup with Spring Rolls. You can see how much broth I had left over. Delicious!
Bradford P.

Last night I walked out of a Tokyo Express in Mill Woods after watching 20 minutes of restaurant meltdown, during which no one even tried to take my order. On my way back home, I wheeled the car into Wok This Way, which I have been eyeing since I moved into the neighbourhood 2 weeks ago. I had already checked out their menu online, and was determined to try their Satay Beef Noodle Soup, as I have been on a search for the best one in town. I walked in to what I can only describe as the the best example of Pandemic Management I have seen in a restaurant. These folks are taking it seriously and are only doing takeout and delivery, from behind a wall of tables and chairs stacked high and wrapped in plastic. A very nice lady took my order, a bit surprised that I seemed to know the menu, and bade me wait in my car. They would call me when it was ready. I retired to my vehicle, and listed to a friend spin tunes on CKUA for some 20 minutes, until my phone rang. I masked back up, and re-entered to pick up my order, which seemed huge for a bowl of soup and 4 spring rolls. Home was only a couple of minutes away, and when I opened the bag I was pleasantly surprised at the sheer volume of food. There was a bowl with the beef, noodles and veg, and a separate container that held far more broth than was going to fit in that bowl, along with a wide selection of sauces. Chili sauce, soy and plum were represented along with Hoisin and a different hot sauce. The soup was too hot to get to right away, so I tried a spring roll, which was pretty much perfect. Crisp and delicious with just the right balance of ingredients. On to the soup... I was taken aback by the quantity of tender seasoned beef, completely covering the top of the bowl, on a generous bed of fresh noodle and veggies. The broth was delicious, and once added to the bowl the smell was amazing. I would rank this in my top 3 Satay Beef Noodle soups in Edmonton, Behind Pagolac and Thahn Thahn, but it will be an easy #2 for day to day eating. (Thahn Thahn's is amazing, but is so spicy I need to have a recovery day afterward.) Wok This Way's is not overly spicy, of it's own accord, but that is remedied with liberal applications of the provided hot sauce. I will be returning often to this little neighbourhood gem, and I look forward to trying more from their menu. Solid first impression... Food - 5 Service - 4 Restaurant - 4 If you find yourself in this neck of the Woods (Mill, that is...) check out Wok This Way, but call ahead.

Just at the counter ready to pay for my pick up

I love this place! The first time I ordered was on my way home from work, (I always pass this place and told myself I'm going to check this place out one day) I looked them up on yelp and called and made my order because I knew that by the time I get there it would be ready (traffic at 4:30pm on 50th street is insane). I finally got in and was greeted by a very nice happy guy! I mean seriously after going through that crazy traffic jam I was a little bit on edge but he made me calm down with his happy demeanor. I only had to wait for a couple of minutes for my meal and I was on my way. I came home and I was so happy with my the meal, I ordered a lemon grass chicken on rice and my partner had the Pho. They were very cautious with my peanut allergy so plus plus 1! The food was amazing so I decided to come back soon. Today which is a Sunday and I'm so happy that they are open and so close by that I wanted Pho and lemon grass chicken. I called in and I decided on delivery instead of pick up (call me lazy). I ordered Pho, lemon grass chicken and beef, small hot n sour soup, and green onion cake. They arrived in less that an hour in which they quoted me so plus 1! The food came hot and tasted great! I love this place! I live in a new area that just got built and always had problems with delivery but they got the address without any help, I'm impressed! I'm ordering here all the time!

Our daughter with her Satay Beef Pho

We were here on vacation from Las Vegas looking for highly rated Chinese food. Thus place was worth the long drive from our hotel. My daughter had the Satay Beef Pho. The rest of us ordered a bunch of platters. We loved the Chicken Chow Me in, Shanghai Noodles and Lemon Chicken. The staff were very kind and constantly refilling our water. We even got a lot of local info from our waitress.

Chow mein noodles weren't even cooked!

Service was quick and pleasant but that's about it for the positive. Ordered Shanghai noodles which were ok but very greasy. The chicken chow mein was awful. Chicken was rubbery amd looked unappealing. The bed of noodles it was on looked like Ichiban amd half wasn't even cooked. Inedible. Doubt I'll go back for Vietnamese and this turned me off.

Special beef noodle soup. TO DIE FOR!

We usually go with the combination dinners which include wonton soup, spring rolls, chicken, fried rice, and two entrées. We went to eat in person this week, and the service was excellent. We went on a Thursday so the ambiance was quite quiet but it's a nice clean space with very friendly staff and the food is even better fresh from the kitchen. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the authentic Chinese food.

However, it can be a challenge to find a parking spot if people are attending church at the time you arrive. My family has been eating here for a few years and I even celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary here. Alex and the rest of the staff ensures all the customers are well taken care of. He had heart balloons and flowers for our table which made the occasion even more special. The food is fabulous, the peaches and shrimp dish is so good as well as the beef with Gai lan and the tofu assorted vegetable hot pot. Noodles and desserts are great as well! We have tried so many dishes here it is hard to name them all. This restaurant is also on SkipTheDishes and with my referral, my office has ordered on several occasions. Everyone was very happy with their lunch choices! Excellent food and service, prices are very reasonable and if this restaurant was closer to my home, we would be eating her all the time!

Huge change from the dark paint and warehouse styling from the previous AYCE sushi place. They have divided the space nicely including a large private room. It also helps that YEG's notorious Boyle St Co-op, formerly next door, has been raised to the ground, thus moving the hardcore zombies a few blocks north. You can actually park your vehicle safely in their free lot now, for up to 2 hours. Security is watching and even checks in with you when you park. As for the food, in my experience it's all been great! The menu is a funny combo of different cuisines, definitely befitting the name "bistro". There are a variety of asian dishes (Chinese, Japanese, Thai), HK-style foods and very traditional western cuisine like beef bourguignon. That one intrigues me, super old school and looks really good. There are also some set menus that come with drinks. It's one of the few places I feel spoiled for interesting selection, hard to make a choice. Chinatown Dining Week has brought me back here three times in as many weeks, got hooked by the beef and sour veg steamed in a lotus wrap. This visit my husband got the gyukatsu set, which was really good if you can live with slightly sweet Glico-style curry. The omurice was perfect. Their katsu particularly is really, really good, better than your average schnitzel, and much cheaper! Have been back a few times and even brought the extended family. There's something for everyone! Everything we've tried has been tasty, fresh and a generous portion. Previously we tried the bistro premium fried rice which had scallops and tobiko, delicious. My food-restricted niece tried the crispy shrimp appy, which were really tasty and more like prawn-size. Not sure she got many back after offering to share with the table. Ah Chinatown. Been coming here my whole life but always get the side-eye, usually from the owner, until ordering. The experience wouldn't be the same without it. The other staff were more genuinely friendly and happy the food was enjoyed. One01Bistro is officially a new family favourite, especially before events at Rogers Place. Psst also... cheap beer.

Also a great place to watch the Oiler playoffs if you are not interested in a noisy pub.

The only thing that I can say about the service was that the food was ready with pick up. We had the family dinner for 4 - Sweet and Sour Chicken, Crispy Ginger Beef, Mixed Vegetables w/Garlic, Spring Rolls (4) and Chicken fried Rice. The sweet and sour chicken batter was dry and the chicken inside was stringy. The crispy ginger beef was not crispy but chewy and lacked beef. Spring rolls had good flavour but spent a bit too much time in the fryer. The chicken fried rice was bland. The only dish that was good wsa the mixed vegetables with garlic. Perfectly cooked and very flavourful. Also they didn't send sauces. Next take out night i will take my business somewhere else.

We quickly grabbed a new set where multiple sets were ready for distribution when neccessary. As Asians, we generally wash all of our bowls and utensils prior using as our practice with hot water or tea (depending on what you ask for). Food - 4/5. The chicken casserole was flavourful, just a lot of bones. The beef was very soft and tender. The sweet and sour pork chops had a thick tangy sauce but good that it had a light batter around the meat, which kept the meat moist. The chicken is the typical dish you can get at most Chinese restaurants. It was interesting that it actually sat in a soy sauce base. The ginger sauce is missing the typical green onions. However, it was seasoned quite well. I didn't take a picture of dessert though. It was red bean with glutinous rice sweet soup. I actually quite enjoyed it. Overall: 3.5/5. It's an ok place to try if you are in the area. It's has free parking. Just be vigilent with the bowls and utensils.
