I was craving Mongolian grill type food like crazy last week and figured it's hard to mess up food like this since YOU pick your ingredients and sauces. The restaurant was busy (nice to see a local business actually busy on a Friday night), but they weren't keeping the bar stocked very well. We were able to get a decent amount of noodles for us, but the huge wave of people that showed up after us had to wait around or forgo noodles entirely because they didn't want to ask. The veggie selection was pretty nice - a good combination of things that looked fresh. The meats were poorly stocked and what was in the bins was pretty picked over looking (shards/slivers of meat, ice chunks, etc). I was extremely disappointed in the sauce selection. I'm a sauce girl and live for a delectable flavor fusion, but when your choices are hot sauce or mongolian sauce... *sigh* What I ended up being served was quite delicious, however. I took someone else's advice here on Yelp to load up on the sauce -- not the "1 scoop = yum" they have on their sauce rack -- and I left with a full belly. The price was cheap compared to other places I've been that does Mongolian style grill, but I felt a little cheated so the $10.99 a bowl wasn't completely well spent. I was on a mongolian bbq kick while visiting washington. Of the three places that I visited this one was by far the best. The sauces were spectacular. I mixed the recommended combination with an extra spoon of Asian sweet sauce and garlic sauce. There is also teriyaki sauce that you can add after they cook your meal to give it a more savory taste. I like to add this on the rice. The downside is that you only get one bowl but you would be surprised how much food can fit into one bowl. I like to add meat first and then press it down with my finger. Next I add a LOT of noodles and press it down again with the tongs. I add vegetables last and then fill any gaps with more meat or noodles. I certainly did not leave hungry. Highly recommend this place to anyone unless you want to eat a ton of food. The next best mongolian bbq in town is panda inn that offers all you can eat for those people. read more

For the one of the only wok places around its an alright place, usually empty so its weird to get food and eat it there when its so quiet, especially when its just you and the cook. Get it to go I recommend and get as much as possible lol, or as much as you can eat. fresh ingredients and they cook it very nicely. My family tried Wok on Fire for the first time last week. It was A-OK. No major complaints. I thought the food was very good. It was considerably smaller than most other Mongolian barbecues I've been to around the world, but still enjoyable. I still found plenty of ingredients to fill my bowl and hand to the guy at the grill. I very much appreciate that the hostess was able to tell me exactly what sauce had MSG in it so I could enjoy my dinner without a follow-on MSG headache. Service was fine. I really like this place !!! Stuff as much as I can to a plate, (it helps if you flatten the meat out to get more in there) for a one flat rate. Great variety to choose from, never seem to disappoint with the food. But during busy hours or really slow periods, this place can get pretty dirty, and the bathrooms are a lil rundown, and dirty also. read more

Cleanliness with a place like this is important. me and my family were the first ones in today and the floor was sticky, tables were greasy, and the meat trays had a slime,rag,ice buildup around them that would be days in the making. now the food, noodles super oily, meat frozen in huge rolls making it impossible to get much in the plate. the food was not segregated and I ended up with some of my wife's under cooked vegetables. I was not impressed and would not recommend eating there. over due for a health inspection. read more

Typical Mongolian grill kind of place, with a small, but tasty selection. Employees are kind and friendly. Sauces are good. They have a great kids-eat-free deal that makes life nice for families with kids! They get a smaller bowl and their dinner comes with a Capri Sun or similar drink. Perfect for lunch and even a casual dinner, Wok on Fire gives you the opportunity to make your own Mongolian BBQ style dish. Grab a bowl and load it full! Steer clear of the frozen veggies and get the fresh stuff. Also, I recommend not getting tofu unless you just love it. At lunch, they offer a one time go for $9 or unlimited for $10 so obviously we got all you can eat. All the sauces are fabulous so I can't speak to just one. It's nice to be able to pick exactly what you want and watch it cooked. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was there weren't a ton of options for veggies--definitely need more to get up to five stars. And they serve Pepsi...I'm totally a Coke girl. read more

I will say you should follow their recommendations for the juices to add to make it yummy because I have played "mad scientist " before and have regretted my choices, but that was my fault. Wok on Fire is a regular go-to place for me. The ingredients are always top notch fresh. The ingredient area is kept clean and picked up quickly after messy people have left their mark (mess) . The staff is always friendly and knows us and the cooks know how we like our food prepared. Excellent customer service. Last night with-in a half hour of closing, we stopped in for to-go meals. I noticed the jalapenos were almost empty and the staff went back into the food storage area and brought me some fresh peppers. Nice call. One of the few places left where you know exactly what your eating and the quality of that ingredient. When you use their recipe for flavorings, you can't go wrong. If you want something fancy, eat next store at the Japanese Steak House (which is good too), but if you want a no nonsense, very good meal to eat in or take home and enjoy watching a movie with, I highly recommend Wok on Fire. read more

This place sucks! It was dirty, the waitresses were all rude and all of the food was frozen none of it was fresh. I've been to some really good Mongolian style restaurants and this place couldn't hit sand if they fell off a camel. I personally don't know how the owner can even keep the lights on in this establishment. Every time I look inside nobody's in there. Great concept, you build your own noodle bowl and can get as much or as little of any item you choose. You add your own sauces and then it is cooked right in front of you. This whole idea is fabulous for my husband and me, as we are trying to eat more veggies & you can make a bowl full of them (instead of soggy meat at most places). The service was quick as we arrived just before the lunch rush - so I can't say much for when it is very busy. Look for a coupon in the Val-Pak before you go, we found one for buy one lunch get the second lunch free. SCORE! Even without the coupon, we see ourselves becoming regulars here! read more

Yes. So much yes. We go here about once a week or so. The food is awesome. One bowl can last me several meals. It's fun to try out new combinations. It's not a fancy restaurant, but we like it that way. The staff is great. I give it a "meh plus" -- a little better than the average Mongolian grill. Vegetable selection is a bit sparse but fresh. Meat was decent but no shrimp (maybe they had run out). Like other reviewers have said, the staff barely notices that you're there, but since the whole point is to design your own meal it's not a big deal. Dining area is open and well lit. I always take my friend and her kid here because it's reliable, affordable, and entertaining. The food is typical Mongolian Grill food. Nothing to write home about. You get to watch the person on the grill prepare the food. Kids actually like this. Keep this in mind if you've got a kid or two. They also have kiddy bowls, but the meals are so large my friend usually shares with her kid. There's an all-you-can eat option for the very adventurous. read more

I'm not sure why reviews here are lower than 5 stars - but, if you read, its mainly due to either the atmosphere, the workers attentiveness, or the sauce is average. My expectations when I go to this kind of place, is not for atmosphere, service, or blow your mind sauces - I'm going to eat great food, with a great price - and this place fits this 100%. You can put any type of vegetables, mix and match your meats, put on as much sauce as you like, ask for more rice, with a large glass to drink from. Plus, for about 2$ more, your meal can be ALL YOU CAN EAT! The food is great; the choices are plentiful; and the place fits right in to those who want to go and get some good food, with their level of portions. Its perfect; its quaint; and its clean. Whats the deal with the chefs cooking the noodles and vegetables separately from the meat and sauces, this blew my mind. A friend suggested we come here one afternoon. I love the mongolian grill type food and was excited to come and give this place a try. Overall, it was mediocre at best. Their tofu was not appetizing at all and I didn't even bother putting some in my bowl - which is a shame since I typically get a lot of that. The noodles were standard and the meats were ok, but seemed pretty tough when they cooked up. I roughly followed their sauce suggestions and found the food to be completely bland and lacking flavor. Maybe I would have done better had I just scooped a whole lot more sauce on. Their options for veggies seemed like they were smaller than many of the other mongolian grills I've been to. I'd eat here again to fulfill a craving, but it's definitely not going to be a regular place I eat. read more

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this place. I am always quick to give Mongolian grills the benefit of the doubt, but I was most displeased with the food. It had the typical setup of every other Mongolian joint, same food and all; however, the finished product was just just lacking. There was a soup appetizer served prior to the food being made that tasted like thick chicken broth instead of Egg Drop soup or whatever it was supposed to be. They advertised both domestic and imported beer, but only had Budweiser, Coors Light and MGD on hand--lame. Lastly, the service sucked. My date had to go get a to-go box herself after waiting far too long to be helped. I will never eat here again. The Mongolian spot at the Kitsap Mall is better, and up until this point, I held it in the same regard as I now hold Wok On Fire. read more

First off when we entered almost every table was filled with plates and cups. There was almost no bowls and there was no meat left. There was no seasoning, I found that to be odd. The waitress spent most of her free time on her phone, so that explained the dirty tables. I just didn't care for the atmosphere, service or cleanliness of this place. This review is for the Gig Harbor location since yelp is unable to locate it. When you think of Mongolian grill, one thinks of unlimited food for about $20. Well this one has a one (1) plate limit. For 11.99 a person.. they give you a whole 1/4 cup of their egg soup, and a pinch of salad. You are able to take your leftovers home, probably won't have any but that is a very nice option to have. The gentleman cooking the food was very clean, seemed friendly and smiled, both of the girls working looked like they were forced to be there. Half way through our meal more people came in and one of the girls came to help the gentleman at the grill with no hair net. First time I've seen a girl without a hair net cooking food. Probably a health violation but the people who's food she was preparing didn't mind so I guess it's just me. So the bill came to be $26.50 it was my wife and I so 11.99 + 11.99 = 23.98 but the rest is tax I'm assuming? So I left hungry probably going to stop by and grab a mcchiken or something Anyway, we will never be coming back to this establishment. Awful service, not worth my hard earned money. read more
