As a buffet a feel like it should be much more wide ranged. the chicken was supposed to be frozen but there were thawed pieces at the top of the pan. That's extremely dangerous to have that in the temperature danger zone. The vegetables were slightly undercooked and flavorless. The environment did not feel clean, there were fruit fly's on the windows I could see while I was eating.. I'm disgusted and immediately stopped eating. the food and service was awesome! We were greeted at the door and asked if we were first time or repeat customers. They invited us in, explained how it worked. We also got a quick brief from couple of regular customers. We loaded our bowls, they had nice selection of vegetables, noodles, and meats. We added our sauces and off to cooking tables. They cooked it very quickly, (suggest using the recommended sauces and portions for first timers). It was delicious, the only downside was the cooling was off or not working. But I'm working in the area for a few weeks and the one thing that Seattle/Bellevue does not have is an AYCE Mongolian restaurant. But I gave it a try and I came at least once a week for 4 weeks! What I like about Mongolian BBQ is that YOU choose your items and sauces. So if you don't like it, it's all on you! And service is friendly! As you walk in, just make your way to the buffet line and pick up your bowl. The first set of offerings are egg noodles, and veggies. They offer a lot more vegetables options than some places I've been to. I usually get spinach, broccoli, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and mushrooms. Then you can choose your meats: beef, pork, chicken and imitation crab. And lastly, the sauces - I really just get a ladle of everything. Then drop off your bowl to have them cook it on that ginormous cast iron griddle. Before you know it, your food is done! They add a scoop of rice if you want and there are other condiments available. I came here with my husband and we were pleased with the choices and that they had signs up on how they cook with their sauce unless you ask for it a different way. I really like this place. Been going here for about the last 8 years, and I think they just celebrated their 9th anniversary a couple of days ago. It's a typical Mongolian Style Buffet. You can order one bowl for under $9 or all-you-can-eat for just over $9. So it's a fair value. The vegetables look very fresh and there's a pretty wide range of choices. I tend to love spinach, onions, cilantro, baby corn when they have it, and cabbage. The meat choices are good also. You can get chicken, beef, or pork for lunch. I haven't checked to see if they have a tofu option but probably. It's not something on my personal menu. I think where they fall short a bit is on the sauces. They have several watered-down down sauces that you can add before you get to the grill. But my problem with the sauces is that the garlic in particular is like water with a couple of garlic flakes in it. I'm looking for some real garlic so when I dip my ladle in to it I want to get garlic chunks not flakes. But mostly you get water. The grill is a typical gril although sometimes I don't hear the sizzle so I'm not quite sure if it's hot enough. They will clean the grill for anyone who has particular allergies, specially seafood or gluten. Oh and speaking of gluten, they only have about three seasoning sauces that are gluten free. However they do allow individuals to bring their own spices because they understand allergies. I think that's pretty cool. I always ask them to cook mine until it's dry. Just don't like my meat and vegetables and a bunch of soupy mess. So I definitely go with the requested dry plate. It means it's over cooked a bit but that works for me. When they hand you your plate of food fresh off the grill they'll ask you if you want rice. I usually decline the rice cuz I don't like white rice. Asian people think I'm strange because I eat a lot of their food and I don't eat rice with it or otherwise. Anyway, back to my point also at the end of the line you can add sesame seeds, peanuts, jalapeno peppers, teriyaki sauce, and a few other things. I never leave the end of the line without adding peanuts, jalapenos, and sesame seeds. It just gives it the best crunch, heat, and general flavor. That's about the long and the short of it. This is certainly a typical Mongolian Grill with a decent amount of choices to put in your bowl, okay seasonings, and a fair price. I actually think that when I go there I'm eating healthy because it's all vegetables and very thinly sliced meats. But, I way over do it on the sauces especially the chili oil and the sesame oil. And I know that's not good for me especially in the amounts that I use. Nevertheless I definitely consume far more more vegetables than I eat generally so I do feel good about that. Went there for dinner a few days ago. Was surprised that the garlic, oyster sauce and other sauces were so thin. Diluted I'm sure to save money, but it was really off putting. Then I had to use the restroom which was so gross and neglected: fingerprints, dirt on the door, overflowing trash can. Then I made it to the table to eat and everything from the chairs, floor, wall, ceiling lighting was just so covered in dust and so dirty. I felt gross to be in there and eat the food.. also there weren't many people in there and I saw the staff just sitting around. Definitely have time to up keep the restaurant, but they choose to neglect it. A note to the owner, it would do so much to the ambiance to have the staff spend the day deep cleaning the restaurant. No one wants to sit down on sticky seats and wonder if the kitchen is neglected like the lobby. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time over the weekend after some friends invited us to meet them there. We read the reviews and so weren't expecting anything great, but decent. We weren't disappointed. Now, I cook a lot of Chinese food at home in my wok. It's a different style of cooking than this restaurant offers but the point is I know how to cook meats and veggies and how to infuse them with delicious, authentic flavors. So I can authoritatively state that the food at Wok On Fire is mediocre at best. The thinly sliced frozen meats they serve--beef, pork, chicken breast are cooked unseasoned. The beef and pork both have wide ribbons of fat so that when they're overcooked (which they were) they shrink down little more than chopped meat. I couldn't tell the difference in taste between the two. My wife had the chicken and since there was no fat ribbons there, the grilled meat continued to look like chicken and actually tasted like it. There are cooking oils that you can ladle onto your food before it's grilled. I tried the oyster sauce, garlic, and the house Mongolian BBQ, and couldn't discern any flavor from any of them. The veggies were also overcooked and mushy. The steamed white rice was gummy. One of the reviewers here mentioned that they incorrectly stir fry the food over the hot, round flat top with two metal spatulas instead of (what I'm told is) traditional wooden chopsticks. I don't care a whit about that. I cook Chinese food with a long metal spatula and eat it with wooden chopsticks. I just got the impression, rightfully or wrongfully, that the business plan is to keep the food decent enough, to please customers who don't like strong Asian flavors, and to keep the prices relatively inexpensive. For anyone who likes real Mongolian BBQ, I would look elsewhere. read more

They only have like 4 sauces to dip into your bowl for flavor. The cook at the grill does not allow the food to sit and take on the sauce flavor. Constantly moving it around the grill and squirting it with a brownish water that I did not ask for. Probaly a teriyaki flavor to keep it steaming. I don't like teriyaki. That kinda pissed me off not being asked first. The food had an odd taste so I threw it away. Sort of a bad meat taste. The server girl was short with service skills at best. YUM!! I found a coupon for Wok on Fire while looking for a lunch spot. It's hard to find a restaurant that has foods I can eat or will eat. I get such looks when I ask for substitutions and hate humming and ha-ing over what will cause me the least issues! So this was a terrific find!! We got to each choose our own ingredients and have it cooked the way we wanted. You can make your dish a bit bigger or smaller, as long as it fits in the bowl. Bo dishes were very tasty and healthier than so many other choices. I left feeling satisfied but not stuffed to the gills. We have found a repeat place for our trips to Silverdale. We have dined here many times in the past, the food is good and enjoy creating our own dish. The last time that we ate at this establishment I noticed the prices were were increased and when we went to pay our bill after dinner the cashier told me that they no longer honor the senior discount. She at 1st tried to pull one over acting like they never gave senior discount but when I told her we had gotten the discount many times before she admitted that it had gone away. I understand the increase in inflation but the discount is really kind of a big deal to me, many seniors on on a fixed income. I have also been annoyed that when I go back up for a 2nd serving, they never take away my used plate and never ever fill my glass of water it is always empty. It's not like they are too busy, there usually isn't many people in there and the hostess/waitress usually is standing around by the grill. We started going to work on fire because the other Mongolian grill 'Golden Grill' is a little bit pricier but now that wok on fire cost more, we'll probably just go back to the other place, they have more variety of ingredients for the grill like shrimp and scallops. I hope management reads this and learns from this, maybe some day they will value their customers more. read more

This is your typical Mongolian Grill where your pick and choose your meats and vegetables and hand it over to the chef guy who cooks your meals over a large round grill. TIP: get the meats FIRST and THEN get your vegetables/noodles and then get AT LEAST 3-5 scoops of whatever sauce you want (they recommend 1 scoop - that's great if you want bland food). This way you get more food to pack in and also the meats will marinate in the sauces below. Looking for a healthy lunch while stuck in Silverdale, Wok on Fire will do just fine. They do things a bit different here but it was a pleasant meal. Like most Mongolian grill places, you grab a bowl and work your way down the line of noodles and veggies then hand it to the grill "chef" who cooks it all on the large flat grill. The selection here is a bit slim compared to others I have been to. Only one type of noodle and a limited number of veggies but it did the trick for me. The one slick trick they have that I have never seen before was that they put the meat (pork, chicken, beef) at the end for you to add yourself but they are all frozen in a curled state so that you can't top your bulging bowl with too much without it all rolling off the top! I liked the sauces because they weren't packed with too much sugar like some places. Still, all in all, a good alternative to your standard fast food selections at a reasonable price. read more

I'm a big fan of mongolian grill so I made a special trip to town to check this out. My parents had been before and weren't fans, but I think they are too picky. I love that they have the option to do either do 1 bowl for 7.99$ or all you can eat for only 2$ more. I also appreciate that they have tofu as an option. Not as many food choices as some places, but still plenty. Its comparable to the other mongolian grill places in the area although not as great as my overall favorite. I'd defintely come again and likely will as I am not a fan of many of the local eating establishments. I hear coupons are often available making it even more reasonable.
