The food is superb. The service is friendly but can be a little haphazard, nothing to get upset about. You will be hearing about this tiny place. Update September 2017; I promised my Daughter we would go to Sasaki when she returned from Spain. On my third visit to Yu's restaurant the service was absolutely perfect. The food is still stunning but now the service is just as good. Quick but not rushed, friendly, smiling and knowledgable. I cannot overstate how beautiful and different Sasaki is.

Sasaki is the best in Sydney and offers a intimate/comfortable space for a very pleasant meal. I came here with my friend, after reading about it in some article about new establishments in Sydney. The place is quite hidden but is not bothered with the whole exclusionary aura of the upscale. The waiters are beyond professional/nice/warm and the menu was excellent. The notable yummy dishes were the egg custard, rice of the day and kingfish. The dessert needs work but is a solid 7/10. Will return.

A healthy portion (which they embarrassingly deem as 'large') is around $12 which makes popping in here quickly quite the pricey excursion. There is a seating area to wait for your order but that confused me more as it was the carbon copy of my hairdresser's waiting area with low black stools and a range of magazines to browse. I was expecting to be ushered into a back room for a treatment at any moment. I decided to shock them slightly and eat in, so I sat at the long black table provided not sure whether to smile at my neighbours who were wolfing down their lunch or just bury myself in a magazine. I went for the latter, always safer.. My chicken noodles were nice but lacked any excitement. I kept hoping to come across a sauce or a rookie vegetable which might spice things up but it was really rather bland and with no soy sauce on hand, there was nothing I could do about it but to follow suit and wolf my portion down. Don't think I'll be making a return trip!

On the popular strip of Booth Street in Annandale it's a great place to grab a curry, some noodles or a stir fry and whilst there are plenty of options to choose from, I always seem to fall into the Pork Hokkien noodles. And it always satisfies! It's not an overly big place but there's generally plenty of space to grab a seat inside and watch the controlled mayhem that seems to be always going on in the busy kitchen. I like this place and to be more precise, The Pork Hokkien noodles!
