Bitarchitects provided a prompt response, prompt call phone consultation & next steps. Within 1 week of contact I was able to discuss my concerns, the engineer completed a thorough walk through of my home & gave me ample amount of time view discuss my concerns. More importantly they didn't drag out the walkthrough for hours!! I appreciate the honest responses to help distinguish between normal settlement & items that are concerning. I'm waiting on the written report (inspection was completed one business day before writing this review) to proceed with the fixes. I strongly urge spending time & money on an inspection from a structural engineer before spending $$$$ for repairs that aren't needed. Prior to contacting I had 2 vendors try to sell me solutions for problems I didn't have. The price I paid for the inspection literally saved me $$,$$$. My selection of Bitarchitects was because they heard my initial concern, were quick to provide service, & provided communication from initial inquiry to the day of service.

Oooh! Editing to add photos of the text messages, that the junior assistant and I exchanged, in…read morewhich I alerted him that his approach was likely illegal (as I mention below, MULTIPLE opportunities given to him to walk it back) and which he took to mean I was threatening legal action. Eye roll. What a clown show. Well here's the update that I promised, unfortunately it's not in the direction I was hoping. I got an immediate response to my review below, with multiple requests to remove the review. I stated that I was open to updating or removing it, if things improved, and we ended up having a couple positive meetings. So much so that we elected to continue to work with them on the next phase of the project. So over the weekend (Sept 12-13), they sent us the contract for the next phase. We signed it and sent over the requested payment. I was hopeful! I was mentally drafting a positive update to this review! On Monday I received acknowledgement of receipt of the signed contract. Immediately following that, I got an email that said, and I quote "Before we can resume, please remove the Yelp review so we can start fresh and have a positive experience moving forward as we help you with your project." Guys, my jaw DROPPED. (My husband sent me a simultaneous "WHAT THE F***" text lol) Let me reiterate, we had signed the contract, sent the payment, and THEN received an email saying they wouldn't begin the work until a brand new condition had been met. We were completely floored. But okay, I thought, benefit of the doubt, the guy that sent that email has the position of junior assistant on the website, maybe he doesn't realize that what he's doing - withholding work that has been paid for unless we meet a new requirement that we never agreed to - constitutes a word that rhymes with shmextortion. So I responded that this requirement is unethical, inappropriate, and possibly a breach of contract. I gave him every opportunity to walk it back, and then reached out directly to the firm owner to verify that this was in fact the position that Bitarchitects was taking. The only response I got is that we can terminate the agreement, so that's what we did. To their credit, they processed the refund relatively quickly. So yeah, I don't know. I can only speak to my experience, of course. The other positive reviews indicate that other people have had better experiences with them. But this all does make me wonder if other reviews have been manipulated in a similar manner. So caveat emptor I guess. Because I fully expect they will respond and try to spin this in some way that makes me look like I'm the unreasonable one, I'm attaching screenshots of the actual email exchange (just the initial exchange, because the junior assistant started texting me after that email and it went on for a while, until I went back to email to contact the owner). Redacting names and email addresses as a professional courtesy.

We worked with ACG on a substantial renovation of a historic commercial building (b. 1910) in…read moreFrederick County, Maryland, in the City of Brunswick's historic downtown. Our plans for the building involved significant reorganization of the interior spaces, and because those plans involved a change of use for the building, we needed to do substantial work to bring the building up to current code for both ADA and life safety criteria. From the start, we knew we were going to need a professional firm's help on the design, code compliance, and permitting side of things, and ACG proved to be a skilled, reliable, and dedicated partner across our process. We worked closely with one of their Principal architects, Addison Nottingham, and he was both super accessible and professional to work with, and helped us problem-solve several key challenges we faced in bringing such an old building up to compliance with current standards. We would gladly work with ACG Architects again.

It was a modest project as far as home remodeling projects go, but Kurt still gave us his full and undivided attention, which meant a lot to us. He patiently answered and provided a quick response to our (many!) questions about the design and construction process, personally visited with us on multiple occasions to go over draft designs and flooring/roofing/coloring samples, and was extremely helpful in working with our structural engineer and construction contractor (since we had some foundation and drainage issues that were also being repaired). His design advice, based on his many years of experience, was superb, and he actually ended up saving us tens of thousands of dollars based on his input on our concurrent foundation/drainage project. Kurt is a true artist, and a really nice guy as well. He did an amazing job for us, and we can't wait to work with him again on our next remodeling project. Thank you, Kurt!

We contacted Synergy Design and Construction about a renovation for our home. After meeting with…read moreus, they asked if we were considering other contractors. We had dealt with another contractor in the past with good success. Synergy said "It sounds like one firm has done right by you. Why don't you see what they come back with, and we're happy to offer free advice." We sent the other contractor's proposal to them. They responded the next day with suggestions to improve the design. They also said "if you have seen their work and are comfortable with their quality, then you should go with them. It seems like a fair proposal." Unlike most contractors who bad-mouth the competition and will try to sell you on any job, Synergy genuinely cared about our results as a homeowner, first. We tried to shift the project to Synergy, and their owner said "I think the other guys earned your business. Please consider us for the next one." WOW! This is the kind of company you want to work with!"

It's difficult to express, in as few words as possible, our satisfaction with their product as there are too many factors involved in a major construction to be able to include them all. I will touch on the major points. Mark and Mina and their team became like members of our extended family; they talked with us and asked questions to uncover the aspects of the house that could be changed to make our home one where we would use the space, inside and out, to the greatest extent possible. The team examined every inch of the house, in order to discover it's potential and to avoid problems. We learned quickly that we could trust them completely, their diligence and attention to every detail allowed us to leave the job to the team, which we did. They delivered a design that was, frankly, beyond what we could have imagined. Their architect, Tom, is a hidden gem with significant talent and skill. He monitored the entire construction for oversight and to maintain the integrity of his design. The quality of the construction is superior, the carpenters are highly skilled. The people who work for Mark and Mina are some of the nicest people I've ever met which made working with these creative, helpful, skilled people a pleasure, it was never a burden. We were greatly blessed by the work of the hands of this company and it is my hope you will consider using them for your project. If I had another project, I would not hesitate to pick up the phone and call Mark. If I have a problem with the project they've completed, I know they will respond graciously and quickly. Knowing well that construction was going to be disruptive to our daily lives, we weren't sold on hiring the other companies. I had seen Sun Design ads for years, but they had never remodeled in our neighborhood. When I researched them,I found very few complaints and very satisfied homeowners.
