Drained and replaced my coolant with a better-quality solution, repositioned my NVMe drive to ensure it was running at proper speeds, and even went the extra mile by installing a GPU backplate that completely elevated the look of the build. The system not only performs better now but it also looks exceptional. He even went out of his way to fix the cable management which was a mess and made it perfect. But that's…read moreabout the only nice thing I can say here because I have very strong suspicions that I was almost taken advantage of when I saw the cost estimate. I was quoted an estimated $540.66 to upgrade my laptop's RAM and SSD. While I am fully aware that computer part prices have skyrocketed because of AI, charging $179 for a stick of 16GB DDR4 RAM and $176.66 for a 512GB SSD is pretty extreme. The only thing that is reasonable is the labor fees since a Micro Center store would charge about the same for a RAM upgrade and changing out an SSD. However, the cost estimate costing more than what my device costs seems predatory. I would have just bought a new computer for $540. I took my device to another shop called Wizfix Computers to get another quote, and the owner of WizFix said that $540 for the same upgrades is a gross overcharge. I was only charged $345 at WizFix ($225 for the same parts plus tax, $120 for labor). And as a bonus, the OS was upgraded to Windows 11. Device has been running well after the upgrades. I would have been overcharged nearly $200 if I chose Ross Tech. Trying to take advantage of someone like this to make extra money is very unethical and bad business.
