    Part of the Ornament Room

I have been coming to Wit's End for years - the place has really evolved over time - originally it was just your average gift shop, but now they have transformed into a very high-end gift shop. The store is broken up into different rooms/sections, there is the card section filled with many different handmade cards; there is the jewelry section with various designers like Pandora, Kendra Scott, Swarovski, and even some costume jewelry, etc.; another room has designer clothes, shoes and handbags - there are entire Vera Bradley, Brighton, and Jack Rogers sections among those; to finish out the first floor there is an area with candles, different serving dips / sauces, and chocolates. The second floor has more of the home decorations and they always rotate for each season, well besides the Christmas Ornament room - I believe that is up year round and is filled with all the collectible ornaments you could ever want. Additionally upstairs there is a children's toy section, a pet section, a celebration section, a sign section and more. Finally in the "basement" there are more decorations and then a wine / serving section with many different glasses and plates and crystal. Basically this place has it all - if you are ever in need of a gift (and willing to spend a little more money) then this is the place for you. I love going back to NY and coming here during the holiday season as the place is decorated top to bottom so fantastically. And the pieces you find here you won't be able to find any place else in the Capital Region. Rating on the Morgan Scale: Overall Experience: 10/10 Food Price: 6/10 (based on the dips / chocolates) Drink Price: N/A

Um, how have I never been here before? When I drove up to it, it reminded me of a theme park with the grand display of ginormous nutcrackers and other festivities of the season. There are so many twists and turns throughout I'm afraid I may have missed something. Jewelry and candy and candles and loads of Christmas bulbs and unique pieces for the home to clothing and the list just goes on and on. What a beautiful store! I read the comments about the staff. I noticed a lot of staff being helpful and attentive. I didn't find them stalkerish at all. In fact they were friendly and helpful and available and worked great as a team upon checkout. I bought a lot of stuff and they put my purchases in nice boxes and bagged everything up neatly. I love this place! I can't wait to go again.

    Be sure to look up!

This was my first visit to Wit's End and it definitely met my retail therapy need! So many rooms to visit and filled with whimsy. The ladies who work there were all so friendly and encouraged me to come back when the store is decked out for the holidays and the trees are lit up with lights. I'll be back!!

Nice stock poor customer service. People were too busy stocking to assist us and when we asked they were snotty. We will not be back.

I would imagine shoplifting could be an issue in a store set up like this.

CAPTAIN's Treasures is a next-to-new shop that provides gently-used, quality clothing and home goods at great savings for families - all while supporting kids, families, and seniors in the community through CAPTAIN CHS's over 30 programs and services. I look for vintage items and I've found some of the most unique finds there. One time I found some cow dolls with frilly dresses on and I made a video of them dancing. It was a hit! You never know what you might find at Captain's Treasures. I have found Pyrex mixing bowls in the Americana design. I'm saving them for my daughter. I think the reason why I never reviewed the place before is because I'm afraid that everyone will find out about it! It's too late..the people I see shopping there love it also. Thanks Captain's!

This store has seen better days…read more Years and years (and years) ago, this was one of my go-to stores for many items, chief among these were men's clothing and housewares. But the "feel" in some of these areas has gone downhill; a few times while I was walking around, I had to remind myself I wasn't in Marshall's. But the experience here is not all bad. Their curtain selection still remains among the best anywhere I've shopped, and they continue to be my go-to store at least for those. I suppose you could call all the cracks in the floor tiles "artistic," but I expect it's too much of an expense to repair those. Unlike some of the chains considered more of a bargain, the shelves here were always well stocked and in order. The problem in many cases is that a lot of items just are not competitive in price, and it's less incentive for the customer to have to go online to obtain a coupon for a discount, as per signs on many shelves throughout the store. I'm glad this store is still open, because I do want to consider it as an option. But... for how much longer??

This is the second time we've come into this store to get family and children photos done. The…read morefirst time we came in, there were two photographers in the same room, one of which seemed to have experience, and the other did not. You can guess which one we had. (I should preface that I used to work for a photography studio, so I DO have some credentials here). This was not a time to be training someone, when a family of 3 with one very young child comes in, during a busy day right before a holiday. Neither of the photographers had any idea what to do in terms of ideas, or props, or any way to get our daughter to smile. Very limited in terms of how many shots you get, regardless of whether the pictures would have great or not. I counted at least a dozen photos that would have been fantastic, IF the photographer had not had the camera face down in her lap. Today, we went in, hoping that maybe things would be different on a quiet day, and now our family has grown to 2 children, but essentially the same thing happened. Except we had 1 photographer in the room, which is fine, but the same issues applied. No attempt to bring props out for them, or any real posing ideas when one didn't work. I understand that when its just the kids, we as parents are free to help get them to smile or laugh, but i'm still unsure how to do that while being IN the photo. Afterwards, felt very pressured to sign up for the jcpenny photos membership. The sitting fee is also ridiculous. $20/person regardless of age or whether we got photos. It seems that there is minimal effort put in when they know they have your money just for showing up. Will be going to iSmile or a similar place in the future, where there are no sitting fees, (and because of that, the photographers seem to WANT to get good photos for you, since that's how the business makes money), and anytime we've walked by, everyone seems trained on how to take photos of kids. i.e. HAVE THE CAMERA READY AT ALL TIMES TO TAKE A PICTURE, SINCE KIDS ARE UNPREDICTABLE.
