My mechanic who is a family friend told me that my car's engine and transmission had been leaking…read moreoil and it was a matter of time before it was going to fail on me. It was due to old age (239000 miles). Too bad he doesnt do engine swaps. Fortunately, I have a coworker who has a husband that owns a shop and was told that he just recently swap a engine with a low mileage jdm motor. Chris called me that same night and we went over the details on the work that needed to be done on the car. He was very informative and he went step by step with me about the engine swapping process. He even told me that he would pick up the engine and transmission in NJ for a cheap fee. I decided that Chris was the right guy for the job and told him that I would give him the car in three weeks to work on. When I arrived at the shop, I told Chris that I had other issues with the car. He told me that he will look into it but his main focus was to replace the motor and transmission first. During the time he was working on my car, he kept in constant contact with me. He would let me know what he was doing and if there was something that needed to be replaced, he would call me first for permission before buying the replacement part. Chris also sent me picture and videos while my car was being worked on. One of other issues that I had address to Chris was that my heater was only give me luke warm air at best. I had thought that my heater core was clogged and that it needed to be replaced. Turns out, Chris found that it was just my heater control valve that was broken and prevented the coolant to go into my heater core. For people that dont know about heater cores, it would cost 800 to 1500 dollars for the heater core to be replaced. By finding out that it was just the heater control valve, Chris saved me a boat load of money. About a week and half later, Chris finally finished the job and he delivered my car in front of the house. He even gave my car a wash and even detailed my car. I test drove the car with Chris sitting on the passenger side and was surprised how much power I had on the new engine. Transmssion was shifting flawlessly. Chris also installed a dedicated transmission oil cooler and filter to prolong the life of the transmission. I had told Chris that day he delivered my car that I was going on a trip to upstate for the memorial day weekend. He told me that if I have any issues to call him immediately. I didn't have to call him because my car worked perfectly. In fact, Chris texted me asking how my car was doing and I forgot to text him back. (Sorry Chris). I highly recommend Chris to anyone. Not only that he does excellent work, he genuinely cares about his customers. Other than my family friend, Chris would be the only one I would trust my car with. Thank you Chris!!!

Once I said I'll buy it and immediately filled out a credit app and was approved....everything stopped from there. Approved for car finance the same day, was requested to purchase insurance which was done the next day. Didn't hear back from anyone for a couple days. Questions about logistics were left unanswered. Agreed to purchase, but only way they were willing to sell the car was if i financed it (even though I said I wanted to pay off). took 8 days to get a contract done. Had to push to get Notary out for setup and signing. Had to call to confirm receipt. Had to ask if I was getting any copies of what I had signed. Had to call to confirm receipt of the documents. Felt like I had to push every stage of the purchase. Gave me contact to auto transport (which i arranged for pickup). Didn't notify me car was picked up or handed off. I have purchased over 30 cars (some with $500k msrps) and never experienced anything like this. No follow up post sale other than "we need you to get VIN verified before we can register your car" Not to mention auto transport mentioned some shady things at pickup. Car also came with damage greater than normal wear and tear, a very distinct odor (which they confirmed was clear of any odors/smells/damage). There were 3 deep scratches ~8 inches long pretty visible on the bumper/door, but salesman said it's a very clean car and doesn't see anything visually wrong with it. Shame on me for taking the word of a Salesman. Just thought I'd expect more from a Ferrari/Bentley dealership. Lesson learned.

Unfortunately, there was a major defect that was a health hazard so I started a buy back. The service dept Manager was really nice but was difficult for him to really go above and beyond. After months and months and phone calls and calls to the dealership and corporate. To be forgotten about. I got my measly buy back. I had all intentions to re-lease with vw in SI because I enjoy the cars and the dealership is on the island. I also thought " maybe the car i had was just a lemon". So when I started dealing with the Male sales manager for my re-lease of my buy back .I was surprised how he was so disgustingly aggressive, condescending, unprofessional and extremely disrespectful! He demanded I use all the money I receive for the new lease and he was counting every cent. Which I have the convo on recording. He was extremely difficult to deal with and I decided it just was not worth it. he didn't deserve my business. The day I was suppose to get my check and give back my loaner I ended up waking up to a flat tire. So I had to call road side. The gentleman came to switch the tire and he was puzzled how the tire deflated because there was nothing wrong with it. No screws, or holes or bend in the rim. I went to the dealership met with the service manager and he seemed angry and tense. He was upset I wasn't re-leasing with the dealership and also I got a flat. he told me I would have to pay For the tire then in the same sentence he told me I shouldn't worry about anything. I found this so grossly unprofessional and wanted out of this uncomfortable situation as quickly as possible. I left and went car shopping elsewhere. I'm so devastated how I was treated here. This is not a family run business. It's a corporation and emotions are not suppose to be involved in a professional business. I called today 5 months later bc I did end up with another vw and needed service. Thought maybe I would be able to stop by. Not only was I hung up twice. The manager in service picked up when my friend called and when we gave a different name. When I said it was me he told me I was at fault for a large gash in the loaner tire and I owe him 250 dollars. I have documentation stating otherwise that there was nothing wrong with the tire. he also told me he basically has a grudge and I wasn't welcome at his vw dealership in Staten Island ! If you are looking to buy a car I would really think twice on this dealership.
