I only gave 4 stars due to the lousy, noisy, raunchy bar flies. They couldn't care less about other customers as they were shouting and cussing away. Having a conversation with my husband was impossible. The bartender, who was 5 stars in her service to us, attempted to remind these people to stop yelling. I understand being a local, as I am one, and it makes me want to keep my favorite places in business. However, disruptive and rude bar flies should be shut out ff earlier and asked to leave or at the very least pipe down. Ultimately, I highly recommend anyone local or out of town to try The Tin Whistle for the food and service. Maybe try one of the tall comfy wooden booths would make for a better atmosphere.

After walking by earlier, we decided on the Shanty for dinner. We ordered some of the fried cheese curds for an appetizer with a couple drinks and each got the lobster roll. Our server was great and the restaurant was busy but not packed so it felt nice and relaxed for our meal. The lobster roll is listed at market price so make sure you take note of that when you order. All Souls Lounge in Salem was the perfect sanctuary. It's a small, intimate spot that fills up fast, if you don't get there early, you'll be left haunting the sidewalk waiting for a table. Luckily, they offer outdoor seating, which was great for cooling off after spending two hours surrounded by ceremonial candles. The service was remarkably fast for a packed house. The cocktails were delicious and flavorful, though if you're looking to banish your inner demons in one sip, note that they aren't the absolute strongest in town. What really stole the show, however, was the food menu: they have a massive selection of gourmet grilled cheeses and hot dogs. Speaking of which: after finishing my meal, I went home inspired to attempt another quick ritual. I was trying to summon an ancient Hot Dog Spirit to bless my midnight snack cravings, but I mangled the Latin incantation and accidentally conjured a Grilled Cheese Ghost instead. Now my apartment smells like toasted sourdough, and there is a glowing ectoplasmic slice of melted cheddar hovering over my couch. Stopped by Witchside Tavern during my visit to Salem, and it did not disappoint! I had the pesto chicken sandwich, which was absolutely amazing--perfectly balanced flavors and so satisfying. The ladies sitting next to me at the bar convinced me to try the margarita flight . Let me tell you, it was dangerous but totally worth it! The vibes here were unmatched--fun music, a cozy but lively atmosphere, and just the right amount of witchy charm. The service was also top-notch; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made me feel right at home. If you're in Salem, this is a must-visit spot. Just be prepared: those margaritas will sneak up on you (in the best way)! read more

Witch Side Tavern is an absolute gem in Salem! I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the Country Breakfast along with a sausage, egg, and cheese, and both were incredible. The food came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor--the kind of hearty, comforting meal you hope for in a cozy spot like this. The sausage had that perfect savory kick, the eggs were cooked just right, and the biscuits were melt-in-your-mouth good. The staff was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Whether you're a local or just visiting Salem, this place is a must for a delicious breakfast and a warm, welcoming vibe. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I visited the Witcheside Tavern in Salem, MA, and was impressed from start to finish. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the drinks offered a unique and delightful twist. My server, Taisha, went above and beyond--when I mentioned I was having acid reflux and asked for bread, she thoughtfully brought me a special mix of ginger ale and bitters from the bar to help my stomach situation. After trying it, I felt much better. The entire staff was incredibly attentive and warmly friendly, making the experience all the more memorable. Taisha from the start had a beautiful friendly demeanor and checked on us periodically. read more
