Designed in 1971, its pathways are reminiscent of historic roads, and the fountains and landscaping add to its charming appeal. Luckily our B&B was closed by, we left our parked vehicle with an easy few-minute walk. One can find everything from local crafts and souvenirs to delicious eateries here. Even though there were many people, it did not feel crowded at all. The workers do an outstanding job keeping this area clean and the seasonal decorations beautiful and watered. A nice place to shop at any time of year.

We actually went in because my husband was curious. I almost didn't go in but I am so glad I did! Across the Way has lots of unique gifty items. I left with some cool things like a zipper pouch with a gnome on it, a tin that looks like a legit 1980s mixed tape and a Calico cat notepad. I also had fun looking at socks, books, cards, jewelry, candles and such. A lot of gift stores carry the same brands but I can tell that Across the Way has worked hard to differentiate their merchandise. Great stuff!

The lady working in the back near the children's section was pretty helpful when I needed to figure out what size and even offered to let us try on the shirt. Plus, when we made our purchase the nice cashier (another lady) gave my daughter a "free" shark tattoo which she loved. CONS: There was a male staffer lingering around the entrance and he seemed to be eyeing everyone that came in (possibly to assess the shoplifting threat?). He was not very subtle about it and was still there watching when we were leaving. More annoying, there were signs posted everywhere that you are not allowed to take cell phones pictures of any of the merchandise. If I am making a purchase or even just contemplating one, that is just ridiculous. Especially since a lot of their "clever" t-shirt slogans are pictured on the store's website. I am one of those laid back shoppers that likes to browse in peace until I need help, yet between the door watcher and the rule signs, I just wanted to get in and out.
