When his family retrieved him, he glared at them the whole ride back, seemingly furious they cut his vacation short. If you are looking for qualified, loving boarding for your small animal, you can't do any better than here.

I was really excited to hear about this rescue, but I cannot recommend them at all. Chad and…read moreMiranda are backyard breeders disguised as a "rescue" who care more about looking like "experts" than they do about the well-being of the animals in their care. They frequently take surrendered chinchillas and "enter them into their breeding program" without any genetic history on the animal, for the purpose of selling baby chinchillas that could carry significant health issues & defects. As for the animals in their rescue, they do not research correct care, and often provide their animals with inadequate and even dangerous setups and products. When corrected or informed that something is unsafe, they brush it off or ignore the correction, and continue spreading dangerous misinformation to potential adopters. They will also sell donated unsafe products to potential adopters, if they don't want to use them themselves. When asked a care question they do not know the answer to, they make a guess and present it as fact, rather than actually look it up. They also neglect to ensure their animals are going to safe, loving homes; the questions about care are limited, and they basically allow adoptions to anyone who "promises" to care for the animal, no background check necessary. They will also happily misrepresent the animal's health, temperament, or needs to a potential adopter, if it means that person will take the animal off their hands. This is just the tip of the iceberg; I've talked to many other people who have had negative experiences and stories from this rescue. If you're looking for a good small animal rescue nearby that really cares for their animals, I would direct you to Hoppy Haven or Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary. They are more professional, more transparent, and so much better equipped to answer your care questions.

**Beware if you plan to use Kruger Animal Hospital in Bloomington, IL.**…read more In July 2024, while I was an active client, **a vet tech at this clinic filed a completely false report** to animal control claiming I was neglecting my animals *and* children. For the record, I do **not have any children** in my home, and at the time I had already spent **over $5,000 in emergency care the very same day**, all under the guidance of the attending veterinarian. After a full investigation by local animal control and the state Attorney General's office, I was **completely cleared** of any wrongdoing. Despite this, that vet tech and at least two other staff members -- another technician and a receptionist -- **continued to publicly defame me online**, openly stating they worked for Kruger Animal Hospital. Their posts have caused ongoing emotional and financial harm. I brought all of this directly to the clinic's **HR manager**, but was told there was "nothing they could do," and no meaningful action was taken. As a client who spent **over $90,000 last year** (including significant payments to this very clinic) trying to save my cats from an unknown illness, I found this response deeply disappointing and unprofessional. Under Illinois law, veterinary staff must keep client information confidential unless very specific legal exceptions apply -- none of which were relevant here. Unfortunately, that standard was not upheld in my case. I believe clients have a right to know if staff might misuse private information or make false reports without cause. I sincerely hope Kruger Animal Hospital reviews its policies, takes accountability, and protects future clients from similar treatment by terminating these employees If you choose to bring your animals here, please **be cautious and ask how your confidentiality will be protected.**

I have an extra large yard with a beautiful 6-ft privacy fence. Immediately, the administrator told me I was lying and I didn't have a fence. She was looking at old mapping that was on the internet. When I bought my house. I put the fence up immediately for my dogs. I ended up sending her the invoice voice from when I purchased and installed the fence. Then she came up with another untruth saying that I was bad-mouthing the shelty rescue on Facebook. What had happened was she got this little dog in and she told me I was approved for the adoption and I was ready to pick her up when then she decided to spring it on me that the dog was heartworm positive. I had never had a heartworm positive dog so I asked my Facebook friends, many of them who were Sheltie owners, what I needed to know about taking in a heartworm positive dog. The administrator had a fit and said that I was bad mouthing her which I never did. She pulled the plug on my adoption for no reason whatsoever after I had made plans to receive this pup the next day. It was very sad because the little dog needed a good home and I provide such an excellent home for my shelties. And will never deal with Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue again... Unless they have a different administrator. So sad when she had no reason to do any of this.

To Whom It May Concern (and yes, I'd send this straight to upper management):…read more Let's talk about what went down at your Bloomington, IL PetSmart on June 11, 2025 at 1:00 PM, because wow -- what a disaster. I walked in, un-greeted and unnoticed. I headed to the aquatics section for five comet goldfish. One associate was helping two ladies, so I figured he'd circle back. Spoiler alert: he did not. I waited around, browsed nearby accessories, gave all the polite "I-need-help" body language -- and nothing. No staff in sight. Turns out, you now expect customers to scan a QR code to get help. Cute in theory, but not obvious at all. No sign, no heads-up -- nothing. I'm 38, I've been keeping fish since I could reach the tank, and never once have I needed to scan a code to ask for help. It's giving tech gimmick instead of customer service. After a solid 15 minutes of being ignored, I helped myself. I bagged the fish. No one noticed -- well, except another poor soul also lingering for help. I could've walked right out and no one would've known. That's how invisible customers are in your store. Then I head to checkout. There's a line four people deep, one sluggish cashier, and suddenly staff start magically appearing when the line gets long. A woman (shoulder-length brown hair, light blue eyes -- I assume the manager on duty) finally offers to ring me out. I explain that no one ever helped me, so I got the fish myself. Her response? Not concern, not an apology -- just attitude. She lectured me about the QR code, like I was supposed to be a mind reader, and tried to make me look stupid in front of the entire line. Newsflash: the only thing more embarrassing than being scolded for helping myself is the fact that I had to because no one was doing their job. Let me be clear -- I've worked in customer service for two decades. I know retail. I know what it looks like when employees hide in the back and leave the floor empty. I also know rule #1 is don't embarrass your customers -- especially the ones who are still trying to give you their money. The one bright spot? Your tall Hispanic associate -- he's always been kind and attentive. And the grooming team? Fantastic. But this manager's behavior? It soured the whole thing. One rotten attitude, and I'm done. So here we are. Feel free to check the cameras -- I was 6'5", wearing a purple shirt, black shorts, and a hat. You'll see exactly what I described. I'm not making this up. I just expected basic service. What I got was a masterclass in how not to run a store. Congrats, PetSmart. You've lost a loyal customer. Catch me at Petco from now on -- where the pets (and customers) actually get treated right. Sincerely, Andrew (Formally yours, now Petco's problem)

I didn't want to argue with them about it. Honestly it was going to my 50 gallon, just wasn't set up yet. She made me feel like I didn't know anything about fish. Very rude. I bought my fish from a different store that gave me no hassle.
