I can't recommend this guy enough! My elderly mom had a set of wires basically disintegrate and PG&E had to shut off her power. This occured on a friday evening. I found Dave's number, and he responded first thing the next morning ( a Saturday!) He replaced the wiring and the fuses which were the wrong ones and would have never actually prevented a fire. I've read some of the other reviews on here, but can only relate our experience. We were told by PG&E that we needed a weather cap and new wiring done, that the exterior wiring we had would fail in the next storm. We asked around, and friends who had used the service highly recommended Wire Works. We made an appointment, and Dave arrived on time. He cut away the rusty wiring, and reconnected the power lines. He then installed a new weather cap, which he happened to have in his work truck. Everything works perfectly, and there is no more power flickering. Wire Works came to the rescue. My brother's house was experiencing low voltage, flickering lights and appliances not working. Where do I begin. Set work up with Dave of Wire Works to meet on a specified date to install electrical for an incoming sump pump system. There were a number of smaller electrical matters needed by my tenants which provided a good opportunity to have Dave out to (1) take care of those electrical needs (outlet repairs, loose wires, etc) and (2) see the site where a dedicated outlet would need to be installed. He came out for the miscellaneous stuff, took forever, talked too much, did not wear his much needed glasses and shocked himself numerous times. He left panels open and nothing worked properly. Flip one switch and lights in another room came on, etc. Worse yet, after a few weeks, all his work had to be redone by a competent electrician that was appalled by his piss-poor work. Before realizing how badly his work was, we still had our long prearranged meeting for the sump pump, where he was to meet with that contractor and coordinate exactly where and what to do electrically. Simply, he was a no show. Later that day, the day he was scheduled for well in advance and assured me he'd be there, I received this email from him (verbatim): "Hi Alice this is Dave from my works I do take my girlfriend to get a eye surgery today in Redwood City" I wrote, "Your services are no longer needed." He responded, "Okay sorry this was an important procedure and I had to drive her I would have been able to do it tomorrow but if you got somebody else that's fine too" I have had to pay another electrician to repair and redo all of Dave Demarco's mess. So surprised at the turn of events... After Dave did such a great job earlier this year, I called him back to change out some antiquated two-prong plugs to three-prong plugs. He quoted a great price ($25 each) for what would be less than ten minutes work for him. He came and flipped out the plugs as described, but I was the one left to clean up the mess he made on the floor. I guess since it WAS a rush job, he didn't have time to clean up after himself. A week or so later, I realized that one of the plugs did not work at all so I phoned him to come and fix it. He at least answered the phone, but told me he was vacationing in Cabo and to call him a week or two later. So I did and had to call several times. He finally returned the call, asked again where I lived, and then hung up. Silly me, I took that to mean he was on his way over. Four hours later, I texted him and the following exchange occurred: Me: Are you coming today? Dave: Not tonight Me: not pleased that you indicated when were on the phone at 1:00 that you were on your way over. I've been here all afternoon, waiting. Dave: That's not true. I never said I was coming down that way. I was working in Daly City. This is the plug that's in the office we talked about but I did not say I was coming down today. Me: Then when will you be able to come and fix your work? Dave: Tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. Or, if you want, earlier. I drop my girlfriend off at the airport and am back in Pacifica at 4:30 a.m. Me: Never mind. I'll find someone more responsible and reasonable to fix your work. Dave: -Laughing/Crying Emoji- You can't get it for cheaper. I gave you a ridiculously low price and it wasn't costing anything for me to fix it but please do go play someone else. Well, I would rather pay someone else than deal with such a passive-aggressive contractor. Lastly, for the record about others who cited Dave not having a license, I did take a look at the record and it seems he has been cited for operating without a license on September 16, 2016. He probably got his act in order to get the license renewed and then have Eileen M. provide a 4-star review to explain he does have a license. (His girlfriend? Interesting that she has written no other reviews for Yelp and that her review is dated November, 2017, after the review stating he had no license...) I called Dave from Wire Works and I explained to him that I needed a very small job done. He came over and I was very impressed with his service. Here are the reasons: 1. He came by about an hour and a half after I made the call and completed the job. I told him it wasn't an emergency, but I sure appreciate the quick response. It is usually like pulling teeth to get someone come do some work here (any type of work) 2. His prices are VERY, VERY reasonable. I was expecting to pay about twice as much 3. The only word that one can say, since he never showed up to perform the actual work, is Flake. He went on vacation on two occasions within a three week period while he should have been performing the open ended (from a dollar stand point), time and materiel job. Dave comes off as an affable, nice person (and probably is) but buyer beware, from a business standpoint. Dave quite possibly does great work. I wouldn't know, because -- for the last few months -- it's been impossible to actually get him to do the job that we agreed he would do. He first surveyed my house a few months ago and we agreed on a small job pulling an ethernet cable from my living room to my den, a $200 job. He agreed to come over one day; I took the day off and waited for him. He ran into some sort of PG&E emergency and ended up canceling on me. 2-3 weeks before Christmas, he said he could do the job and would call me back; he never did. When I called him, he said he was busy shopping with his girlfriend and would call me back the day after; he never did. Last week, he agreed to come over and look again at the job. At about 4:30PM, I called him after he postponed a few times during the day and, hearing that I was annoyed, he actually came over, looked it over, and we agreed we would do the work today. So today, I called him at 10AM to see if I could go to Costco before he comes over; he said he was on a job and would be over later in the afternoon. I just talked with him (at 2:20PM), and he now said that he was going to be at the current jobsite until nightfall, but could definitely do the work tomorrow. Dave's "definitely" leaves something to be desired. Those of us lucky mortals who were fortunate enough to be blessed with his work clearly were unusual, and -- again -- I don't mean to in any way cast aspersions on the technical quality of his work. It sounds like PG&E recommends him for high-stakes contracts, and I suspect that it may be part of his relationship with PG&E that he drops non-PG&E referrals. I don't know, and, frankly, no longer care. I'll see if someone else wants to actually be here when they say they will and do the work they agree to do. Because Dave's not that guy. read more

What can I say about Dave that hasn't been Yelped already. This dude has an electrifying personality and the guy knows what he is talking about. I like to consider myself a renaissance man of sorts but it fills my pants with electrons when I think of working with electricity. There are 3 things I'm afraid of --sharks, a world without football and electricity. So when both my ceiling & bathroom fans completely gave out and needed to be replaced/reinstalled, I thought at first "I can do this" and then I watched one of the Final Destination movies and then I thought "I can call someone to do this". Some of the quotes I got were out of this world. It would've been much cheaper for me to get a well fitted full rubber body suit custom made and just risk doing it myself. Oh Lord what am I going to do?! If you YELP him --he will come! That's exactly what I did and I found Dave. Not only did this guy do a shockingly (...get it!) great job but he was much more fiscally appealing to Senor wallet. As always, Dave from Wire Works in Pacifica and his assistant Nick came to the rescue and did a superb job. My recessed lights popped and stop working. Dave came in and within 2 minutes diagnosed the problem and had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. Dave also gave me a very reasonable quote for changing my very old electrical panel, which will need to be changed once we start some remodeling in our 1960's house. When we moved into our new house we had Dave ground all of our outlets, install bathroom fans, vent the kitchen fan, and run rg6 and cat6 to every room. His work on the rewiring and basic installation tasks was fast, excellent, and very well priced. Where he really stood out was in helping me design and install our networking and video. Dave is the Man! The electric service panel for my house was very old (30 years or more) some of my circuits were not working. When Dave came to do the estimate he was able to correct the immediate problem - No Charge - which held me over while I got two more estimates. He described the process for upgrading the service panel with significant details to make me feel comfortable. On the day we decided to do the upgrade Dave and his assistant Nick completed the project in about 2 hours. They also supplied me with a temporary power that allowed me to continue to do my work while they did theirs. The final price was exactly what Dave had originally estimated. Dave is a nice guy and a good local Pacifica electrician (good with pets in the house). His scheduling was a little off at times, but he got the job done. My furnace went out and I called Dave. He helped me troubleshoot some simple stuff over the phone (breakers, etc.) before he came over to look at the furnace motor. Dave pulled the motor and came back the following day with a replacement motor. Now the furnace is working great. $350 was the cost to remove and replace the motor. read more

As other reviewers have pointed out, Dave is pretty flaky. He worked on a project with me that was going to take a week, but dragged on much longer. Three days in a row he said he would come by but did not, even after confirming on the phone in the morning. He is very friendly and enjoys chatting. He even had a few good ideas for improving the kitchen. He just isn't very prompt. If you have a small project, using Dave for a few hours is probably OK. On a larger project, be aware you may not be seeing him often. read more

DO NOT HIRE HIM - he is unlicensed. I had him do some work for me as part of a project with PGE. I had to hire another electrician to get his work inspected and permitted before PGE could complete the job. He could not get a permit or an inspection because he doesn't have a license. Any work done over 500.00 is illegal without a licences. He lied to me about this and strung this along for months calming he would make sure I didn't need a permit without ever admitting he could not get one. He is also very flakey. I heard all the excuses..funeral, truck broke down, didn't have the money to buy the supplies. I feel really stupid for trusting him but I learned by lesson. Always check to see that your professionals have a license. Just google state of California license board. It takes 5 seconds and will save you a world of hurt. read more

We bought a house in Jan and have since gone through 3 electricians for small jobs and for various reasons decided NOT to rehire. I first had my doubts at all the 5 star reviews, but after Dave finished installing our kitchen light, we are 100% happy and satisfied. Dave treats every job both small and large with equal importance. During the free estimate, he gave us the budget, medium, and higher cost options. He did not try to upsell the higher cost job (recessed lighting), but left the decision to us. After a terrible experience at Home Depot trying to choose a light fixture, he recommended a place in Daly City (Service Lighting) that gave us a great deal on a four bulb flush fixture. Dave is very personable, it feels like you hire your friendly neighbor to help with a job. His prices are unbeatable! We will be hiring Dave again for our recessed lighting job in the living room and hallway as soon as we get some extra money. You will NOT be disappointed with Dave's work. He has his brother to do any drywall work which may add some additional cost and time to the job, but most electricians will leave the drywall work for you to figure out. The estimate cost and job are all verbal and accurate, at first I was going to push for a written estimate after being nickel and dimed by other contractors, but Dave is trustworthy, his price estimate was accurate and the job was done to complete satisfaction and quickly. 20 plus years experience, friendly cute dogs, great prices, great attitude and service, you can not ask for anything more in a contractor. To address the issue of the one star review, to get a city permit and inspection is not that difficult to do by yourself. The majority of contractors are not bonded and insured, the ones that are pass this cost onto the homeowners. Anyones homeowner's insurance cover's any liability or injury on your property. Technically if some kid trips and falls on your driveway, their family can sue you. I don't see many people losing sleep over this. read more

Had a partial power outage after a storm. Called PGE for there free inspection and they said not our problem. I called Wire Works and they said they knew what the problem was over the phone. They came by two hours later and fixed the problem in 15 minutes. Very friendly and a local to Pacifica for many years. I read all the reviews and came to the conclusion that they either get 1 star of 5 stars. After my experience I will have to give them 5 stars. The service entrance wire holder came off my roof after last year's storm. I had Franmore Electric reattach it last year but it came apart after a matter of weeks. I've asked them to repair it, and they said they'd come by, but after over a year, nobody came, and the problem just got worse. My siding and roof were practically tearing off. I called Wire Works and he gave me the best advice ever. He asked me to call PG&E and explained what had to happen. In a matter of hours, PG&E had reattached the wire holder to the mast, and the problem was solved. I have just finished nailing my sidings back on and straightening out my roof. Neither of these repairs were necessary had Franmore Electric done this right the first time. Even though Wire Works did not provide physical work, they did provide expert advice. If PG&E had not fixed the issue, I wouldn't hesitate to call Wire Works back to complete the job. read more

My experience with Dave was nothing short of excellent! I was in a jam, big time, with what I would call rather extensive work including a panel replacement and old work never completed or simply done wrong. The time frame was less than two weeks due to other coordinated events at the house to put it to market. I left Dave a voicemail, he returned the call in minutes. Other highly rated electricians in the area never, and I mean never, returned a call....not even a courtesy call after leaving more than one voicemail. Back to Dave ... that same day he made it to the house within a few hours, he evaluated the entire project, provided a very reasonable, fair quote ... and promised to have the job done on time. Fast forward to today ... the job is done, on time, on quote, no surprises ... on top of inclement weather postponing the exterior work for over 3 days. I am on the east coast, Dave was in constant communication on status, and provided pics on work completed and in process, as well as suggestions and helpful comments on things that made sense for us to consider.
