I had a sewer problem at my office in SSF and we called Sugar Bear for help, which they responded and cleared out the pipe. They CCTVd the pipe and then told me there was a damaged pipe and it was collapsed. When I asked for footage it took 3-days to receive and anger I looked there was no damage. They then asked for $3k to do more exploration. At this point I had to get a second opinion and when the other plumber came they said the pipe was ok and it only needed to be descaled. When I responded to the email chain, Lawerence was very passive aggressive and just blatantly rude. It was almost like he was upset I went with someone else and couldn't take no for an answer. I would think twice before I call this company. read more

Had our 4th service call with Plumber Chris Smith and his assistant. Once again we received primo service, he called on the way, protected our floors, made an educated assessment, installed quality fixtures and cleaned up afterward. Sugar Bear is a sure bet- every visit! Many thanks!! read more

Sugar Bear Plumbing exceeded expectations rerouting drain pipes from my kitchen sink to the main drain. General Manager Lawrence with Chris and Tony did an amazing job so I hired them for additional work replacing my heating system and water heater. Had a slab leak that needed major repair but only Sugarbear was able to give us a quick plan of how to repipe the entire system and the estimates too. Done in 4 days! Aaron and his assistant was easy to talk to, and he accommodated all our requests. Very clean job! Mia at their office was very helpful too. It's been 3 weeks now since the work was done and so far we've had no issues. read more

I called C-Snake after reading reviews on Yelp and was glad that I did. Last night, I had a really bad kitchen sink clogged and the problem was in the valve outside the house. (This has happened before). I tried snaking the drain myself but after a few tries, the water was still at a stand still. I called C-Snake this morning at 8:20AM and talked directly to William. He gave me a fair price quote and told me he could be at my house by 9AM. I called a few other places to compare prices and decided to go with C-Snake. He showed up exactly as planned and unclogged the main valve using an industrial snake. William was fair, honest, and took care of the situation very efficiently. He was also nice enough to come inside the house to check out the pipes under our kitchen sink to make sure they weren't the causing any of the clogging problems. 5 stars for great service, coming within short notice, and fair pricing. I highly recommend C-Snake. read more

P: Professional! R: Reliable! O: Outstanding Service! Our water heater leaked, founded Sugar Bear on the website. Request a quote on a Friday and they were here. Came the next day Saturday after accepting quote. Office worker very professional and helpful and keep us up to date! Price reasonable compare to other places I checked out but not the same brand as Sugar Bear uses. They use Bradford White which is top of the brand and made in USA ( https://youtu.be/ef6NWi6jPXM ). Ian & co-worker Gilbert very professional and knew their job. Clean up everything left no garbage. If you live in the bay area, I highly recommend SUGAR BEAR PLUMBLING CO.! Clayton read more

Nice of him not to charge us for unclogging our toilet that flushed on it's own (clearly indicating that there was no longer any clog). If this guy would have just shown up and been honest about the issue (that if there was a small clog it had flushed and everything seemed to be fine) I would have gladly paid him for his service call and thanked him for his quick service and honesty (to certainly be followed by many referrals and call backs). Instead, he chose to pretend there was a problem, then offered to snake the "slow drains" in our sink and bath tub for the low, low charge of $85 each. Incidentally, I bought a barbed zip line and Home Depot for $2.73 and cleaned the hair out of both those drains in less than 90 seconds.... but thanks for offering to "fix" that problem for my wife. Instead of tons of referral business, this guy is only getting a bad review from me. read more

William was extremely responsive and very quick to provide a quote. He works Saturdays and it was really easy to schedule appointments with him. Unfortunately, that was the end of the good news. He had a bad attitude in general while working on the plumbing. In our case, he unclogged the toilet and replaced two flappers, but when I pointed out that the flush handle was now looser than it was before he worked on it, he went nuts. He started shouting at me and eventually stormed off saying I know nothing. Must have been something weird he ate. Or maybe he doesn't care anymore because he has good Yelp ratings. Either way, it was a horrible experience for me. read more

I had an abysmally clogged kitchen sink and tub that I had tried for days to fix. I called C-Snake Plumbing and talked to William about the problems I was having. William was quick to come out and help, keep in mind this was at 6:45 at night. William showed up in a timely manner, had the right tools with him and was courteous enough to wear little foot slippers when he came in the door. He got right to work and within a few minutes the pipes were off and he was running the snake down the drain. After doing this for a little while, he reassembled the plumbing and ran water through the system. After this first attempt did not work he clearly explained why he thought it did not work, what he needed to do different and got right back to disassembling the pipes again. No complains, no sighs or any sort of negative vibes. You just get the impression he likes to get the job done right. After the second attempt he was able to clear our the drain just as he expected. Let me tell you as a guy who has a hobby of cooking, not having a functional kitchen sink is not fun. I was ecstatic when everything was working again. Anyhow William owns/runs this company and you can see his pride in his work. His knowledge about plumbing hardware was fluent and precise. He is a genuine friendly local guy and I will call him again if anymore plumbing problems come up. As a side note he charged me what he said he would and did not add any extra complications to the bill at the end. I like that sort of a deal. ++ read more

William was inexpensive and easy to schedule... BUT he was also argumentative and difficult to deal with. He installed my kitchen sink fixture, and it was immediately wobbly (the bolt underneath was loose), and because he was difficult to deal with my wife didn't want him to come back. We had to hire another plumber to come back just to tighten the bolt. If you're tough and willing to argue, William is fine. If you want someone honest and easy to deal with, find someone else. read more

Another plumber was at my place, completely clogged a slow drain and refused to fix it for less than $150 + the $60 dollar fee from my home warranty company. I said no thanks. We had a clogged toilet at home and after waiting 7 days for my husband to call his cousin's-friend-brother's-co-workers'-husband I just decided to call someone myself and handle the situation. I chose C-Snake because they were local and had good Yelp reviews. I called and talked to William. He took down my address and was at my home within an hour. I liked how he broke down the price by which service. My father-in-law waited for him and he also walked my father-in-law through everything as well which was great. He unclogged our toilet quickly without making a mess and his pricing was well below Roto-Rooter. I also appreciated how he called my cell to explain everything he explained to my father-in-law. Got fed up with a muddy walkway through my apartments backyard so I decided to start working on fixing it, starting by turning the dirt and so with my second hit with the Hoe BOOOOM, I hit a main water line that turned out to be a copper extension just 1" below conected to my unit. With water flooding everywhere and me panicking I started Yelping for a decent plumber. After a few hopless phone calls, luckily for me I was able to get a hold of William from C Snake Plumbing who not only gives free estimates but said he can arrive in less than 20mins, and there he was. An hour later everything was in place. William was responsive immidiately and had everything he needed to work his magic and fix everything back to normal, he was very proffessional and experienced and on top of all his price beat everyone else. read more

New Years Day 2010 - Its morning and the kitchen sink backs up and is dripping all over under the cabinet from a leak in the drain pipes. After calling 2 big-name plumbing companies and getting attitude from smarmy girls of around 20-ish who clearly knew nothing about either plumbing OR customer service, plus having no openings until Monday afternoon I reached for the magnetic postcard/ calendar ad on the refrigerator. While it was a little tricky to make out the name of the company (C-Snake is represented by a "C" and a drawing of a snake, but not spelled out anywhere. I though it was "C-S Plumbing", because the Snake is in an "S" shape and so had a hard time finding the Yelp listing) the phone number and other information was clear and to the point. William, the business owner, answered my call (no sassy teenie-boppers!) . He was courteous, forthcoming with information and an estimate and able to come the same day. His work was fast, tidy and thorough, and the total was within $10 of his original estimate as he discovered a second leak in the connecting pipe and had to replace it as well. He even brought his own shoe-covers to wear in the house (thank you!). 5 Stars: 1 star for courtesy 1 star for same-day service 1 star for reasonable rates/ reasonably accurate estimate 1 star for great repair work 1 star for being a San Mateo (local) small business William at C-Snake saved the day - we would definitely call again if needed! read more

I didn't hire this company as I had super bad experience even during the price quote. They came on site to provide quote for the repair, but they tried many ways to con me. First their price is way more expensive than others, asking for $395 for 10 minute of repair work. I couldn't decide to hire them right away but still happy to keep their estimate for the reference. Second, they tried to trick me into committing a payment without knowledge. After I reviewed their estimate, I was asked to fill the customer info. I was a bit surprised as I already provided it over the phone. But I filled their form anyway. Then they "casually" asked me to sign as to "accept the estimate" and then they will give the estimate to me. I immediately felt something is wrong and I started to read the fineprint on the form carefully -- it is a form to authorize them to charge me for any price they put in! Third, they refuse to provide any written estimate. I refused to sign but I would like to keep the form as reference of their price. You know what happened? They refused to give me to estimate and said it is company's confidential information! I am only allowed to remember their price, no written record! When they come back, it could be a different price! Last and most important, they try to make money from me without doing any work! I immediately sent them away as I am not interested to work with them. But they hanged around at my property for another 20 minutes, interrupting my work with other contractors frequently and trying to convince me to hire them. After all the efforts have failed, they changed their face and asked me to pay them $65 as on-site service fee! They got to be kidding, I talked to them 4 times on phone with different people before they came, no one ever mentioned there is a fee and of course I never agreed to pay anything. All other companies do free estimate anyway. These folks argued with me for 10 minutes and tried to force me to pay. I had to walk away as I am really sick of their non-sense tricks. To make it more ridiculous, they were actually running a promotion as "free service visit valued at $25" on yelp at that time. I don't see any ground of the $65 charge. read more

We had a wonderful experience with William. We had a leak in our toilet we discovered Saturday morning and scheduled time with William that same afternoon. He did get hung up on a prior job resulting in about an hour and a half delay. However he keep us informed and when he arrived he was quick and professional. At the end to our surprise he offered due to the delays that the job was at no charge. (including his parts) We highly recommend this professional. read more

William fixed two plumbing problems for a fraction of the price that we were quoted by another plumbing company. He charged $211 and the other company quoted us $700 for just one of the two problems. We would highly recommend William and we will gladly use him again should we need a plumber. read more

Woke up this morning to what I had thought was a circuit breaker problem only to have PG&E discover that my sump pump was broken and my basement was semi flooded due to the recent rain. Needless to say I knew I needed a plumber quick. I did my research as quickly as I could and due to the great reviews on yelp decided to give William a call and I'm glad I did. William was on time, professional, extremely knowledgeable, and had fair pricing. He asked me a few questions and was able to determine the best course of action that was the most economical. Not once did I feel he was trying to pull a fast one on me because I knew nothing about plumbing. He educated me on the different types of sump pumps, how they worked, and what preventative measures I can take to prolong the life of my new pump. I had my old one removed and replaced with a new one in no time. He also provided a 1 year factory warranty on the pump as well as a one year warranty on his own work! I will definitely be calling him back in the future for any plumbing issues I may have. read more

For personalized service, you won't do any better than you will with William at C-Snake Plumbing. I use Yelp consistently when looking for new vendors, and, when we needed a plumber for a rather large job, I noticed that C-Snake Plumbing had garnered excellent reviews. We were interested in having preventive maintenance work done at the property, and I called William, along with several other plumbing contractors, for estimates. Most discussed their prices over the phone in generalized terms, but William actually came to the property; spent two hours, explaining exactly what the work would involve; and gave us a concrete bid. It was going to be an expensive venture, so I appreciated William's attention to detail and his willingness to discuss all of our options. Later - and before we had decided to hire C-Snake Plumbing - William spent another hour or so with me over the phone, answering a lot of last-minute questions that had come to mind after our first meeting. For those who are concerned about licensing and insurance - and I totally agree that those are mandatory requirements for a contractor -- I checked William's credentials, and he is indeed a bonded and licensed plumbing contractor. His license will expire in July 2012. Without hesitation, I would recommend William for any plumbing issue that might arise. Our job happened to be a fairly large one, but William is also equipped to handle jobs of lesser magnitude. While he was working at our property, a neighbor whom I don't know but who saw his truck parked out in front, came over to talk about a problem she was having with her toilet. William was quick to respond to her concern and made sure her toilet was working before he left the area. It doesn't get much better than that. Again, if you're looking for personalized service, as well as for plumbing expertise, please call William. I'm very sure you'll be glad you did. read more

I would not give this guy any stars if allowed. He may be knowledgeable about certain basic aspects of plumbing, but I just got ripped off royally! He was here in December of 2010 and charged me $80 an hour for labor, so I called him back for a very simple job to replace a part on my kitchen sink sprayer and to route out a short gutter. He worked a little under an hour and presented me with a bill of $139! I challenged this and he said his costs have gone up - say what?!!!! To the tune of $40 an hour more (his rate it now $120/hour) PLUS he adds on a $19 "trip charge", which he duly pointed out on his invoice. Only problem is he did NOT provide me a written estimate nor bother to tell me about this up front. All-in-all I paid the guy $139 for less than an hour of his time with no parts involved. If that ain't a rip off, I don't know what is. He left smugly saying he will charge $160 an hour if that's what it takes for him to get a profit. I will probably report this to the Better Business Bureau! read more

A called these guys at 7:30am for a clogged drain and clogged toilet. They had everything fixed by 10:00am. They are a father and son shop so they care a lot about the quality of customer service and word-of-mouth referral. Prices weren't bad either. Both jobs for under $200. read more

I found William on Yelp with such great reviews, I called and he came out to see my leaking toilet. He really took his time, explained things in great detail and on my level. He was able to tell me the issue was far greater than my toilet, so now it's a matter of the landlord approving the work tomorrow. I appreciated his attention to detail, the time he took to explain things to me and the willingness to get the job done today (too bad the landlord was not on site to authorize). I came home this morning to find William working on the sewer pipes and was so happy to see him! Several hours later, he completed the job and was professional the entire time. I called to thank him for all of his work. I would def. rec. him in the future. 5 stars well deserved! read more

I came home from vacation to find my water heater leaking. After being unsatisfied with the plumber dispatched by my home warranty company, and in a fit of frustration, I called William. He arrived 15 minutes later. Professional, knowledgeable, and courteous, William diagnosed the problem and patiently answered all of my questions. After fixing the initial problem, we discovered another leak in the water heater that wasn't repairable. Rather than put off the major job of replacing my water heater until the next day (it was after 5pm at this point), William called in an extra set of hands (his son, Curtis) to get the job done that night. After wrestling with some complications getting the new water heater to fit into the closet in my condo and 5 1/2 hours later, I had a working water heater. Both William and Curtis took their time, made sure the job was done right, and never balked at the late hour. They did a wonderful job. And, most importantly, I have every confidence in the work they did. When it comes to plumbing, it pays to use a professional and William is definitely that with his 23 years of experience. A leaking water heater is not what you want to come home to after vacation. But it was worth it to discover William and C-Snake Plumbing. He's my go-to plumbing guy from now on! read more

First time review. I am that impressed. THe toilet was bubbling for about two days and it came to a head when I tried to plunge it and ended up with 2" of raw sewage on the shower floor. This was clearly beyond my means. Called William at C-Snake plumbing at 7:30pm and he was at the house by about 7:50. He surveyed the house, laid out the options, and then got to work. I found William to be NICE, FRIENDLY, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, and EFFICIENT. Within 45 minutes the clog was removed (a tree root had grown into the main sewer line) and the shower floor was devoid of sewage. He stayed another hour plus to fix some other minor plumbing issues as the late night call has a 2 1/2 hour minimum. I would recommend it without any hesitation. I think the overall price came in right around where everyone else does (RotoRooter, Mr Plumber, etc) and William was definitely better than those other companies. I don't get the negative reviews on C-Snake Plumbing. Competitors? People who don;t know what they are talking about? William answered my call at 6 pm on a Thursday night, and was at my house by 6:30. He quickly diagnosed where the clog was in my sewer/drain pipes and told me it was alot less serious than I thought (branch versus main sewer). He was just a few minutes into using his snake machine when it broke down. He spent 45 minutes trying to fix it, then got another plumber friend of his to come out with another machine. William was at my house for over 2.5 hours but only charged me for one hour. He stayed until it was done. He did whatever it took to get it done. He was a solid, honest guy. He was really struggling with his machine at one point but didn't show one bit of aggravation or anything other than a pleasant and professional demeanor. Throughout all of this the guy was completely calm and made great conversation. William works hard, knows what he is doing, and is a pleasant guy. I felt completely comfortable having him in my house and actually enjoyed the whole thing because he was such a good guy. Someone complaining about $80 or $120 an hour for a plumber has their head in their drainpipe. Go ahead and call Roto Rooter and pay 30% to 50% more. Ignore the negative reviews.
